Chapter 79: The Fiancé’s Lover
Mi Ya admitted that Yan Gui Xing was handsome and had excellent temperament; he was, in every respect, an ideal choice for a spouse. However, his illegitimate birth meant he could never truly be her husband.
But as long as they were publicly engaged, Yan Gui Xing’s life had to be squeaky clean.
Mi Ya had hesitated whether to use her family’s connections to investigate Yan Gui Xing. However, after being continuously ignored by Yan Gui Xing for three days, she decisively sent a message to her father, asking him to investigate whether Yan Gui Xing had any other lovers.
When she asked Anna if her father had replied, this is what she meant.
Anna opened her datapad, saw a reply from her father, the Mi family secretary, and hurriedly said, “Yes, Miss. Your father replied.”
Mi Ya’s eyes narrowed. “Read it to me,” she said directly.
She and Anna had grown up together. Anna was both a loyal servant and a sister to her. They often did things together; Mi Ya didn’t hide this investigation from Anna.
The message wasn’t short; it contained few words, mainly photos. One protagonist was Yan Gui Xing, and the other was a delicate and cute boy named Mu Mu.
The backgrounds included shopping malls, amusement parks, and hospitals. The photos depicted intimate interactions between the two.
Mi Ya folded her arms, looking at the photos on the floating screen, raising her eyebrows in mockery. “I never thought that Yan Gui Xing, who always looks so impatient, could smile so gently.”
Anna, upon hearing this, urged, “Miss, is this the time for this? This Mu Mu is still staying at Marshal Yan’s house!”
Mi Ya smiled and glanced at her maid, pointing at the datapad and scrolling up the screen. “What’s the rush? The person’s right here; they’re not going anywhere.”
Anna didn’t know whether Mi Ya was referring to Yan Gui Xing or the shameless little vixen in the photo. Seeing Mi Ya intently staring at the screen, she didn’t dare interrupt, only anxiously waiting.
After about five minutes, Mi Ya closed the screen and tossed the datapad to Anna. Anna caught it clumsily as Mi Ya returned to the closet to choose an outfit.
Anna became even more anxious, following Mi Ya and asking, “Miss, aren’t you worried? How can you still have the heart to choose clothes?”
“Of course, I’m worried,” Mi Ya took out a long, muted gray dress, held it high, and admired it carefully.
“Yan Gui Xing is supposed to marry me, yet he’s keeping a child at home. If the media finds out, my reputation will be ruined.”
Anna snatched the dress from Mi Ya’s hands, urging, “So, Miss, aren’t you going to do something?”
Mi Ya gestured toward the dress in Anna’s hands, asking, “Does this dress look better or the pale yellow one?”
Anna frowned and exclaimed, “Ah!”
Mi Ya sighed softly, running a hand through her long, wavy hair. “How can I face that lover without choosing the right battle attire?”
Anna blinked, slowly understanding what Mi Ya meant. She quickly put the datapad in her pocket, held the muted gray dress, and quickly went to the closet to help Mi Ya find clothes.
Mi Ya looked at Anna, who was acting as if she’d been injected with stimulants, and sighed again, sitting on the nearby sofa. “Don’t be so nervous. The other person is…” She thought of the description of Mu Mu—left leg disability, hearing impairment, intellectual disability—and her brow furrowed, a puzzled expression on her usually serene face.
“Anna, why would Yan Gui Xing suddenly take in a disabled person? Does he have some kind of perverse hobby?”
Anna’s mind was filled with Mi Ya confronting the lover, so excited she couldn’t process what Mi Ya was saying.
She pulled out several differently colored dresses from the closet, saying to Mi Ya, “Miss, try these on; each one will definitely overwhelm the other party in terms of presence.”
Mi Ya looked at the excited Anna and pressed her temple. However, she stood up and took the dress Anna offered.

Art Gallery, Second Floor
The old painter, hands behind his back, curiously circled Mu Mu, who was sitting at an easel, diligently painting.
Mu Mu, slightly dizzy from the painter’s circling, tugged on his sleeve when he approached. “Boss, could you stop spinning? Mu Mu’s head is getting dizzy.”
The old painter leaned down, his somewhat dry fingers pushing back the curly hair covering Mu Mu’s ears, curiously pinching his earlobe. He examined it from left to right. “Can you really hear now?”
Mu Mu smiled and nodded. “Yes, I can really hear!”
The old painter became even more curious. He pulled over a nearby stool and sat beside Mu Mu, squinting in observation. He lowered his voice. “Even this soft sound? Can you hear it?”
Mu Mu smiled. “Yes, Mu Mu is just like everyone else now.”
“That’s wonderful,” the old painter released Mu Mu’s earlobe, sitting up straight, but his gaze remained fixed on Mu Mu’s ears, clearly still very interested.
“That’s good, that’s good.” Although the old painter didn’t show much expression, his voice clearly indicated his genuine happiness for Mu Mu.
Mu Mu smiled sincerely. “Thank you, Boss.”
The old painter waved his hand. “Why thank me? I didn’t help you with anything. Hey, what are you drawing?”
The old painter’s gaze fell on the outline sketched on the paper. He touched his chin. “Is this… a person? You’re going to draw a person? A cartoon? A portrait?”
Seeing that his draft had been discovered, Mu Mu shyly scratched his cheek and whispered, “I want to draw a portrait. Didn’t you teach me before, Boss? I want to give Gui Gui a gift, but I don’t know what to give him, so I thought I’d paint him a picture.”
Hearing Mu Mu affectionately calling Yan Gui Xing “Gui Gui,” the old painter clicked his teeth. To be honest, after spending so much time with Mu Mu, he still couldn’t get used to that nickname.
It was too cloying. After silently complaining to himself, the old painter carefully examined the outline Mu Mu had sketched.
He picked up a pencil, asked Mu Mu whether he wanted a half-body or full-body portrait, and then, while explaining, helped Mu Mu make corrections.
The morning passed, and the outline of the half-body portrait was basically complete.
The old painter patted Mu Mu on the shoulder. “Take a break. Let’s eat before we continue.”
Mu Mu then realized that the whole morning had passed. He tapped his stiff back, stretched, and was about to go to the restaurant opposite with the old painter when he heard the wind chime at the downstairs door.
A customer had arrived.
Mu Mu and the old painter exchanged glances and looked towards the door.
Mu Mu spoke first. “Boss, I’ll go take a look. If it’s someone who wants to buy paintings, I’ll call you down.”
[Author’s Note]: Mi Ya will not like Yan someone, she is just a passerby in Yan someone‘s love life~
