Chapter 5: Stay Away From Him!
“Boss?!” Mu Mu grabbed the handrail, about to stand. The woman’s gaze fell on his injured leg and the messy red marks, and she sighed softly, gesturing for him to sit. “Your leg is injured. Don’t move; sit still.”
Although Mu Mu felt it was impolite to sit while talking to the boss, he obeyed, thanking her and remaining still.
His legs together, his back straight, his hands on his knees, he looked up earnestly at the woman, as obedient as a kindergartener looking at their teacher.
The boss’s breath hitched at the innocent gaze. The torrent of scolding she’d prepared for Mu Mu had mostly disappeared at the sight of his injured leg and bruised neck. The rest vanished completely.
The boss tugged at her shawl, saying, “Be smarter next time. Don’t believe everything people say.”
“Ah?” Mu Mu looked innocently at the boss, blinking twice before slowly understanding she was referring to his helping Xiao Wen deliver the wine.
“I’m sorry, boss. I didn’t intentionally leave my post,” Mu Mu admitted his mistake first, then explained, “Brother Xiao Wen said he had a stomachache, so I helped him deliver the wine. Boss, please don’t blame Brother Xiao Wen.”
Seeing that even after being mistreated, Mu Mu was still pleading for Xiao Wen, the boss became furious. She poked Mu Mu’s forehead with her index finger, saying exasperatedly,
“That’s why I told you to be smarter and not believe everything people say. Zhang Wen was perfectly fine; he didn’t have a stomachache or anything wrong with him. He was lying to you.”
“No way,” Mu Mu said, like a freshman in law school defending himself before a stern judge. “I saw Brother Xiao Wen holding his stomach, doubled over in pain, his face pale.”
“You’re so naive; couldn’t you tell he was faking it?” The boss said, then regretted it.
Mu Mu, this little fool, was deceived by Xiao Wen because he couldn’t tell, and somehow angered that person, leading to his terrible ordeal.
Seeing Mu Mu’s expression of confusion and bewilderment, she sighed again.
It was her fault; she’d used riddles when speaking to such a naive person; she should have directly exposed Xiao Wen’s scheme.
“The guest who came tonight had a bad temper,” she paused. Mu Mu nodded vigorously, measuring his head with his hands, then patting his chest, saying with lingering fear, “Red hair, so tall, so strong, so much strength, so scary!”
It was Achi. The boss had personally received the antique wine from Achi and had seen his red hair.
Her gaze fell again on the darkening bruise on Mu Mu’s neck, shocked that Achi, one of Yan Gui Xing’s bodyguards, was responsible.
The boss hadn’t felt comfortable leaving Mu Mu alone to deliver the wine. After scolding Xiao Wen, she went upstairs.
She didn’t dare enter the private room directly, but eavesdropped outside the door. When she heard the loud, thunderous crash, her heart sank.
After agonizing at the door for a long time, she went into the staff passage. She didn’t know that after she entered, Mu Mu was personally sent out by Yan Gui Xing.
“Yes, Xiao Wen knew he was scary and had a bad temper, so he tricked you, a little fool, into taking his place. Now you’ve been punished,”
The boss said crossly, “Next time, don’t blindly believe everything people say. Learn to refuse, understand?”
Mu Mu, realizing Xiao Wen had lied about being sick, looked downcast. His wet, curly hair hung limply over his ears, making him look listless, obedient, and pitiful.
The boss’s heart softened, and her tone became gentler, “It’s not your fault tonight. You’ve been wronged. Go take a shower and treat your wounds. You don’t need to go to the front; just help clean up at the back.”
Mu Mu slowly stood up and said, “Thank you, boss.”
The boss waved her hand, dismissing Mu Mu. When he was beside her, she suddenly remembered something, stopped him, and warned, “Stay away from upstairs! If you see the person from the private room, avoid him, understand?”
Mu Mu was still terrified of what happened in the private room and vigorously nodded, indicating he understood.
Knowing Mu Mu was always obedient, she didn’t say anything more. After promising Mu Mu overtime pay for the day, she let him leave.
She couldn’t imagine that the usually obedient child would disobey for once, throwing himself into the arms of that demonic fiend.
12:00 AM
Yan Gui Xing, his cold expression scaring off yet another beauty trying to flatter him, found the sight of their terrified face under the dim lights boring.
He impatiently waved the beauty away. The pitiful, cute face from earlier came to mind.
Unreasonably annoyed, he frowned, finished his drink, slammed the glass on the glass coffee table, and said softly, “Achi, let’s go.”
Achi, who had been by Yan Gui Xing’s side since returning with the wine, quickly followed as he got up. The bodyguards lurking in the shadows quickly put down their glasses and followed.
The private room was suddenly half-empty, leaving only the heavily made-up beauties. They looked at each other silently, before finally sighing in relief. Regret existed, but not much; relief was the predominant emotion.
After all, serving someone like that was far more terrifying than serving a tiger.
Meanwhile, Mu Mu, having received permission from the boss, changed into a spare uniform and hid in a corner near the staff rest area, openly goofing off.
Occasionally, he would help out when other staff were too busy, clearing tables or taking out the trash.
A busy waiter asked Mu Mu to empty the trash. Mu Mu didn’t refuse, dragging a black garbage bag towards the disposal point.
The disposal point was east of the helipad. Going out the back door required crossing the entire helipad.
The helipad was usually full of private aircraft, but tonight, only a few dozen were parked.
They were parked as if in agreement, several silver ones together, the others in corners, as if deliberately avoiding those silver ones.
Mu Mu saw the silver aircraft gleaming under the moonlight, like scattered stars, incredibly beautiful.
He loved shiny things and his eyes were glued to those beautiful aircraft. He unconsciously walked towards them, wanting a closer look.
Before he took a few steps, he heard footsteps behind him.
Mu Mu knew it must be departing guests and stepped aside, making way for them.
Mu Mu was looking down, his peripheral vision catching sight of the leading person’s black, slightly wrinkled silk trousers, which seemed familiar.
He secretly looked up. A hand with only two knuckles visible, partially covered by a white vintage puff sleeve, along with a voluptuous, beautiful face.
It was the man who had saved him in the private room!
Mu Mu’s heart leaped. His mind was filled with the man’s gentle tone and considerate actions, completely forgetting the boss’s warning.
He dropped the garbage bag and hurried towards Yan Gui Xing. He had an old leg injury; it wasn’t noticeable when he walked slowly, but it was apparent when he walked quickly or ran.
Achi, standing beside Yan Gui Xing, noticed Mu Mu’s approach and was about to shield Yan Gui Xing and signal others to be vigilant when he heard Yan Gui Xing whisper, “Let him come.”
Achi silently changed his defensive stance, subtly stepping back to give Yan Gui Xing enough space.
As a trusted confidant who had followed Yan Gui Xing for a long time, if Achi couldn’t guess that Yan Gui Xing had taken a liking to this delicate, cute waiter, he could resign and go farm on a remote planet.
As Mu Mu approached, Achi couldn’t help but carefully observe Mu Mu’s cute, somewhat childish face. He gasped inwardly, My Lord! Could it be that his boss had taken a liking to a minor?
