Chapter 022: The Cub Gets Abandoned
Qi Yuan, ever the spectator, watched his boss vanish from the office like a gust of wind. Judging by the sheer panic on his face, it was obvious that the person on the other end of the line was the Madam.
The little guy’s crying made Ye Chiyu’s heart leap into his throat. His mind instantly flooded with terrifying scenarios of what might have happened to him. He forced himself to stay calm so he could speak.
“Shh, be good, don’t cry. Tell me where you are first, okay? Just wait there for me obediently. I’m coming right now.”
“Woo… wooo…”
Su Tang couldn’t stop sobbing. He managed to stammer out to Mr. Ye that he was at his doorstep before his phone battery died and the screen went black. Holding the dead phone, he cried even harder.
It usually took over half an hour to drive from the company to Su Tang’s home, but Ye Chiyu made the trip in just over twenty minutes. As soon as he stepped out of the elevator, he saw the little Omega sitting amidst a pile of luggage, shivering and weeping, with two elderly ladies hovering around him.
Su Tang was hugging his knees, his entire head buried in his lap, crying as if his heart was breaking. Hearing the elevator doors open, he rubbed his eyes and looked up. His eyes were so swollen they were barely open.
Without a second thought, Ye Chiyu crouched down and pulled the tear-stained Omega into his arms. His heart ached terribly. His large hand gently patted the little guy’s back, rhythmic and soothing, to help him catch his breath, while he slowly released his calming pheromones.
While holding his little tearful burden, he carefully checked Su Tang for injuries. Only after confirming that he was physically unharmed did he let out a sigh of relief.
Finally having someone to rely on, Su Tang sniffled, his shoulders still twitching with sobs. “Ye… Mr. Ye… woo…”
“I’m here. Be good now, what happened?”
Ye Chiyu looked at the pile of luggage and the giant plush doll at the door, and a vague guess began to form in his mind.
The elderly woman who had been guarding Su Tang for a while spoke up, looking at Ye Chiyu like he was a savior.
“Young man, you must be Little Su’s boyfriend. Please, talk to him. We don’t know what happened, but he’s been crying like this for ages. We two old ladies tried to comfort him, but it was no use.”
“That’s right, that’s right. We’re old and we can’t bear to see a child suffering like this. You hurry and comfort him. Poor thing, crying so pitifully outside his own door.”
It turned out Su Tang had been crying with such reckless abandon that the grandmas from the two neighboring apartments had opened their doors to check on him, eventually staying to offer comfort.
Who would have thought this usually polite, smiling child would be so inconsolable, refusing to listen to a word or explain anything, acting as if the sky had fallen?
Ye Chiyu looked up at the two elders and nodded politely. “I understand. Thank you both for staying with him. Please, go back and rest. Su Tang has me now, don’t worry.”
Seeing Ye Chiyu’s mature and steady demeanor, the two grandmas felt reassured leaving Su Tang in his care. They said their goodbyes and returned to their homes one after another.
Once they were gone, Ye Chiyu rubbed the little guy’s hair. Afraid of startling his precious treasure, he lowered his voice to an incredibly gentle tone. “Alright, be good now. The grandmas are gone. You don’t need to hide anymore. I know you’re embarrassed.”
Su Tang shrank into Ye Chiyu’s embrace like a mushroom. It took him a long time to shyly lift his head, cautiously checking to ensure no one else was around.
“I… I wasn’t… hic…”
Hmph. He would never admit that he refused to look up because he was mortified that people had seen him crying uncontrollably.
Now that Mr. Ye was here, Su Tang didn’t feel quite as sad. He lingered in the Alpha’s arms, refusing to let go for a long time, crying a bit more until he eventually calmed down to mere hiccups, having thoroughly smeared snot and tears all over the Alpha’s suit jacket.
The Alpha didn’t care in the slightest about his ravaged jacket. Seeing that the little guy had stopped crying, he took out a handkerchief and meticulously wiped the tears from his little Omega’s face.
Seeing the disastrous state of the Alpha’s clothes, Su Tang realized somewhat belatedly how messy he was. Miraculously, he produced a box of tissues from somewhere and began blowing his nose.
“Tell me, how did you end up crying like this?” Ye Chiyu waited patiently for the little guy to clean himself up before asking.
“I came back from school today and just… hic, just saw all my stuff packed up and thrown out… hic…”
“The house… hic, the locks were changed too. My fingerprints were deleted. Woo woo woo… Mr. Ye, my sister doesn’t want me anymore…”
It turned out that after eating with his classmates at school, Su Tang came home to find all his belongings packed and piled up at the door.
Terrified and thinking something had happened at home, he tried to rush inside, only to find his keys and card wouldn’t open the door, and the scanner reported his fingerprints were invalid.
He had immediately called his sister. For the first time ever, Su Bing answered his call instantly.
“Hello, my dear little Green Tea cub. Are you calling because you saw the surprise big sister prepared for you?”
Even through the phone, Su Tang could feel his sister’s triumphant radiance.
Su Tang had been enslaved by Su Bing since childhood, so he didn’t dare get angry. He just felt wronged. “Sis, what are you doing? Why did you throw my stuff out and change the locks?”
“What do you mean ‘throw out’? Didn’t you see I packed everything nicely for you?” Su Bing said without a shred of guilt, scrolling through Weibo while eating her fitness meal. “You’re married now. Last time I told you to move out, you didn’t react at all.”
“I…”
Su Tang felt aggrieved but didn’t dare speak up.
But… I never agreed to that…!
Su Bing continued her barrage. “You what? Look around, what Omega gets married and doesn’t live with their husband, but instead mooches off their sister? Even if I don’t mind, you should consider your CEO Ye, right?”
“But…”
“No buts!”
Su Bing cut him off swiftly. “Cub, you’re an adult, and you’ve been marked. If you go into heat while living here and Ye Chiyu isn’t around, what then? Keep using inhibitors? Then what’s the use of him as a husband?”
“I’m done talking. Anyway, from now on you live with Ye Chiyu. Don’t disturb me bringing people home anymore, okay?”
Before her brother could say another word, Su Bing hung up. Su Tang, clutching his phone and looking at his luggage and the locked door, felt his mental state collapse from the grievance and sadness. He burst into tears right then and there.
Ye Chiyu sighed. Sensing the little guy was about to cry again, he quickly kissed him, as if to curry favor.
“Be good. I want you. Come back to our home with me, okay?”
