Portrait painter Ruan Xinshu takes on a commission from a major client. The client’s request is simple: a full-body portrait. The client’s additional request is outrageous: it has to be a nude. Ruan Xinshu has never received such a strange request and begins judging the client before she even starts painting. “This person must be incredibly narcissistic.”
On the day of the consultation.
Ruan Xinshu arrives at the high-end apartment where the major client lives. A moment later. The client unhurriedly loosens the silk scarf at her throat, revealing a creamy neck as she smiles and looks up at Ruan Xinshu. Her eyes are utterly seductive.
Just the sight of her gaze sends a shiver down Ruan Xinshu’s spine. A familiar fragrance hangs in the air, stirring up memories Ruan Xinshu shouldn’t be thinking about. She practically flees towards the door. “I… I can’t paint this.” The silk scarf slips from Chu Yu’s hand and falls to the floor.
Her tone is light. “Is that so? In that case, Teacher Ruan, please return my deposit. I’ll just have someone else paint it.” It’s unclear whether it was the word “deposit” or “someone else” that enraged Ruan Xinshu. She whips around and sits back down. “…Fine, I’ll paint it.”
Chu Yu smiles as she looks at Ruan Xinshu. “Teacher Ruan, how can you paint without looking at your subject?” “Look at me.” Chu Yu’s voice is like a whisper, causing Ruan Xinshu’s pen to clatter to the floor.
