Chapter 31: A Younger Brother’s Position, Just Snatch It Away
Su Lin gently closed the kitchen door.
He leaned against the wall by the door and didn’t leave immediately. The sizzling sound of frying eggs came from the kitchen, carrying a bit of venting force. Su Lin lowered his eyelashes, his fingertips rubbing the cold wall.
Footsteps sounded from ahead, very light, but Su Lin immediately noticed them. He quickly restrained all his emotions.
Jiang Qing, not knowing when he had returned, was standing a few steps away, holding a cup of honey milk, looking at him calmly.
“Why are you standing here?” he asked.
Su Lin pursed his lips: “I… was afraid that going back in would disturb Linmu.” He paused, his voice lowering, “He seems… not very happy.”
Jiang Qing didn’t reply, just walked up to him and handed the milk to him.
“Drink it.”
Su Lin froze for a moment and took the cup. He looked up at Jiang Qing, but the other had already looked away, his gaze falling on the kitchen door.
“His temper comes fast and goes fast,”
“Just ignore him.”
Su Lin lowered his head and took a sip.
Very sweet.
“Brother,” he lifted his head, “Actually, you don’t need to specifically make me stay to help me integrate into this family.”
Hearing this, Jiang Qing finally shifted his gaze from the kitchen door back to his face. “So young, but you think too much. Stop letting your imagination run wild all day.”
“So sentimental now, where was the courage you had when you gave me that Night Dew Rose? Hmm?”
Su Lin froze slightly. He didn’t expect Jiang Qing to suddenly bring this up.
After Jiang Qing said this, he gave Su Lin a glance, chuckled lightly, turned, and left.
Su Lin stood in place, watching Jiang Qing disappear around the corner of the corridor.
He suddenly clearly realized that wanting to occupy a place in Jiang Qing’s heart was far more difficult than provoking Jiang Linmu.
What Jiang Linmu possessed was over a decade of day-and-night companionship, a habit rooted in everyday life.
And what did he, Su Lin, have?
He only had this un-choosable bloodline, and an… unwillingness to let go of his obsession.
He lowered his head, looking at the swaying milk in the cup.
It didn’t matter.
He had plenty of patience and time.
Habits can be cultivated.
Positions, can also be fought for.
——————————————————
After Su Lin finished eating, he proposed to return to his own home.
Seeing that the matter of the recognition banquet had already been settled, the others had no reason to make him stay here.
Of course, a certain Mr. Yu and a certain Mr. Mu were even more eager for the other party to leave quickly.
Only Jiang Qing sat in his place and secretly sighed.
Just found something fun to play with, didn’t expect him to leave so soon.
Seeing Jiang Qing sigh, the two actually thought Jiang Qing couldn’t bear to part with this younger brother, and the desire in their hearts to drive the other party away grew even stronger.
Su Lin smilingly bid farewell to the various brothers, and the three turned around and each rolled their eyes.
After Su Lin left, the Jiang family fell into a bizarre silence.
Jiang Qing lay bored on the long sofa, swiping on his tablet screen. One foot was unceremoniously resting on the knee of Jiang Linmu beside him, while the other foot dangled off the edge of the sofa, swinging lightly.
Jiang Linmu had long been accustomed to this. In fact, the moment his brother rested his foot on him, he adjusted his posture and skillfully began massaging the calf muscles.
As he massaged, he secretly observed Jiang Qing’s complexion. Seeing that his brother looked relaxed and didn’t show any abnormalities because of Su Lin’s departure, that little bit of smugness in his heart bubbled up again.
See, the one brother is most accustomed to is still him.
Jiang Yu sat in the single sofa opposite them. Although he held a document in his hands, his gaze repeatedly swept over to that side of the sofa. Jiang Qing’s appearance of complete reliance and taking the servitude for granted, as well as Jiang Linmu’s undisguised attentiveness, both made him feel somewhat pierced in the eyes.
He quietly turned a page of the document, the paper making a crisp sound.
“Linmu,” Jiang Yu spoke, “Go verify the guest list for next Tuesday’s banquet again, see if there are any omissions.”
Jiang Linmu was currently enjoying his brother’s rare “need”. Hearing this, his movements paused, and he looked up somewhat reluctantly:
“Eldest Brother, didn’t Dad already have Secretary Chen handle that list…”
“You go.” Jiang Yu interrupted him, “Be meticulous.”
Being looked at by his brother, Jiang Linmu felt a chill in his heart. He curled his lip, carefully moved Jiang Qing’s leg off his knee, and grumbled quietly: “Got it…”
From beginning to end, Jiang Qing didn’t even lift an eyelid, as if he hadn’t heard their conversation, only expressing his dissatisfaction by lightly kicking Jiang Linmu with his toe when his leg was moved away.
Jiang Linmu wasn’t annoyed by the kick, instead giving a “hehe” smile, before getting up to go work.
With Jiang Linmu sent away, Jiang Yu’s line of sight fell unobstructed onto Jiang Qing.
He closed the document, stood up, and walked to the side of the sofa.
Jiang Qing felt the shadow looming over him and finally lazily lifted an eyelid: “What?”
Jiang Yu didn’t speak, just leaned over and reached out to grasp Jiang Qing’s ankle that was hanging off the side of the sofa, swinging to a rhythm.
His palm was warm and dry, carrying thin calluses left by years of holding a pen or handling documents. The texture was completely different from Jiang Linmu’s.
Jiang Qing’s movement paused, the finger swiping the screen stopped, and he looked at him in surprise.
“I’ll massage it for you.”
Jiang Yu didn’t give Jiang Qing time to react. He naturally sat down in the empty space on the sofa and gently rested Jiang Qing’s leg on his own lap.
Through the thin lounge pants, Jiang Qing could even feel the firm muscle lines and warm body temperature of Jiang Yu’s thighs.
When Jiang Linmu massaged, it always carried a bit of fawning and caution, but Jiang Yu’s technique was completely different. His strength was steady and precise. His knuckles pressed against the sore muscles, slowly applying pressure. Every press felt like it was probing deep into the bones.
“Wu…” Jiang Qing let out a light grunt caught off guard. He instinctively tried to withdraw his leg, but his ankle was firmly held by Jiang Yu’s other hand.
“Don’t move.” Jiang Yu didn’t even lift his head, his gaze focused on his calf. “The muscles here are a bit tight, cross your legs less often.”
Jiang Qing narrowed his eyes, scrutinizing the Jiang Yu who was close at hand.
He suddenly relaxed, even maliciously using his toe to rub against Jiang Yu’s suit pants.
“Eldest Brother’s technique is pretty good, much better than Linmu’s.”
Jiang Yu’s massaging movements paused for a split second.
“Is that so?” His voice sank a few degrees deeper. The thumb holding Jiang Qing’s ankle seemingly brushed lightly against the prominent ankle bone. “Then from now on, I’ll do it all.”
Feeling the sensation coming from his ankle, that subtle itchiness spread along his blood vessels all the way to the tip of his heart.
Instead of retracting his foot, Jiang Qing deliberately used his heel to rub against Jiang Yu’s tense thigh muscles, feeling the body beneath instantly grow even stiffer.
“Oh? Eldest Brother is busy with ten thousand daily affairs, yet you still have the free time to specifically be my massage master?”
Jiang Yu abruptly lifted his eyes. The hand holding Jiang Qing’s ankle suddenly tightened, the force great enough to make Jiang Qing frown slightly, but the pain strangely mixed with an indescribable stimulation.
“For you, I will always have free time.”
Right at this moment, Jiang Linmu’s boisterous voice suddenly came from the other side of the living room:
“Brother! I finished looking at the list! You’ll never guess who I crossed out… out…”
Jiang Linmu excitedly ran into the living room holding his phone. Before he could finish his sentence, he was nailed to the spot by the overly intimate, even bizarrely atmospheric scene before him.
His brain instantly crashed. His mouth hung open, the rest of his words stuck in his throat, unable to spit out a single syllable.
The moment Jiang Linmu’s voice sounded, Jiang Yu had already released his hand and gently placed Jiang Qing’s leg back onto the sofa. He looked at Jiang Linmu: “What is it?”
Jiang Qing also methodically withdrew his leg, picking up his tablet again as if nothing had happened, only a trace of amusement flashing past the corner of his eye when he swept a glance at Jiang Linmu’s dumbstruck appearance.
And Jiang Linmu stood in place, looking at the two behaving completely normally, then recalling the shocking scene just a moment ago. Only one thought remained in his mind:
Seems like…
Something is a bit off, right????!!!!!
