Chapter 74: This is Actually a Multiple Choice Question
“Ten hours, huh.” Yan Gui Xing narrowed his eyes, his right index finger tapping his thigh rhythmically, as if thinking about something. He didn’t even answer the incoming communication.
Gongsun, who was standing in front of the screen looking at the data, turned his head curiously to look at Yan Gui Xing and casually asked, “Boss, aren’t you going to answer that?”
Only after Gongsun’s reminder did Yan Gui Xing seem to hear the light brain ringing.
He hooked a thin gold chain hanging down the side of his leg, pulling out the light brain from his pocket. He glanced casually at the name on the screen, “tsked,” and directly cut off the communication.
Before the light brain in Yan Gui Xing’s hand could go dark, it rang again. The result? It was cut off expressionlessly by Yan Gui Xing.
It rang again, and he cut it off again.
This repeated five times.
Gongsun raised an eyebrow in surprise, pulling up the roster of the Fourth Legion in his mind and going through everyone who could directly contact Yan Gui Xing.
He couldn’t think of who was so fearless as to dare to disturb Yan Gui Xing three times in a row today.
Seeing Yan Gui Xing’s tense jawline and grim expression, Gongsun felt that if the brave warrior dared to call again, what awaited him would certainly be his boss’s cold sarcasm package.
In fact, Gongsun’s worry was somewhat excessive. The person didn’t call again until the light brain in Yan Gui Xing’s hand went dark.
Gongsun secretly breathed a sigh of relief, thinking that this matter was over. As soon as he turned around, a knock came from the room, causing him to look at the closed door in surprise.
It’s not uncommon to have someone knock on the door in a hospital, and Gongsun, as the director, has just as much, if not more, work than Yan Gui Xing, sometimes even busier.
However, for today’s treatment, he had specifically sent a notice the day before, saying that he wouldn’t handle anything today, wouldn’t take any surgeries, and that no one should bother him about anything, specifically freeing up the entire day.
Therefore, the person knocking must be looking for Yan Gui Xing.
Gongsun looked at Yan Gui Xing and asked, “Boss, should we answer it?”
Yan Gui Xing lit up his light brain, looked at the missed calls from the same person on the screen, checked the time, and stood up holding the light brain.
Gongsun: “Boss?”
Yan Gui Xing walked straight to the door, saying, “I’ll get it. You keep an eye on the data.”
The eyes behind Gongsun’s glasses turned, and he understood that Yan Gui Xing knew who was knocking.
Furthermore, the person at the door was most likely the persistent warrior who had been calling. If not, it would still be related to those calls.
Gongsun guessed that his boss might be up to something again.
Speaking of which, although Gongsun was one of Yan Gui Xing’s trusted confidants, because he was in charge of the hospital, he spent most of his time either in his small building doing research or in the hospital, and his information was relatively behind.
For example, the doctor didn’t expect the person knocking on the door to be Achi, and Achi had come to remind Yan Gui Xing about the time.
Yan Gui Xing opened a crack in the door, gloomily looking at Achi’s face on the other side of the crack, and irritably asked, “What are you doing here? What time is it?”
After the door opened, Achi’s first sight was Yan Gui Xing’s gloomy face hidden in the shadows, a feeling of expectation.
That’s right, whoever was suddenly informed in the morning that their arranged marriage partner would be arriving on the day their lover was undergoing treatment, and that the person had to greet them personally, wouldn’t be in a good mood.
Achi said softly, “Head of the Yan family called, saying that Miss Mi set off two hours early and should be near Liuli Star by now.”
“The Head of the Yan family means that you should go to meet her personally.” Achi looked up at the metal room behind Yan Gui Xing, but the door was only opened a narrow crack.
The crack was completely blocked by Yan Gui Xing; Achi couldn’t see anything, “Boss, should I send someone to pick her up, or…?”
Hearing that the other party had changed the already-set itinerary, Yan Gui Xing’s face immediately fell, turning so dark it was almost like ink could drip from it. The surge of anger almost made him curse.
He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and suppressed his emotions. When he opened his eyes again, his expression had softened somewhat, no longer as terrifying as before.
He said coldly, “I’ll go myself.”
The expected answer still made Achi pause. Well, although Achi agreed with Yan Gui Xing’s decision to accept the arranged marriage,
upon learning that Miss Mi would be arriving today, he felt a little amusement at Yan Gui Xing’s expense but also a bit of resentment towards him.
Things have priorities, and people have degrees of closeness. Compared to the yet-to-be-met Miss Mi, Achi naturally favored Mu Mu, with whom he had spent a long time.
Although the repair tank is absolutely safe and doesn’t have the same risk of accidents as regular surgery, it’s still a bit excessive to leave Mu Mu in the repair tank to go pick up his fiancée.
Intellectually, Achi understood Yan Gui Xing’s actions, but emotionally, he still felt it was wrong.
However, most of his resentment was directed at Miss Mi. They had already set a time for her arrival on Liuli Star, yet she refused to keep the agreement and repeatedly changed it – it was incredibly capricious.
Before even meeting her, Yan Gui Xing and Achi’s favorability towards this Miss Mi had dropped to zero.
“Boss, what about Madam?”
Yan Gui Xing’s brow furrowed, turning his head towards the room behind him. His hand, hidden behind his back, clenched into a fist, the veins on his hand bulging.
“It’s just picking someone up. I’ll be back soon.”
When he said this, Yan Gui Xing genuinely thought he could return quickly and personally take Mu Mu out of the repair tank.
After all, he had ten hours. Even if he had to meet the army commander, he could see them all.
It was just a pampered young lady from a noble family; besides this arranged marriage, they had nothing else to talk about. Picking her up and leaving should only take an hour or two.
He still thought this way until he boarded the starship. But he forgot about a term called “false reporting” and another called “spoiled and willful.”
The dark silver starship belonging to the Fourth Legion’s commander had patrolled the entire star system without a sign of the legendary Mi family’s private spacecraft.
Yan Gui Xing crossed his arms, his face grim as he watched the slowly flowing starscape ahead. The magnificent beauty couldn’t dispel the killing intent surrounding him.
The huge command room was silent. Everyone lowered their heads, hunched their shoulders, trying to minimize their presence and avoid being noticed by the furious Yan Gui Xing.
“That,” Yan Wangbei’s voice sounded in the command room, clearly a little nervous, “Secretary Mi did tell me that the spacecraft had arrived in the Liuli Star system.”
“Heh,” Yan Gui Xing sneered, “In the Liuli Star system? I’ve patrolled the entire system and haven’t found the Mi family’s spacecraft. You tell me it’s in the Liuli Star system. What? Did the captain lose the ability to drive and fall into a spacetime rift?”
Hearing the words “spacetime rift,” Yan Wangbei choked on his saliva, coughing several times, and hurriedly said, “Why would you say such things? Just wish Miss Mi well!”
People and Zerg in the interstellar world know how dangerous spacetime rifts are. It’s Pandora’s Box; no one knows if entering it will lead to a shortcut to another planet, traveling back to ancient Earth to be treated as a rare specimen and dissected, or being directly shredded by violent air currents.
Therefore, spacetime rifts have become one of the most feared terms in the interstellar world.
Yan Gui Xing’s voice was cold and cruel. “Don’t waste words. Contact Secretary Mi now, get the spacecraft’s exact coordinates, and send them to me.”
Hearing his son’s commanding tone, Yan Wangbei held back a retort, but intimidated by Yan Gui Xing’s cold voice filled with killing intent and bloodlust, he didn’t dare speak. He quickly responded and hung up.
Yan Gui Xing looked down at the time on the console: eleven o’clock. He had been in the star system for three hours.
This meant he had six hours left until Mu Mu came out of the repair tank. And he didn’t know how much longer it would take to see that damn Miss Mi.
Yan Gui Xing slowly closed his eyes, gritting his teeth, his jawline sharp, and tiny blood vessels bulging on his temples.
Looking at the star map in his hand, Achi walked to Yan Gui Xing’s side and softly said, “Boss, further ahead is the star system under the jurisdiction of General Desimo. We can’t go any further.”
Yan Gui Xing opened his eyes. Ahead was no longer the brilliant silver Milky Way but an almost black, dark blue, vast and boundless.
It’s difficult to distinguish the boundaries between star systems with the naked eye.
Yan Gui Xing wanted to keep the starship going until they found the Mi family’s private spacecraft.
But entering another’s star system without permission from the commander or star lord during their closure of the system would be considered an invasion. More seriously, it could be considered treason, and the other party could use high-powered weapons directly without needing permission from the military.
Yan Gui Xing’s temples began to throb, and he ordered in a low voice, “Turn around, go back.”
The dark silver starship, bearing the Fourth Legion emblem, left the dark blue and returned to the brilliant Milky Way.
About five minutes later, the light brain Yan Gui Xing had thrown on the console rang twice. His slender fingers tapped the screen, and the next second Yan Wangbei’s urgent voice rang out in the command room.
“I’ve sent you the coordinates. Secretary Mi said Miss Mi is shopping on Talli Star and will leave in half an hour…”
Yan Gui Xing suddenly grabbed the light brain and, amidst the gasps of everyone behind him, slammed it to the ground.
Achi, having followed Yan Gui Xing for so many years, could guess what he was going to do just by looking at his expression. He quickly said, “Boss, the Fifth Legion commander hasn’t closed the star system. We can enter.”
Yan Gui Xing placed his hands on the edge of the console and coldly ordered, “Full speed to the jump point. I want to reach Talli Star within twenty minutes.”
