Little Fool Chapter 8

Chapter 8: Boss, I want Yan-xiansheng’s contact information

Three o’clock in the morning was closing time for the shop.

Mu Mu moved slowly. After changing his clothes and tidying the cabinets, everyone else had already left. The once lively break room was now empty except for him.

Mu Mu turned off the lights and left the break room with his small satchel.

The hall, devoid of customers, had already been cleaned. Only a dim, amber light was on above the bar.

The insufficient light couldn’t illuminate the entire circular bar, let alone the hundreds of square meters of hall.

The vast space was dark and quiet, only the humming of the exhaust fans, somewhat eerie.

Mu Mu was used to this kind of environment and didn’t find it strange. He even looked up at the dark ceiling, as if he could see through the darkness to the exhaust fan’s outlet.

He guessed the exhaust fans must have been turned on before all the guests left, otherwise, how could they have removed the unpleasant mix of alcohol, perfume, tobacco, and hormones so quickly?

Mu Mu thought he must have guessed correctly, and smiled happily, his eyes curving.

However, he didn’t dare linger. He had a hotel delivery job at 10 am; it was his main job and main source of income. Taking advantage of the fact that there were no customers in the hall and no one would notice his limp, he walked towards the door with large strides, limping slightly.

Passing the bar area, Mu Mu subconsciously looked towards the light and saw the boss sitting on a dark red wooden high stool by the bar.

She sat in the dimly lit area. The dim light blurred her charming and amorous outline, making her alluring beauty more hazy and gentle.

Mu Mu was a good boy. Upon seeing the boss, he stood properly, holding his satchel strap, and politely said, “Boss, I’m leaving now, goodbye.”

“Wait, don’t go yet.” The boss called out to Mu Mu, who was about to leave, beckoning him with a finger like she was calling a pet, signaling him to come closer.

Mu Mu obediently went over and stopped half a meter away from the boss.

The boss sighed, leaned forward, and patted the black cushion on the high stool beside her, “Am I that scary? Come sit.”

“Ah?” Mu Mu tilted his head to look at the boss, then at the high stool beside her, his confusion undisguised.

Despite his confusion, he still obediently went to the spot the boss indicated and stood at attention in front of the high stool.

The boss said nothing, just stared intently at Mu Mu’s face. The scrutinizing gaze made Mu Mu feel uneasy. He pursed his lips tightly, clutching his bag strap so hard that his knuckles turned white.

The scene was too similar to every time he got fired. Thinking of the wine he spilled in the private room, he swallowed, hesitantly saying, “Boss, did I do something wrong?”

As if she had seen enough, the boss lowered her eyes, rubbed her temples, and softly said, “I don’t know what got into that guy, to actually take a liking to such a little fool.”

The boss’s voice was very soft. Normally, Mu Mu’s old and broken hearing aid wouldn’t have picked it up.

But now they were less than an arm’s length apart, and only the two of them were in the large space. Every word she said was clearly transmitted to Mu Mu’s ears by the old hearing aid.

He didn’t understand what the boss meant by “that guy,” but he knew “little fool” referred to him.

Being called a “little fool” didn’t evoke any particular feeling in Mu Mu. It wasn’t because he wasn’t self-conscious, didn’t want to argue, or didn’t resist—he’d done all that when he was younger.

It was all useless.

Oh, not quite. Resistance would only make the bullies happier and louder.

Gradually, Mu Mu got used to the nickname “little fool.” No matter who called him that, he could always offer a naive smile.

And this smile often made those who bullied him stop with a curse or a “You’re really a fool.”

Indeed, Mu Mu’s smile made the boss feel a little awkward. She realized she had spoken carelessly. Embarrassed, she raised her hand, making a fist to cover her mouth, cleared her throat softly, and then said, “You didn’t do anything wrong. I didn’t call you over to scold you. That big shot in the private room gave you 10,000 for medical expenses, I’ll transfer it to you.”

Mu Mu’s not-so-bright mind was even more confused by the successive pieces of information. He thought of Yan Gui Xing’s stunningly beautiful face and the icy scent that lingered under his nose when the other man leaned on his back.

“Boss, you mean that handsome gentleman gave me 10,000 star coins?” Mu Mu excitedly took a step forward, looking at the boss intently, his voice somewhat urgent from excitement.

The boss didn’t think much of it at the moment, just assuming that the poor Mu Mu was excited because he suddenly knew he had 10,000 star coins.

She picked up the gold chain of her smart device from the bar, twirling it between her fingers, teasingly saying, “Yeah, 10,000. Enough to pay your rent for five years. Are you happy?”

Mu Mu’s cheeks flushed, smiling and nodding repeatedly. He fiddled with the loose threads on his satchel strap and softly asked, “Boss, can I know that gentleman’s surname?”

The boss looked at Mu Mu in surprise, “You don’t know who he is?”

It wasn’t surprising she was so surprised. That was Yan Gui Xing, the Empire’s five-star General, the Star Lord of Glass Star, a man who appeared in gossip news more often than military news.

Mu Mu nodded honestly. He really didn’t know who Yan Gui Xing was.

The boss thought for a moment. Mu Mu worked so many jobs, spending most of his free time sleeping, not watching the news or following gossip. It was normal that he didn’t know what Yan Gui Xing looked like.

She sighed and said, “His surname is Yan, like the bird.”

Mu Mu silently memorized it, fiddling with the loose thread, and softly asked, “Then, Boss, do you have Mr. Yan’s contact information? I want it.”

The boss, who had just lowered her head to transfer the money to Mu Mu, suddenly looked up, her peach blossom eyes widened in surprise, even bigger than Mu Mu’s almond eyes.

“What do you want his contact information for?!”

“I…” Mu Mu pursed his lips, somehow feeling shy. He lowered his eyes, his fingertips rubbing the rough fabric of his satchel strap, his voice as soft as a mosquito’s buzz, “I want to send him a message to thank him.”

The boss stared at Mu Mu in shock, momentarily unable to comment on his act of throwing himself into the lion’s den.

The boss was experienced in the world. Being able to connect with Yan Gui Xing and be a top dog in the nightclub, her skill, scheming, and insight were naturally impressive.

From Mu Mu leaving the private room unscathed to Achi personally returning to transfer the medical expenses, it wasn’t difficult to guess that this little fool, Mu Mu, had caught Yan Gui Xing’s eye.

As for how much, the boss didn’t dare, couldn’t, and didn’t want to guess. After all, she didn’t intend to use Mu Mu to curry favor with Yan Gui Xing.

Seeing Mu Mu’s bright eyes and expectant look, the boss suddenly felt a headache.

She admitted that she wasn’t a good person, but she couldn’t bear to watch this little fool foolishly rush in and be devoured by Yan Gui Xing, leaving nothing but bones.

What a disaster! The boss closed her eyes in distress.

“Mu Mu, listen to the boss’s advice. Quietly accept the money, forget this incident, and forget about Mr. Yan.”

“Mr. Yan is not someone like us ordinary people can provoke. Just live a normal life and don’t think too much.”

“In the future…” The boss paused, her voice filled with hesitation and sincerity, “In the future, if you meet him again, remember to stay as far away as possible!”
