Chapter 7: Unlucky Achi
Whether out of sympathy or other motives, Yan Gui Xing abandoned the idea of taking Mu Mu back and boarded the flyer alone.
Seeing Mu Mu get off the flyer and walk back, Achi curiously glanced at Mu Mu’s back and then turned to look inside the open cabin door.
He didn’t understand what his superior general meant. He filled his mind with a dramatic, melodramatic soap opera and didn’t dare board the flyer for a long time, afraid that a fire would break out at the city gate and he’d become the poor fish caught in the crossfire.
Since Achi, the deputy, didn’t board the flyer, the other members of the personal guard didn’t dare either. A dozen or so people stood by the flyer, staring at each other.
During these few minutes, Achi also watched Mu Mu, another protagonist in his mental soap opera, take a garbage bag to the garbage disposal and slowly walk back to the shop.
Achi scratched the back of his head. Seeing that Yan Gui Xing’s private flyer remained silent, he thought the matter was over. He waved his hand at the others, signaling them to board the flyer to return. At that moment, the three-finger-wide iron chain-like smart device on his left wrist vibrated violently, emitting a dazzling white light.
“Achi, something’s up? Is it the boss?” A burly man in a black suit standing next to Achi happened to see his smart device light up and asked.
Achi hummed, checking the information on his smart device without a moment’s delay.
His smart device screen was small, only about the width of his three fingers. But the font size was large, and a short line of text filled the small screen.
Achi: ???
He looked up at the cheerful strong man beside him, then looked down at the information on the screen.
This time, as if afraid of missing something, he pulled the screen out and held it in front of his eyes, enlarging it by twice. After reading it word by word, he slapped himself.
The man beside him was startled and hurriedly asked, “Bro, why did you slap yourself?”
Achi still felt he hadn’t hit himself hard enough, but fearing that others might think he was having a seizure, he could only manage a forced smile.
But his face was too dark, and his expression was too painful and conflicted. He looked like a villain with a forced smile, the man swallowed his saliva and didn’t dare say anything more.
Achi: “Slapped myself for being clumsy.”
The man didn’t understand and said, “Ah,” gesturing for Achi to explain.
Of course, Achi couldn’t explain. He pressed the floating screen back onto his smart device, patted the man on the shoulder, and said, “Sha Xia, have everyone board the flyer, pay attention to your surroundings, I’ll leave after I get back.”
Before Sha Xia could respond, he saw Achi run towards the shop entrance, his speed comparable to a cheetah chasing prey in an animal documentary.
He turned to look at Yan Gui Xing’s flyer and then at Achi’s disappearing back, pursing his lips. The general’s deputy wasn’t a position anyone could hold.
Five minutes later, Achi, neither flushed nor breathless, appeared in Yan Gui Xing’s private flyer. He sat in the pilot’s seat, closed the cabin door, pressed a button, and piloted the flyer to take off.
Yan Gui Xing, who had been resting with his eyes closed in the last row of white leather seats, lazily opened his eyelids when he heard the sound. His gaze lightly swept over the red spiky hair in front of him, and he said, “Achi, switch to autopilot, come and sit over here.”
Achi’s eyes flickered at the words, several thoughts flashing through his mind, but he immediately replied, “Yes,” and quickly disengaged the manual mode, setting the route and switching to automatic mode.
He went around the driver’s seat to the opposite side of Yan Gui Xing, sat properly with his hands on his knees.
Unfortunately, Achi was too tall; he sat there like a small mountain, making the relatively spacious area feel cramped.
Yan Gui Xing’s private flyer wasn’t very large. It was a military flyer repainted, with only six seats including the pilot’s seat.
In terms of interior decoration and comfort, it was naturally inferior to custom-made private flyers. But the safety factor and military weapons carried were unmatched by custom-made private flyers.
Yan Gui Xing was always cautious, or rather, somewhat suspicious. Except for his deputy, Achi, he rarely allowed others onto his private flyer.
He wasn’t entirely confident in the safety of autopilot, and in most cases, Achi drove manually.
Now that Yan Gui Xing had Achi set the autopilot, it was no wonder Achi was surprised.
Yan Gui Xing propped his head up with his left hand, his brows lowered, his long eyelashes casting a fan-shaped shadow under his eyelids. Perhaps due to the flyer’s lighting, his already pale face was as white as ice and snow, making him appear even more cold and imposing.
He remained silent for a long time, and Achi couldn’t figure out what he was thinking. He reviewed the events of the evening from beginning to end and found that the culprit who had ruined his superior’s good mood was none other than himself.
Achi cautiously drew his legs and shoulders in, trying to make his presence as minimal as possible, afraid of displeasing Yan Gui Xing again.
But there were only two people in the flyer, and Achi was personally chosen by Yan Gui Xing, so there was nowhere to hide.
“All taken care of?”
Achi nodded repeatedly, “Don’t worry, boss, I compensated that kid with 10,000 star coins.” Although Achi answered readily, he thought of his depleted wallet, and his head ached.
He didn’t understand why the kid was so liked by his boss that he actually had to pay the kid’s medical expenses out of his own pocket?!
Achi secretly checked his smart device on his left wrist, feeling very wronged. He just choked the kid’s neck a little and accidentally threw him to the ground, he wasn’t made of paper, how could he get hurt?
Yan Gui Xing lifted his eyelids, glanced at Achi, and asked, “Transferred directly to him?”
Achi guessed at his superior’s thoughts, forced a smile, and cautiously observed Yan Gui Xing’s expression, “I didn’t check the kid’s background, I was afraid the kid would get cheeky, so I didn’t give it to him directly. I transferred it to Li Niang, and let her handle it.”
Yan Gui Xing still had that lazy, somewhat drunk or sleepy look. He nodded noncommittally at the words.
“Well done. I was going to add a week of S-menu punishment, but I’ll change it to three days of B-menu.”
Achi’s scalp tingled. He never expected to have such a punishment.
The Fourth Army Corps’ training difficulty, intensity, and volume were divided into five levels: S, A, B, C, and D. Non-wartime daily training only included B and C.
During wartime preparations, it would only increase to B or A. The S menu only appeared before wartime.
With the S menu’s devilish training volume, one would need to lie in bed for two days after completing it. If he trained for a week, he’d probably be done for.
“Thank you, boss!” Achi once again thanked himself for his foresight, which saved his life.
Yan Gui Xing’s lips curved, “Not quite finished. By tomorrow afternoon at 6, I want to see that kid’s complete file. Remember, it must be detailed.”
To be honest, Achi was somewhat surprised that his boss would take a liking to that child. That kid was handsome, but he seemed dull and not very clever, and he had a disability. He was completely different from the smart, long-legged beauties his boss usually liked.
But however curious, Achi didn’t dare to delve into Yan Gui Xing’s heart.
Achi assured him, “Don’t worry, boss, I’ll have the kid’s file for you tomorrow.”
