Little Fool Chapter 11

Chapter 11: Guests of the Golden District 1

“Arrived at Golden District 1, estimated stop time is three minutes. Passengers are requested to manage their time accordingly to avoid delaying the journey.”

The public flyer slowly stopped at the station. After a “ding” sound, a sweet, almost realistic, robotic female voice echoed in the empty flyer.

The main city of Glass Star was divided into seven districts. Golden District 1 was also known as the Rich District. As the name implies, those who lived there were the top echelon of Glass Star.

These people all owned private flyers or the Empire’s popular vintage cars. They wouldn’t normally take the dilapidated public flyers.

Furthermore, Golden District 1 was the only purely residential area in Glass Star, with no tourist attractions.

Therefore, the only people who would take the public flyer to Golden District 1 were delivery personnel like Mu Mu, or those working for the wealthy residents of Golden District 1. The flyer, with a capacity of fifty people, often had an occupancy rate of less than 3%.

It’s worth mentioning that Golden District 1 was exceptionally beautiful and dreamy.

The roadsides were planted with flame trees, their fiery red blossoms stretching as far as the eye could see.

Whether looking down from the flyer or passing through it, it was a stunning visual experience.

Coupled with colorful, vintage, gorgeous buildings, it was as if one had entered a fairy tale world, both dreamy and childlike.

In the past, Glass Star had won second place for the most beautiful planet in the Empire thanks to the unique scenery of Golden District 1.

As an aside, the first place was General De Simo’s Rose Star. According to the old-fashioned judges, Rose Star had more profound history and a richer cultural atmosphere than Glass Star.

Anyone could hear the judge’s sarcasm at Yan Gui Xing’s background, suggesting that he was not as noble and respectable as Seville De Simo.

During a post-event interview with Imperial media, Yan Gui Xing smiled in front of the camera and congratulated General De Simo, saying that he deserved the award.

But the following year, when the Empire’s Most Beautiful Planet was selected again, the old-fashioned man who had served as a judge for ten consecutive years and claimed he would be a judge for life refused to attend.

As for the reason, he said his own aesthetic was flawed and he dared not talk nonsense and mislead the audience.

Back to the main point, Mu Mu, who had been sitting by the window watching the scenery since boarding the public flyer, hurriedly hugged the three-tiered food boxes beside him when he heard the announcement and limped quickly towards the exit, afraid of being late for the delivery.

The roads in Golden District 1 were much wider than those in the commercial district where Mu Mu usually worked. The young people living here followed Imperial trends and didn’t like to drive flyers, preferring vintage cars.

Mu Mu had never seen these colorful cars of various heights and shapes. They drove so fast, like flyers about to take off. Every time Mu Mu crossed the road, he tightly hugged his food boxes, desperately running from one side to the other, afraid of being hit.

After dodging several speeding silver sports cars for the third time and crossing a long road, he finally saw the house of the person who ordered the food he was carrying—

—a milky white building that was partially hidden amongst the red flame trees.

Mu Mu finally breathed a sigh of relief. This was his first time in Golden District 1. Although he had looked at the route navigation with the boss at the shop beforehand and knew the route from the station to the customer’s house was easy to find,

he was still afraid of getting lost, so he had left half an hour earlier than usual, giving himself ample time to find his way.

Mu Mu hadn’t expected it to be so smooth, not getting lost once.

Thinking of the delivery fee he was about to receive, a happy expression was unavoidable, his round almond eyes curving into two crescent moons, making him look incredibly cute.

What a lucky day! He would have to thank the kind customer later.

Mu Mu walked briskly past the iron fence covered with pink climbing roses to the large, heart-shaped iron gate.

He found the bronze nameplate on the wall next to the gate. After confirming the address was correct, he entered a string of numbers from the order notes into the video intercom below the nameplate.

Mu Mu thought the string of numbers was a password to talk to the customer, and after entering it, he carefully adjusted his bangs and collar, which had become messy from his fast walk, fearing he might leave a sloppy impression on the customer and receive a bad review.

If possible, Mu Mu would quite like to develop a long-term customer.

One second later, the customer’s face didn’t appear on the dark screen. Instead, a “click” sound of the lock opening came from the iron gate beside it.

Mu Mu leaned out in surprise and saw a narrow gap appear between the two iron gates—the door opened.

He hugged his food boxes tighter and slowly realized that the string of numbers was actually the access code.

“So dangerous,” Mu Mu pouted, walking towards the gate, muttering, “Even kindergarten children know not to tell strangers their home password! It’s easy to get robbed!”

Little did he know that as soon as he entered the code, he had already connected to the owner’s smart device, and his quiet muttering was heard clearly by the man sitting in front of the screen, who was currently leaning back in his chair, chuckling.

After entering the gate, Mu Mu politely closed the iron gate. Hearing a “click,” he walked inside with peace of mind.

His thought was simple: he was truly afraid of thieves sneaking into the customer’s house with him.

He didn’t think about or know that the houses in Golden District 1 had a complete security system; without the owner’s permission, one couldn’t even enter the courtyard. No thief would be stupid enough to steal here.

However, Mu Mu’s small action made the man in front of the screen suppress his smile, his lake-green eyes filled with complexity.

As for why Mu Mu was here, it had to start with the three-tiered food boxes in his arms.

Although Glass Star’s medical resources were the most expensive in the Empire, making them inaccessible to ordinary people, its unique ecological environment and natural resources made it the planet closest to ancient Earth.

Take food, for example. On other planets, the low yield of grains and vegetables made them expensive ingredients, affordable only to nobles or the middle class. Ordinary people could only drink nutrient fluid.

But Glass Star had extremely high yields of grains and vegetables, making them much cheaper than other planets. Ordinary families could afford them.

Nutrient fluid was a choice for those seeking high efficiency or the poor, like Mu Mu.

After all, everyone likes to sit down and enjoy a delicious meal, not drink tasteless, sticky nutrient fluid.

Speaking of which, it was thanks to this unique environment that Mu Mu was able to find many jobs to support himself.

Mu Mu’s second job, and his main job, besides working as a waiter in the nightclub, was working as a waiter and delivery person at a restaurant in the commercial area.

The restaurant was the largest in the surrounding area, and the chef’s skills were excellent!

At mealtimes, besides white-collar workers from nearby companies or people shopping nearby, many people from other districts who had heard of the restaurant ordered takeout, making the business incredibly booming.

Normally, such a busy restaurant wouldn’t hire someone as thin and disabled as Mu Mu.

But the kind-hearted boss, and Mu Mu being introduced by Zheng An, who had worked as a cashier for him for over ten years, only asked a few simple questions before hiring him.

One ordinary lunchtime rush hour, the overweight boss hid behind the cash register, handling takeout orders on the platform.

“Huh?” He paused his fat finger hovering over the green “accept” button, his eyes scanning the notes, “Specifically requesting ‘little fool’ to deliver? Wow! And it’s from the Rich District?”

Actually, customers assigning delivery personnel was normal. Some regular customers who got along well with a certain waiter would request a specific delivery person. The boss would give the delivery person extra overtime pay, and they were happy to do a favor in return for more thoughtful service later.

However, such good opportunities usually didn’t fall on Mu Mu, for the simple reason that he was not as eloquent as other waiters at networking with customers.

Besides the boss taking care of Mu Mu’s income and giving him some deliveries, no one had specifically requested Mu Mu to deliver.

This was why the boss was so surprised to see someone requesting Mu Mu, and even a customer from the rich district.

He poked his head out from the cash register, looking for the small figure in the bustling hall, wondering when the restaurant had served a customer from the rich district, and how Mu Mu had connected with this customer.

At that moment, Zheng An finished checking out a table of customers and returned to the cash register. He saw the boss resting his chin on the counter, squinting his eyes, not knowing what he was looking at.

He followed the boss’s gaze and saw that besides the customers dining, there were only a few waiters walking back and forth. Confused, he asked,

“Boss, what are you looking at? Did someone start arguing, or fighting?”
