Chapter 30: Feeding Half a Custard Bun
Mu Mu didn’t answer immediately but quietly looked at Yan Gui Xing. Those black eyes were calm and clear, like a spotless mirror, or like the angels from Old Earth paintings Yan Gui Xing had seen in the capital star.
Yan Gui Xing was unnerved by those eyes, and for a moment, he felt like Mu Mu had seen through his sordid inner self.
He wanted to escape, to flee from the gaze of those eyes. But he even more wanted to possess those eyes, and their owner, to make them look only at him.
But the next moment, after Mu Mu lowered his eyes, Yan Gui Xing felt his previous thoughts were absurd.
The one sitting before him was merely a physically disabled simpleton; how could he see through him?
“Mu Mu… Mu Mu likes Mr. Yan too,” Mu Mu shyly lowered his head, his ears flushed red, very cute. “Mu Mu is willing to be with Mr. Yan.”
It was an expected answer, yet when Yan Gui Xing heard Mu Mu say it in that soft voice and peculiar tone, his joy was as great as when he received the authorization for Liuli Star from the Emperor.
Yan Gui Xing instinctively leaned over and hugged Mu Mu, wrapping his arms around his slender body. He then laughed at himself, like a lovestruck teenager.
He had orchestrated all this; he wanted nothing more than for this little simpleton to fall into his embrace. The ending had been written long ago; what was there to be excited or surprised about?
Despite his thoughts, the smile on Yan Gui Xing’s face widened. The usually pervasive coldness dissipated, and his whole being softened.
If Achi, Gongsun, or any of Yan Gui Xing’s subordinates were to see such a gentle Yan Gui Xing, their jaws would surely drop. They might even slap themselves to see if they were dreaming.
After hugging for a while, Yan Gui Xing heard Mu Mu’s stomach rumbling happily and finally remembered Mu Mu was hungry.
He patted Mu Mu’s head reassuringly and refused his request for nutrient solution. After inquiring about Mu Mu’s taste preferences and receiving the answer that Mu Mu had only ever drunk nutrient solution, his heart ached.
Yan Gui Xing asked Mu Mu to wait a moment and went to the other room to video call Gongsun, asking what food Mu Mu could eat now.
Gongsun, on the screen, clearly hadn’t expected Yan Gui Xing to call so early in the morning to ask this. He was stunned, blank-faced, not knowing what expression to make, unable to utter a word for a long time.
Only after Yan Gui Xing impatiently urged him did Gongsun, in a daze, repeat the precautions he had told Yan Gui Xing last night.
Yan Gui Xing had a good memory and recalled the middle and end after hearing the beginning.
In the past, he would have interrupted Gongsun, asking if there were other precautions. Upon receiving a negative answer, he would have ended the call.
But this time, he patiently listened to the repeated content and only ended the call after confirming there was no new information.
Gongsun stared at the darkened screen, tilting his head and blankly looking at the rows of bottles and jars on his table before finally showing a smile that indicated he had discovered a great secret.
He stood up abruptly, sending his swivel chair rolling backward and crashing into the experimental bench before stopping.
“Such a big secret can’t be kept to myself; everyone must know!” Adhering to the principle that shared joy is greater than joy alone, Gongsun opened his contact list and sent a group invitation for lunch.
He watched the “OK” and “Got it” replies popping up, a white light reflected from his glasses, and covered his face with his fair, slender hand, chuckling.
It was fortunate the other party couldn’t see his bizarre expression, or they would have certainly rejected the invitation.
Of course, half an hour later, after Achi and the others learned the purpose of Gongsun’s lunch invitation, they all had strained expressions, looking as if they had been choked.
The several burly men looked at the amiable military doctor sharing a secret with a smile, unable to fight back or leave.
Damn it! Who wants to care about the boss’s love life?! As long as this simpleton could keep the boss in a good mood and not make them do extra training, they would be thankful!
Please! Doctor, don’t jump around and displease the boss; don’t let us suffer the consequences of your actions!
The men had their grievances; they couldn’t offend their boss, nor the scheming, kind-faced doctor. The latter half of the lunch was spent with them choking on their food, secretly vowing to reject the doctor’s invitations next time!
Back with Yan Gui Xing, Xiao Ting was a very practical robotic housekeeper. Although a bit chatty, he worked quickly and efficiently, preparing a sumptuous nutritious breakfast for Mu Mu in just fifteen minutes.
Of course, the menu was provided by Yan Gui Xing. Xiao Ting expressed his disapproval after reviewing it and searched his database for a convalescent patient’s breakfast menu.
The dining location was Yan Gui Xing’s bed.
That’s right! Yan Gui Xing’s bed. Yan Gui Xing personally accepted the small table from Xiao Ting, placed it on the bed, and then placed the plate filled with a sumptuous breakfast on the table.
Xiao Ting, eager to curry favor with his future mistress, looked at his empty hands, then at Yan Gui Xing, who was already sitting on the bed, holding Mu Mu’s shoulders and teaching him how to use chopsticks. He was so angry that he showed a teary-eyed expression, ignored Yan Gui Xing’s attempts to dismiss him, and huffily turned and ran.
Mu Mu had only used tableware before the age of ten; they were miniature baby-sized ladles and chopsticks.
After he grew older, because he only drank nutrient solution, he had never used tableware again, and his memory of using them was hazy.
Moreover, after the accident, his head injury had made him a little slow. It took Yan Gui Xing many repetitions to teach Mu Mu how to use chopsticks.
Mu Mu awkwardly picked up a custard bun from the small bowl, looked up at Yan Gui Xing with a smile, his face clearly asking for praise.
Yan Gui Xing was happy to fulfill Mu Mu’s harmless, even cute, request.
He tightened his arms around Mu Mu’s waist, pulling him closer, leaned down and kissed the tip of his ear peeking from his black hair, and gently praised, “Our Mu Mu is so amazing; you learned it right away.”
The praised Mu Mu smiled even more happily, raised the custard bun towards Yan Gui Xing, and said, “Mr. Yan, eat.”
“For me?” Yan Gui Xing’s smile faded slightly; he looked surprised at the custard bun, which was misshapen due to Mu Mu’s inability to control his grip.
Mu Mu nodded, touched the custard bun to Yan Gui Xing’s mouth, and made an “ah” sound as if urging him.
The custard bun had been reheated by Xiao Ting. Although it wasn’t steaming, it was still hot. The skin of the lips is thin; the instant contact caused Yan Gui Xing to recoil slightly.
Yan Gui Xing looked at the misshapen custard bun, as if he couldn’t believe the simpleton was feeding him, and confirmed, “Is it really for me?”
“Yes, Mr. Yan, open your mouth quickly; Mu Mu can’t hold it anymore; the bun is about to fall,” Mu Mu had just learned to use chopsticks and couldn’t control his grip well. His fingers were a little sore from the effort.
Yan Gui Xing was amused by Mu Mu’s serious expression and cooperatively opened his mouth, taking a bite of the custard bun.
The custard filling was a little hot. Yan Gui Xing quickly chewed it twice and swallowed it.
When he wanted to eat the remaining half of the custard bun on his chopsticks, he saw Mu Mu naturally put the half-eaten bun into his mouth.
Yan Gui Xing was stunned for a moment, looking at Mu Mu’s puffed-up cheek; the sweet taste lingering in his mouth seemed even more intense.
He shook his head and chuckled. He hadn’t been fed food by lovers before, but it was mostly alcohol, and the purpose was usually to flirt.
This was his first time being fed such a sweet bun, and it was also the first time the person feeding him ate the rest themselves.
It was quite interesting.
Yan Gui Xing tilted his head, watching Mu Mu’s cheeks puff up as he ate, finding it incredibly cute, like a hamster with bulging cheeks.
He couldn’t help himself and poked the cheek swollen from food. The owner of the cheek tilted his head, looking at Yan Gui Xing in a daze, not understanding why he was poking him.
The expression was so cute that Yan Gui Xing’s heart softened. His decision to get Mu Mu by his side was indeed right!
He poked the puffed-up cheek twice more, pretending to care, “Eat slowly; don’t choke. Lunch is coming soon; don’t eat too much; your stomach needs room for lunch.”
Hearing about lunch, Mu Mu’s eyes lit up. After swallowing the food in his mouth, he asked expectantly, “Mr. Yan, can Mu Mu eat such delicious buns at lunch?”
“Custard buns are for breakfast; we don’t eat them for lunch,” he said with a smile. “I can assure you that lunch will be even more delicious.”
Hearing there was something even more delicious, Mu Mu’s eyes shone brighter.
He patted his round belly through his loose shirt, reluctantly looking at the remaining half of the food on the plate.
Yan Gui Xing noticed Mu Mu’s little actions, his smile deepening. He leaned against Mu Mu’s back and asked, “Are you full?”
Mu Mu pursed his lips and nodded. He had eaten five custard buns and a large glass of milk; his stomach was already full, but he could still fit two more custard buns.
But Mr. Yan said there was something even more delicious, and he really wanted to eat it. But he also really liked these sweet custard buns.
Yan Gui Xing saw through Mu Mu’s little thoughts and said with a smile, “If you’re full, don’t eat anymore; you might upset your stomach. After washing up, I’ll take you for a walk in the garden to digest your food before lunch.”
Mu Mu reluctantly looked at the food on the plate, leaned against Yan Gui Xing’s embrace, and said, “Can Mu Mu save these to eat tomorrow?”
【Author’s Note】: Yan Gui Xing: He fed me a custard bun; he must like me! Wait a minute! What’s with the half? Does it mean he likes me halfway???
