Chapter 4
The night was turbulent. Zhong Corporation suffered significantly; its PR team worked tirelessly, and Zhong Haoli was scolded relentlessly by his father.
“You’ve played around long enough. It’s time you joined the company and learned the ropes. Quit acting; you’re an embarrassment,” Zhong’s father said to Zhong Haoli, who had a grim expression.
“Stay home and behave yourself for a while. Don’t cause any more trouble.”
“Yes, Dad,” Zhong Haoli said, head bowed.
It took Zhong Corporation a long time to recover from the storm, paying a heavy price. Zhong’s father worried about his company’s stock for a long time, causing him to get angry at Zhong Haoli every time he saw him.
Qi An sat in front of her computer, typing incessantly. “If I don’t take advantage of this chaos, when will I?”
“I still don’t have enough money. I only got a small share of Zhong Corporation’s stock. I need to find a way to make some money.”
“I haven’t gone out sightseeing in days.”
Thinking this, Qi An stood up.
“It’s time for a stroll.”
Qi An put on sporty clothes, checked her reflection, put on a baseball cap, and sunglasses.
“Perfect. My style is so different from before; they won’t recognize me.”
Qi An walked out the front door in broad daylight.
The security guard at the entrance looked at Qi An, puzzled. “Do celebrities go out so openly now?”
Clearly, Qi An’s disguise was inadequate. Fortunately, no paparazzi were lurking; otherwise, she would have been swarmed.
“Qi An! Look, it’s Qi An!”
As soon as Qi An appeared on the street, she was recognized.
“Oh no! Where did my disguise go wrong?”
Qi An immediately fled. “Whew, whew. I need to exercise more. My physical fitness is terrible.”
“Getting away from them was so difficult.”
“Where am I? I was running too fast; I didn’t pay attention.”
Qi An found herself surrounded by clothes—a clothing store.
Zhang Xiao, a sales associate at the high-end clothing store, noticed someone sneaking around and observed her. She immediately recognized Qi An.
“Shadow Queen Su just came, and now Qi An is here. Are they on a date?”
Thinking this, Zhang Xiao was excited. Recently, someone online had edited videos of Qi An and Su Jue together; they looked very well-matched. She was now a fan of this couple.
“Miss, can I help you with anything?” Zhang Xiao approached.
“No, I’ll just look around,” Qi An smiled.
“Ms. Qi, come here.”
Qi An was about to leave, but the sales associate looked at her mysteriously.
“What’s wrong? You recognized me too?” Qi An asked, confused.
“Of course. Ms. Qi is such a big star.”
“Ms. Qi is looking for Shadow Queen Su, right? I’ll take you. I’m a fan; I’ll take you there.” Zhang Xiao laughed happily.
“Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone. Ms. Qi, just enjoy your date with Shadow Queen Su.”
“Ms. Qi, you have to work hard! I believe in you!”
“No, I, you…”
Qi An was bewilderedly led to the second floor and pushed inside a room.
Wait, you’ve got the wrong person! Su Jue is here too? What a coincidence?
Su Jue was trying on a black long dress, reaching behind her to zip it up. Hearing a sound, she thought it was Ji Muyulan.
“Muyulan, help me with the zipper.”
Hearing Su Jue’s voice, Qi An froze. She couldn’t leave or retreat.
It was time to show off her skills.
Su Jue felt a cold hand touch her skin.
“Muyulan, why are your hands so cold?”
After zipping up the dress, Su Jue adjusted it and asked Ji Muyulan, as usual, “What do you think?”
Qi An looked at the classic beauty in front of her and exclaimed, “Beautiful. It suits you.”
Hearing the strange yet familiar voice, Su Jue turned around, surprised to see Qi An behind her.
“You… how are you here?”
Qi An shrugged. “A helpful sales associate thought I was here to see you and brought me up.”
“It’s a coincidence to meet you here.”
“Shadow Queen Su, long time no see.”
“Ms. Qi,” Su Jue nodded.
Seeing Qi An again, Su Jue had a different feeling.
Qi An, seeing Su Jue’s slight panic, flashed a mischievous smile and slowly approached her.
Su Jue, seeing Qi An walk towards her, felt inexplicably nervous, backing away until she reached a corner.
“Thump!”
Qi An put one hand on the wall beside Su Jue’s face, successfully cornering her.
“Shadow Queen Su, why are you so nervous? Afraid I’ll eat you?”
Qi An whispered in Su Jue’s ear, pleased to see her ears turn red.
“I’m just not used to people getting this close,” Su Jue said calmly, avoiding eye contact with Qi An.
“Yeah, I know.”
Seeing that the joke had gone far enough, Qi An released Su Jue.
Su Jue breathed a sigh of relief. “Ms. Qi, could you leave? I need to change.”
“Okay,” Qi An smiled mysteriously.
As Qi An turned, she felt a gust of wind behind her and turned to see Su Jue falling towards her.
Qi An quickly reached Su Jue, grabbing her waist and pulling her into a hug. A faint, sweet fragrance wafted from Su Jue, causing Qi An to lean closer to inhale it.
“Jue, I’m back.”
Ji Muyulan stared at the two almost kissing, a smile playing on her lips.
“I’m sorry to interrupt. I’ll go now.”
“Thump!” The door closed again.
Ji Muyulan leaned against the door, her smile radiant.
“Jue, don’t thank me!”
Su Jue tried to escape Qi An’s embrace, but Qi An stopped her.
“Wait, your dress is caught. If you want to fall again, I won’t stop you.”
Su Jue immediately calmed down. After adjusting her dress, she left Qi An’s embrace, but a sense of disappointment flickered in her heart. Only she knew what it was.
Su Jue looked at Qi An thoughtfully. “Ms. Qi, you’re only 22, and I’m 27. You have a bright future; there’s no need to waste your time on me. It’s impossible between us.”
Qi An looked at Su Jue in surprise. She believed that Qi An liked her.
“You’re concerned about age, not gender,” Qi An said, looking at Su Jue curiously.
Su Jue was stunned. “I hope you focus on your career while you’re young. If you need help, I can help you.”
“Career? Acting? I don’t need it. I don’t like acting; I only did it to get close to you. You like acting, don’t you?”
Su Jue bit her lip; she actually knew.
“What do you want to do? I’ll invest in you.”
Qi An smiled at Su Jue. “I’m just your pursuer. Why are you so nice to me?”
“Don’t be so gentle. Be ruthless when you need to. You’ll be taken advantage of easily.”
“Shadow Queen Su, be careful of Zhong Haoli. He’s vindictive and will definitely cause you trouble. It’s time you left his entertainment company.”
“Don’t let them catch you off guard. I think you understand.”
“What about you?” Su Jue asked Qi An.
“Me? I don’t care. If they shelve me, I don’t mind. It seems you don’t want me around anyway.”
“Shadow Queen Su, see you again if fate allows,” Qi An smiled.
Su Jue watched Qi An leave in silence.
I don’t want to lose you, but I don’t know how to get along with you.
Ji Muyulan watched Qi An leave, patted her shoulder, and smiled.
“Little Qi, how did it go?”
“Nothing much. I’ll leave Su Jue in your care.”
“Queen Ji, call me anytime if you need me.”
“Okay, I’ll keep you informed,” Ji Muyulan smiled.
She couldn’t miss this drama.
Ji Muyulan was Su Jue’s only friend and could be trusted. In the novel, Zhong Haoli also coveted the alluring Ji Muyulan. After the Zhong Corporation ruined the Su Corporation, Ji Muyulan was targeted and committed suicide.
Therefore, Zhong Corporation must fall.
Qi An thought deeply about what she had to do in the future.
