Chapter 10
Qi An returned to her room, locked the door, and took out her laptop.
“Wen Xin, how far along is the company’s progress?” Qi An got straight to the point.
“Boss, things are going very smoothly. Several small games have already gone online, and the card game and Pet Paradise are especially popular,” Wen Xin said excitedly.
“You’ve all worked hard. There’ll be a generous bonus at the end of the year. Send me the data to take a look.”
“Yes, Boss.”
“Boss, fighting! I’m rooting for you and Su Yinghou,” Wen Xin said.
“It depends on fate. You should rest early too; you’ve got dark circles under your eyes.”
“It’s okay, I’m excited! I’ve been up all night looking at the data. Many people in the company are paying attention to the games we’re developing.”
“There’s still a long way to go. Bigger surprises are yet to come.”
“Remember, my identity can’t be revealed.”
“Yes, Boss. Don’t worry.”
After finishing the call with Wen Xin, Qi An reviewed the data Wen Xin sent, and also promoted her company’s games on Weibo, although she only chose one game to promote.
Some of Qi An’s followers saw her post recommending a game.
“I think I saw my cousin playing this game.”
“Wow, Qi An also plays this pet game?”
Qi An brought a wave of popularity to her company. Her company’s publicity department reacted quickly, actively promoting the game, and it even got to the top of the trending searches.
This was partly due to the popularity of the show Qi An was on: Qi An killing a chicken, Qi An confronting Zhong Haoli, Qi An and Su Yinghou’s eye contact, the rich Lin Lai, Zhong Haoli getting kicked out of the entertainment industry, etc., all topped the trending searches. Someone else was silently helping too.
Qi An was so focused on the data that she lost track of time. When she finally looked up, it was very late. She took a shower and went to bed.
Zhong Haoli finished a call with his father and was so angry he almost smashed his phone.
“The company, the company! All they care about is the company! They don’t care about me at all!”
On the other side, Lin Lai was happily talking to her brother on the phone: “Brother, don’t worry, I’m fine. You’ll see on the show.”
“Don’t worry, Sister Qi is a good person. She takes good care of me.”
“Brother, goodnight.”
“Hee hee, I had so much fun today! I made a good friend, and I even got close to Queen Ji!” Lin Lai said, lying in bed.
When the first rays of sunlight streamed in, they woke the sleeping beauty.
Su Jue got up, went to the curtains, and opened them, seeing Qi An returning from an outdoor workout.
She got up so early?
After Qi An finished her run, she went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast: the leftover rice from yesterday and the wild eggs.
Let’s make fried rice.
“Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle.” The sound of hot oil.
When Su Jue came downstairs, she smelled the aroma of fried rice.
“So fragrant! Fried rice! Sister Qi, you made fried rice!”
Lin Lai also opened her door at this moment, smelled the aroma, and immediately came downstairs.
“Your nose is right. Fried rice for breakfast.”
“Su Yinghou, have a bowl. There’s a lot of leftover rice,” Qi An smiled.
“Okay,” Su Jue tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and smiled.
Now that Qi An had let go, she didn’t feel the need to be reserved.
Lin Lai looked curiously at Su Jue and Qi An. What had happened last night that she didn’t know about?
In her impression, Su Jue couldn’t wait to avoid Qi An. Why was she now actively engaging with her?
Ji Muyulan also looked in surprise at Su Jue sitting and eating with Qi An.
“Lin Lai, what happened?”
“I don’t know, I just came out, and they were like this.”
“Lin Lai, Queen Ji, if you don’t eat, the rice will get cold.”
“Coming!”
Lin Lai diligently served Ji Muyulan a bowl of fried rice.
Ji Muyulan took a bite and praised, “Qi An, your cooking is good. You could open a restaurant.”
“That’s a good idea,” Qi An smiled.
“Qi An, do you often cook?” Su Jue asked curiously.
She suddenly wanted to know more about Qi An.
“Yes, I was poor before, so if I wanted to eat delicious food, I had to figure it out myself. I have quite refined taste,” Qi An smiled.
“Sister Qi, I’ll treat you to a delicious meal when the show ends,” Lin Lai quickly said.
“Okay.”
Ning Nan looked bewildered at the four women sitting together. He understood everyone else, but what was going on between Su Jue and Qi An?
Zhong Haoli and Fang Hua also got up, with the same expression as Ning Nan.
Fang Hua saw the fried rice in Qi An’s and the others’ hands, and his stomach rumbled.
“Sister Qi, can I have a bowl?”
“There’s more in the pot. We’ve had enough. If you want, help yourself. And wash your own bowl.”
“After all, I can’t hog all the rice.”
After hearing this, Fang Hua immediately went to the kitchen and served himself a bowl of rice.
“Qi An, I’ll get a bowl too,” Ning Nan said.
“Go ahead, there’s plenty. Just help yourselves,” Qi An said.
After hearing this, Zhong Haoli also ran to the kitchen without asking Qi An.
“Save me some.”
In the end, Ning Nan and the others all got their share.
As for the instant noodles, bread, and sandwiches prepared by the program team, no one touched them.
It seems they prepared them for nothing.
“Okay, everyone survived the first night safely. Now for a new task,” Li Xiang said, stepping forward.
“Using everything on this island, prepare a gift and hide it in the small amusement park. The two who find each other’s gifts will receive a grand prize. Those who don’t find a gift will be punished.”
“Sister Qi, what kind of gift should we prepare?” Lin Lai asked.
“Let’s go take a look around first,” Qi An thought.
This task actually had a punishment. It seems they needed to take the task seriously. However, there wasn’t much to look forward to regarding the grand prize.
But she wouldn’t accept the punishment.
“Please prepare your gifts individually. Don’t discuss with each other. Please protect your gifts. If they’re revealed, it’s considered a game failure, and you’ll be directly punished.”
The program director, Li Xiang, looked at Qi An and Lin Lai, seemingly warning them.
“Lin Lai, just go with the flow. Good luck,” Qi An patted Lin Lai’s shoulder.
Qi An was the first to go out, heading towards the forest from yesterday.
“Prepare a gift? I need to think carefully. A Jue, I’ll go take a look outside too,” Ji Muyulan said.
“Okay.”
Su Jue didn’t choose to go outside but decided to wander around the castle.
“We’re the only men left. I’ll go take a look outside too,” Ning Nan said.
Zhong Haoli still had a cold expression, without any reaction to Ning Nan’s words.
“Brother Hao, I’ll go check outside too,” Fang Hua said.
In a short while, only Zhong Haoli remained in the hall. He stood there in silence for a moment before saying, “Can I use the things I brought as gifts?”
The program crew discussed for a while.
“Yes.”
After hearing this, a slight smile played on Zhong Haoli’s lips. He had prepared some gifts beforehand, which came in handy.
Qi An walked into the forest, looking for the treehouse Lin Lai mentioned.
“It’s here!”
“Very Lin Lai style.”
Qi An looked at the small red and white house on a large tree. It was very fairytale-like.
Qi An entered the treehouse and found many things inside: a bow and arrow. She curiously picked it up and examined it.
“The tools here are quite complete,” Qi An said, looking at the tools on the wooden table.
