Chapter 21: Good Brothers
When Ruoyi heard that Yu An often went to the Base to play but wasn’t familiar with the people there, she proactively asked for Wen Xun’s laptop. Logging into her own account, she very generously sent the entire 5TB package of data to Yu An’s Little White.
The memory size was so massive that Little White actually froze for several minutes.
After processing all the data, the pure and innocent look in Little White’s eyes changed instantly. It began to radiate the light of gossip, its gaze seemingly able to pierce through everyone present.
When it looked at Wen Xun and Lin Huaichen, it let out two subtle chuckles, covering its mouth with its small wings. It then dove into Yu An’s arms, letting out an amazed “Wow.”
Wen Xun, Lin Huaichen: “…”
It was hair-raising.
Yu An was extremely curious about the gift Ruoyi had given him and asked impatiently, “Little White, Little White, what did Auntie give me?”
“Very good things!” Little White told him with a giggle. “What does Little Master want to know? Little White can tell you everything. According to Little White’s mastery of the data, Little White knows that when Master Lin was eight, he secretly climbed over the wall into the Wen house to find Master Wen. He didn’t expect Mama Wen to be home, and when he ran, he broke his—”
“Cough-cough! Little White!”
Lin Huaichen saw Wen Yun’s gaze toward him turn dangerous and hastily interrupted the robot bird’s whistle-blowing with two fake coughs. He looked at Ruoyi in embarrassment and panic. “How do you know about things from when I was eight?! Did you time travel?!”
It was like seeing a ghost; even this had been dug up.
Ruoyi sneered. “Our family’s surveillance footage has never been deleted. I specifically went back to look for it.”
Lin Huaichen collapsed. “Why would you go back to look for that? If you’re bored, go take the postgraduate exams or get a doctorate; there’s no need to waste time like this.”
“Heh, it’s not a waste of time at all. In any case, I was going to dig three feet into the ground to find out exactly when you hooked up with my brother.” Ruoyi gritted her teeth at the thought of Lin Huaichen kidnapping Wen Xun. “As it turns out, I checked the surveillance, and good heavens—you f*cking dared to steal a kiss from my brother when you were only three!”
Lin Huaichen: “…”
Fine, he had underestimated the capabilities of this Wen Xun “poisonous fan.”
5TB of memory was indeed extraordinary.
What Ruoyi chose to give Yu An was her freedom, and he had no right to interfere. His only concern was one thing. “There aren’t any things unsuitable for children in there, right? An-an is only three; he can’t see those things.”
“There are, but I encrypted them. They won’t automatically unlock until he’s eighteen.” Ruoyi knew what he was worried about. “Rest assured, I have a sense of propriety. I won’t do anything to poison the flowers of the motherland.”
At the same time, Ruoyi grabbed Yu An’s hands and promised him, “Auntie will definitely work hard. This data is known only to heaven, earth, you, and me; it will absolutely not be leaked.”
A secret is only a secret when few people know it. This file was registered as S-rank Top Secret in Country A, which showed just how many classified secrets were inside that couldn’t be leaked.
After handing the gift to Yu An, the adults went back to their own conversations. However, their gazes still drifted toward Yu An from time to time. They also really wanted to know what was in those files. While one’s own dark history was terrifying, the dark history of one’s companions was equally irresistible.
Unfortunately, Yu An wasn’t interested in gossip. He simply let the data sit with Little White, having no intention of asking more.
The group let out sighs of regret. On a day without gossip, they missed it.
Yu An worried that sitting on Wen Xun for too long would tire him out, so after a while, he insisted on sitting to the side. He pulled Monday onto the sofa to sit tightly beside him, while Soland lay on the puppy’s fuzzy head with a pensive, deep expression.
Yu An didn’t want to disturb it and introduced Little White to Monday. Monday showed great enthusiasm for everything around Yu An.
[Hello, hello! I’m Monday! Hello, little bird.]
Little White couldn’t understand Monday, but hearing the woofing, it knew the dog was greeting it. “Hello, I am Little White.”
The relationship between Little White and Monday wasn’t like the fire-and-water relationship it had with Soland. A puppy’s simple liveliness was always likable.
Little White looked at Soland on Monday’s forehead and decided this ill-tempered fellow must be bullying the puppy. The puppy didn’t even resist, letting it ride on its head. This simple and harmless puppy would be protected by it from now on!
Yu An was very satisfied with the harmonious relationship between Little White and Monday, but he suddenly noticed Little White’s gaze change as its wings flapped twice.
Yu An had seen that familiar posture hundreds of times before Little White and Soland fought. He was quick to act, pressing down on Little White and deliberately putting on a stern face. “No fighting, okay?”
Yu An was always fair. This time, Soland hadn’t provoked Little White, so Little White couldn’t launch an attack.
Little White immediately deflated. Everything revolved around Yu An. It nodded listlessly. “Okay, Little Master.”
Yu An felt he had successfully resolved a dispute between companions and happily reached for a small cake on the table again. However, while Lin Huaichen was talking, he was also watching the boy and immediately intercepted his hand.
“No, An-an. You’ve already eaten two pieces today.”
Having been caught red-handed, Yu An looked longingly at the small cake once more before nodding reluctantly. “Okay, Papa. I won’t eat it.”
Seeing Yu An’s pitiful appearance, Mrs. Wu couldn’t help but feel soft-hearted. She opened her mouth but said nothing. After all, it was someone else’s family matter; as an outsider, she shouldn’t say much.
Suddenly, she caught sight of a familiar figure nearby and immediately beckoned. “Xiao Yao! Come here.”
Wu Yao followed behind his father with a look of utter boredom and irritability. Children of his age were the most restless, yet at the Lin family banquet, he had to follow the rules. He didn’t dare to do anything out of line, or his father’s large palm would come swinging down.
Suddenly hearing the call, Wu Yao turned to look. His own biological grandmother was beckoning him over with a face full of smiles. Wu Yao was stunned. “Grandma, why are you calling me?”
The next second, Father Wu slapped the back of his head and urged, “If she tells you to go, then go! Why all the back-talk?!”
Most people wouldn’t even get the chance, yet this brat dared to hesitate. He really was asking for a beating!
Wu Yao clutched the back of his head and glared angrily at Father Wu. “Violence maniac. No wonder Grandma didn’t call you; she definitely thinks you’re an embarrassment.”
Father Wu laughed from anger. Wu Yao ran to Grandma Wu’s side just before his father could explode, placing her hand on his back and making a face at his father.
His mischievous and lively appearance made the adults laugh in spite of themselves. Fu Yin raised his glass to Father Wu and turned to say to Wu Yao, “Since you’ve offended him like that, be careful he doesn’t go back and close the door to spank your little butt.”
Wu Yao shrugged indifferently. “If my papa dares to hit me, his papa will dare to hit him.”
Fu Yin couldn’t help but laugh and gave him a thumbs up. “Impressive.”
The Wu family was headed by Elder Wu and Grandma Wu. As the eldest grandson of his generation, Wu Yao often followed the two heads of the family. Over time, he had become quite familiar with Fu Yin and the others. He wasn’t afraid at all, eating and drinking as he pleased.
Yu An didn’t know him and didn’t dare to speak up first, so he simply remained silent and continued to play with Monday and the others.
Unbeknownst to him, Wu Yao was secretly sizing him up. He couldn’t help it; Yu An was simply too good-looking. He was as exquisite as an expensive action figure; just sitting there quietly was enough to attract the attention of any bystander.
“Uncle Lin, is this your child?” Wu Yao looked at Yu An with burning eyes and asked Lin Huaichen directly. “He’s so cute. What’s his name?”
Bathed in his probing gaze, Yu An picked up Monday with slight nervousness and hid a little further in Wen Xun’s arms.
Lin Huaichen intended to guide Yu An to make friends. “An-an, this brother wants to know your name. Why don’t you go tell him?”
Yu An’s lake-blue eyes looked at Wu Yao, but he hesitated to speak for a long time.
Wu Yao looked into his eyes, his own widening in amazement. “The color of your eyes is so beautiful! You look good, too. Oh, by the way, I’m Wu Yao. And you?”
Wu Yao’s natural familiarity allowed Yu An to slowly relax. The little fellow said in a very soft voice, “I am Yu An.”
“Then how old are you?”
“Three.”
Wu Yao laughed. “I’m seven this year. Then you should call me ‘Brother’!”
Yu An knew that he should call boys older than him “Brother.” He called out to him in a soft, milky voice, “Brother.”
That soft and tender “Brother” almost reached Wu Yao’s heart. He was a fan of good looks and had no resistance to a child as beautiful and soft-tempered as Yu An. In an instant, he wanted to sit down beside him.
Unfortunately, Yu An only wanted to stay with his papas, so Wu Yao had to give up.
Wu Yao felt very regretful about not sitting next to Yu An, but on second thought, Little Yu An had already called him “Brother.” What more could he want? He was the only brother present!
Wu Yao secretly straightened his back, feeling a faint sense of pride in his status as a brother.
But after a while, Wu Yao clearly heard Yu An call out “Brother” to Ling Xingcheng, and that soft, milky tone was exactly the same as when he called him!
Wu Yao was shocked.
He comforted himself: It’s fine. It’s normal for Big Brother Ling to be called ‘Brother’ too.
But ten minutes later, Fu Yunshu arrived.
Yu An continued to call out softly, “Brother~”
Wu Yao completely broke down. Looking at the sweetly smiling Yu An, he cried out in his heart: Just how many ‘Good Brothers’ do you have?!
