Chapter 5
Ji Muyulan entered the room and saw Su Jue standing there, lost in thought.
“Everyone’s gone, and you’re still thinking about Qi An?”
Su Jue didn’t answer but asked, “Does this dress look good?”
“Yeah, it suits you,” Ji Muyulan said, puzzled.
She wondered why the topic suddenly shifted to the dress. After a moment of thought, a mischievous smile spread across her face.
“Qi An likes you in this dress,” Ji Muyulan said, teasingly.
Su Jue’s eyes flickered as she concealed her expression.
“No, I chose it myself. I just asked for your opinion.”
“Oh, really?” Ji Muyulan looked at Su Jue meaningfully.
“Speaking of, how did Qi An end up here?”
“A coincidence.”
“What a coincidence.”
“Muyulan, are you buying anything? If not, I’ll go to the checkout,” Su Jue said.
Ji Muyulan shook her head. “I’m not buying anything. Let’s go.”
“Muyulan, wait. Let’s go to Xing Le Entertainment,” Su Jue said, remembering Qi An’s words.
“Why there?” Ji Muyulan asked curiously.
“To terminate the contract.”
When Su Jue went to the checkout, she was told someone had already paid.
“Ms. Qi An has already paid for Ms. Su,” Zhang Xiao said.
“She wanted to give it to you; just accept it,” Ji Muyulan said.
Qi An was clever.
“Shadow Queen Su, could you sign an autograph for me?” Zhang Xiao asked eagerly.
“Of course,” Su Jue said gently.
“Thank you.”
Zhang Xiao smiled happily, holding the signed autograph. She then produced another signed autograph, this time with Qi An’s name.
“What luck! I got two autographs at once!”
“Ms. Su, here’s your contract. Please review it,” said the Xing Le manager.
“There are no problems,” Su Jue said after carefully reviewing it.
“Conveniently, my contract is also expiring. I’m terminating it too,” Ji Muyulan said.
“Ms. Ji, are you sure you don’t want to reconsider?” the Xing Le manager said, his face darkening.
“I’m sure,” Ji Muyulan said firmly.
“Fine.”
He was just a manager. The company losing two big stars wasn’t something he could handle. He called Zhong Haoli earlier about this and got scolded; Zhong Haoli didn’t care about Su Jue at all, so he just agreed to the termination.
“Excuse me, how many years are left on Ms. Qi An’s contract?” Su Jue suddenly asked.
“That… that’s personal information,” said the Xing Le manager.
“What privacy? Qi An certainly wouldn’t mind Ms. Su knowing. Why don’t you call and ask?” Ji Muyulan said.
“Ahem… two years. If she wants to terminate now, she needs to pay 50 million,” the Xing Le manager said.
“Thank you.”
“Finally free from that pit! If you hadn’t helped me earlier, I don’t know what would’ve happened,” Ji Muyulan said, holding Su Jue’s hand.
“Aren’t we friends?” Su Jue smiled.
“You asked about Qi An’s contract earlier. You wanted to help her, right? Fifty million is just a small amount for you.”
“She angered Zhong Haoli because of me. I want to help her.”
“Really? She’s just pursuing you. You’re too kind to a pursuer, even if she’s a bit unusual. Jue, you’ve changed,” Ji Muyulan laughed.
“Have I changed?” Su Jue asked, confused.
“Think about it.”
After leaving, Qi An went to a dessert shop and checked her phone.
“First, I need the strength to compete with Zhong Corporation. Let’s start a small company… this one.”
Fang You was the founder of Happy Game Company. The game industry was sluggish, and the company had been losing money for years; it was about to go bankrupt. He tried to sell the company, and some companies wanted to acquire it, but because he wanted to keep the original employees, they refused.
“What should I do? Do I really have to declare bankruptcy?”
“Knock, knock, knock.”
“Come in.”
“What is it?” Fang You asked.
“Boss, someone wants to acquire our company,” Wen Xin said happily.
She didn’t expect a celebrity to acquire their company, but as long as they didn’t lay off employees, that was fine. Finding a job was difficult now.
She wondered if the boss would be surprised when he saw the acquirer.
“What? Quickly bring them in,” Fang You said excitedly.
“Okay, boss.”
Fang You stared, surprised when he saw the person who walked in.
“Qi An!”
“Seems I have a lot of influence,” Qi An laughed.
Fang You was puzzled, but still greeted Qi An warmly.
He knew Qi An was involved with Zhong Corporation.
“Ms. Qi, are you interested in the game industry?” Fang You offered Qi An tea.
“A bit,” Qi An nodded.
Fang You worried. Even if the company was acquired, he didn’t know how long it could last. A celebrity… what did she know about games?
“Mr. Fang, what’s your asking price?” Qi An asked directly.
“It’s a small company; the value is around 20 million. But I won’t hide it; the company has lost a lot of money. If you really want it, 8 million is enough, as long as you don’t lay off the employees,” Fang You said.
Qi An stared at Fang You in admiration; such conscientious bosses were rare these days.
“You’re good to your employees.”
“When I first started my business, they helped me through many hardships.”
“Okay, I’ll keep them,” Qi An said readily.
“That’s good,” Fang You smiled.
This was all he could do; the rest was up to fate.
The employees of Happy Game Company couldn’t focus on work; they were eagerly waiting for the result.
“Sister Wen, do you think this will be successful?” Li Wen asked.
“I hope so,” Wen Xin said, unsure.
“Click.”
Fang You came out with Qi An and smiled, “The company is Ms. Qi’s now. She also plans to keep everyone.”
“Clap clap clap! That’s great!” The employees applauded.
“Hello everyone, I’m your new boss. Because of my special identity, I hope you don’t tell anyone outside that I’m your boss. You don’t want to be hounded by reporters, do you?” Qi An laughed.
“We will keep it a secret.”
Although the employees of Happy Game Company had avoided unemployment, could a celebrity, a young one at that, really lead them?
After the handover with Fang You, Qi An became the boss. She changed the company’s name to “Singular Point,” a play on words meaning “starting point.” She would start here.
“Meeting. The boss wants department heads to attend a meeting,” Wen Xin announced.
“Okay.”
Qi An sat in the boss’s chair, feeling like she was back in her original world.
“This is the game plan I’ve come up with. Follow it.”
“Programming team, work hard. Finish it quickly. Art team, cooperate. The graphics must be exquisite. All other departments cooperate.”
Liu Yang, the game planner, was excited about the game plan. In his opinion, this game would definitely be a hit.
“Boss, did you come up with this game? This idea is brilliant.”
“Of course. Being a celebrity is my side hustle. I’m an expert in games; I was just busy with other things before,” Qi An said shamelessly.
Everyone present understood what she meant by “other things”—chasing Shadow Queen Su.
Bringing the games from her original world over, Qi An felt no guilt. Combining World of Warcraft and League of Legends was her quirky idea. Failure was impossible; the games in this world were outdated. Such a novel game would be incredibly popular.
Once this company made money, she would acquire another company, focusing on information technology—her real job.
“Tribes and Alliances will be the company’s main game. It can’t be shoddily made. Taking more time is fine; quality is key. Other small games can be developed quickly to generate profits.”
“If we don’t have enough people, hire more.”
“Director Liu, it’s up to you,” Qi An said to Liu Yang.
“Boss, don’t worry,” Liu Yang said.
Everyone began to work busily. They were idle before, but now they felt they didn’t have enough time.
“Wen Xin, come to my office,” Qi An said.
“Boss.”
“Wen Xin, Mr. Fang told me you’re capable. When I’m not in the office, you’ll be the acting manager. Your salary will be doubled. Oversee the company, and send me updates via email,” Qi An said to Wen Xin.
“Boss, don’t worry, I’ll do my best,” Wen Xin knew this was her chance.
“Boss, are you going to Celebrity Love?” Wen Xin asked curiously.
“It seems the news has spread. I’ve invested my fortune in this company; I don’t have the money to break the contract, so I have to participate,” Qi An laughed.
“Isn’t it because of Shadow Queen Su?” Wen Xin said gossipingly.
After a few days, Wen Xin found Qi An easygoing.
“You’re quite nosy. Get back to work,” Qi An laughed.
“Okay, boss.” Wen Xin happily left.
Qi An sat in her office, thinking about Celebrity Love.
“Zhong Haoli has been completely blacklisted. Why would the show invite him? And why would he go? What’s he trying to do?”
“What are you thinking? Just break the contract. Why are you going?” Zhong’s father was puzzled.
“I’m doing this to restore my image. Su Jue will also be on the show. We’ve known each other for so long; she’ll at least consider our family’s reputation. This way, the public won’t think the Su and Zhong families are at odds,” Zhong Haoli said.
“Good idea,” Zhong’s father nodded.
“Be nice to Jue on the show. Don’t cause any more trouble, and stay away from other actresses. Do you understand?”
“I won’t, Dad,” Zhong Haoli quickly said.
Actually, he went for Qi An. He had to get Qi An; otherwise, he’d have a thorn in his side.
