Part 3
Under the insistent ringing, all four people in the room opened their eyes simultaneously.
The bell continued. The four students looked at each other. Ji Xiaobo let out a miserable wail and said painfully, “…I’m so tired.”
Yun Yingzhi was drowsy, his eyelids jumping wildly. He opened his terminal to check the time. Ten minutes to 2:00 AM.
He had been asleep for less than half an hour.
Yun Yingzhi felt numb all over and desperately wanted to sleep.
A bell ringing in the middle of the night meant an emergency assembly for special training.
Students would be called for roll call upon arrival. Anyone who didn’t arrive within fifteen minutes would have their credits docked. The punishment was severe.
In less than ten seconds, the four of them managed their collapsing moods. In less than three minutes, they were dressed and had splashed water on their faces before sprinting out.
Running out of the dorm, they found students from the entire floor sprinting out as well. They couldn’t even wait for the elevator; they either jumped out of the building from high floors or stormed down the stairs in a swarm. The entire floor was shaking.
Yun Yingzhi was squeezed into the crowd, a thin layer of sweat forming on his forehead. He felt even more tired and overworked.
At exactly 2:00 AM, all the students arrived at the training hall and consciously lined up.
At 2:05 AM, the instructor appeared and began roll call.
Excellent. Not a single student was missing; everyone was present.
Yun Yingzhi thought: The thing students fear most about skipping class is when the instructors pull a nighttime surprise drill.
After the report, the students began warming up and then proceeded with the corresponding high-intensity training.
Due to lack of sleep, Yun Yingzhi felt his brain was mush. He wasn’t in the right state, making frequent mistakes during training. His whole body felt soft and weak; he didn’t look like he was undergoing special training, but rather like he was dancing. Keeping up with his classmates’ pace was extremely difficult, making him look exceptionally fragile.
The instructor looked at Yun Yingzhi and sighed.
Yun Yingzhi felt a bit wronged; he was clearly trying his best.
He shifted his gaze and noticed his classmates looking at him with pained expressions. Someone in the crowd whispered: “It’s really too much for our Yingzhi.”
“He’s just a fragile little bunny!”
Yun Yingzhi: “…”
He hadn’t felt it before, but hearing his classmates’ words, he suddenly felt he was indeed quite pitiful.
He sniffled, forced himself to focus, and according to the instructor’s requirements, firmly carried out every exercise.
Another student in the crowd said, “Even though our bunny’s movements aren’t very standard right now, he’s really working so hard!”
“The instructor is too cruel. The bunny is clearly so weak; why be so hard on him?”
Yun Yingzhi, with absolutely no self-awareness, thought: That makes so much sense.
Yet another student added, “But I knew Yingzhi was weak before. Seeing his performance today, I have a deep realization of his fragility once again.”
Yun Yingzhi: “…”
He felt even more aggrieved.
He cheered himself up in his heart. It’s okay.
Although he was weak, he could manufacture the strongest Source Weapons for himself!
The emergency assembly lasted until 4:30 AM before ending.
At 5:00 AM, they would have morning training.
Yun Yingzhi didn’t want to move at all. He sprawled on the floor, intending to sleep for thirty minutes on the spot before the morning drill.
Not just Yun Yingzhi—regardless of gender, the vast majority of students were slumped together in various states of exhaustion, closing their eyes to sleep. Snoring broke out everywhere.
After just a few minutes of sleep, they were woken by the alarms set on their personal terminals. Morning training time had arrived.
The students gathered with groans and sighs, lined up again, and began morning training.
It was exhausting.
Finally, they made it through. After high-intensity training, the students were sleepy, hungry, and tired.
They moved quickly toward the cafeteria, planning to eat as fast as possible and then catch some sleep.
What Yun Yingzhi found very subtle was that some people, to save time, actually transformed into their Second Forms and used their abilities to speed up.
It wasn’t the first time Yun Yingzhi had seen this scene, yet he was still greatly shocked. The scene was simply too grand.
Everywhere he looked, there were fierce beasts.
While Yun Yingzhi was pondering, Yu Feiwen also transformed into his Second Form, a hawk. He looked at Yun Yingzhi and said, “Yingzhi, I’ll carry you.”
Hearing this, the tired and hungry Yun Yingzhi immediately switched to his rabbit form and accurately leaped onto the hawk’s back, his two paws tightly gripping the feathers.
Many people saw this and frequently cast their gazes at the tiny white rabbit on the hawk’s grayish-brown back.
Suddenly, someone in the crowd said, “Little Battle Bunny!”
Yun Yingzhi was startled. His paws gripping the hawk loosened, and a gust of wind made his tiny body wobble. He truly looked fragile enough to be blown away by a breeze.
Everyone was worried upon seeing this, having a new realization of Yun Yingzhi’s fragility. Someone in the crowd shouted: “Yingzhi, be careful!”
The little rabbit pulled a grumpy face and hugged the hawk tightly. After a thought, he lay flat, burying his entire self. He looked incredibly soft and cute.
The hawk flapped its wings, soaring directly over obstacles and flying straight to the cafeteria.
A short while later, the four of them gathered and lined up for food.
Compared to other students, the four of them were clearly in worse spirits, each sporting massive dark circles under their eyes.
While eating breakfast, Yun Yingzhi’s head kept nodding downward toward the table. He was just a hair’s breadth away from eating with his face when someone caught him.
Yun Yingzhi realized a beat late that the noisy cafeteria had suddenly gone quiet. He froze and tilted his head to look at the person holding him. A pair of purple eyes came into view.
It was His Highness Elvis, the sole heir of the Los Empire and the most noble person at Fense Academy.
Why was he here?
Yun Yingzhi’s eyelids jumped. Memories of his previous encounters with Elvis in his rabbit form flashed through his mind, and his cheeks instantly flushed crimson.
Elvis said, “Be careful. Don’t fall asleep while eating.”
Yun Yingzhi nodded, his brain a mess. He had no idea what Elvis had said.
Elvis added, “I can take you back.”
This time, Yun Yingzhi heard clearly. Take him back?
Back where?
The first thing he thought of were the doors and windows Elvis had closed one by one not long ago.
Yun Yingzhi’s eyelids jumped wildly. He refused: “No need, Your Highness. I’m doing very well right now. I can manage on my own.” As he spoke, he stood up, gave his roommates a look, and ran out after returning his tray.
He didn’t want to be locked up at all!
The three roommates politely bid farewell to Elvis and hurriedly followed.
Gathering together, they opened their course schedules and felt a mental breakdown.
Morning classes were full, afternoon classes were full, and there was extra training at night.
The four looked at each other and felt a wave of desolation.
The only consolation was that as long as they survived one more day, it would be the monthly Open Day at Fense Academy.
On Open Day, they could walk out of the academy and go home. They could rest for a full day without worrying about being woken up in the middle of the night.
The four forced themselves to stay alert and went to class.
In their drowsiness, a grueling day finally passed.
On the way back to the dorm, they heard some students chatting about a social mixer. The four suddenly realized that the night after next, they were supposed to attend a mixer.
At that mixer, they would meet many people—perhaps even someone they’d fall in love with at first sight.
He had been sleepy, but once the mixer was mentioned, Yu Feiwen was suddenly energized. He said, “Let’s get a good sleep tonight, push through tomorrow, and then on the morning after next, we’ll conserve our energy for the mixer in the evening. It’s perfect.”
“I’ve already had a new formal suit custom-made!” Jing Haomiao added.
By the time they returned to the dorm, it was 10:00 PM.
After a day of high-intensity training, the four were starving. They rummaged through their things for instant food to fill their stomachs. By the time they washed up and lay down, it was 11:00 PM.
At this moment, they sincerely felt that being able to sleep was true happiness.
However, the instructors at Fense Academy were truly not human.
They had slept for less than three hours when the insistent bell rang again. The four drowsy students were startled awake at the same time.
Yun Yingzhi’s eyelids jumped. His first thought was to check the time.
Ten minutes to 2:00 AM.
Yun Yingzhi thought: The instructors are such dogs. They actually pulled the same trick two nights in a row.
