Chapter 5: The Sooner, the Better
With Su Tang tempted into exchanging contact information in the car, they soon arrived at the entrance to Su Tang’s apartment building. Ye Chiyu, in a good mood, carried him all the way to his doorstep.
Su Tang remained silent the entire way, his nerves burning with the warmth of the alpha’s pheromones.
“1603,” Ye Chiyu glanced at the door number and chuckled softly in Su Tang’s ear, “Little Su Tang, home sweet home.”
“Mm.”
Blushing, Su Tang wriggled out of Ye Chiyu’s arms. He whispered a quick goodbye and swiftly scanned his fingerprint to open the door, shutting it behind him in one fluid motion—leaving his alpha locked outside.
Leaning against the door, Su Tang finally caught his breath, closing his eyes as he let out a long sigh.
Ye Chiyu, seemingly not expecting to be shut out, was momentarily stunned. Then, he smiled, his gentle voice drifting through the door into Su Tang’s ears.
“Goodbye, my little fiancé.”
“I hope next time I’ll be honored to be invited in for a cup of tea.”
As the sound of footsteps gradually faded, Su Tang leaned against the door, taking a while to regain his composure.
He called me Little Su Tang… and his little fiancé.
His voice is so seductive, and his pheromones smell so good.
I must be losing my mind over that face!
Su Tang covered his face, letting out a muffled groan, his cheeks flushed as he limped off to take a shower.
Once he was finally clean, Su Tang slouched on the sofa in comfy cartoon pajamas, picking up the phone he had neglected for most of the day.
In such a crowded filming set, someone as insignificant as him was carried off by the big investor in full view of everyone. Given how deep the waters run in this industry, what if someone took a picture and spread rumors…
The thought sent a shiver down Su Tang’s spine.
He didn’t need to think hard to know that Ye Chiyu was definitely a powerful businessman. Such scandals wouldn’t be good for the company’s operations.
Moreover, Su Tang loved acting. If rumors spread about him being “kept” by a sponsor, it would certainly make his future career difficult.
Feeling uneasy, Su Tang opened WeChat, only to find a few messages: Ning Yang, his childhood friend, inviting him to play games tonight; his sister threatening to come home and settle accounts with him tonight; and, of course, a friend request from Ye Chiyu.
Wait, why is it so quiet?
Curious, Su Tang opened Weibo and scrolled through the trending topics for a while but found no news about himself. Only then did he feel relieved.
It was already noon, and with his sensitive stomach growling, Su Tang quickly stuffed a small cheese cracker into his mouth to curb his hunger.
Too scared to reply to his older sister—knowing full well that she’d scold him when she got home—Su Tang sent Ning Yang a quick “gu gu gu,” and only then did he seriously open Ye Chiyu’s friend request.
Ye Chiyu’s avatar was as serious as he was—completely black.
Su Tang, with his pink fingertips, drew a few circles around the alpha’s black icon before finally hitting “accept.”
As soon as they became friends, Su Tang saw that the other party was already typing. Nervously, he watched the screen, and soon a message popped up.
[Don’t worry about today. I’ll take care of everything.]
Su Tang suddenly realized—so it was Ye Chiyu who handled everything. No wonder things had gone so smoothly.
[Rest well and take care of your injury. The pheromone bond after a temporary mark can be unstable. If you feel unwell, let me know right away.]
Su Tang replied with a “OK” cat emoji.
The scene from last night, where he had clung to Ye Chiyu during his heat, began to replay in his mind. The intense pleasure that came from the combination of omega and alpha pheromones was so overwhelming that just recalling it made Su Tang feel a bit addicted.
Touching the still slightly swollen gland at the back of his neck, Su Tang felt a bit ashamed as his body reacted again.
Meanwhile, Ye Chiyu, sitting in his car and discussing the matter of suppressing the news with Qi Yuan, stared at the cat emoji Su Tang had sent for quite a while, saying nothing.
“President?”
Qi Yuan glanced at the rearview mirror, waiting for Ye Chiyu to continue.
“Hmm. Inform the PR department that today’s incident must not appear on any public platform. If it does, they can all pack their bags.”
Ye Chiyu spoke coldly, his head lowered, face expressionless.
His long, slender fingers lingered on Su Tang’s emoji—he pressed and held, then added it to his collection.
“Don’t worry, President, I’ll take care of it.”
Qi Yuan, understanding all too well, refocused on the road, driving with extra care.
Just thinking about how the little guy would soon be his made Ye Chiyu’s long-dormant heart pound strongly in his chest.
He truly couldn’t wait any longer.
If it weren’t for the fear of scaring Su Tang away, he would’ve dragged him to the Civil Affairs Bureau to get their marriage certificate right then and there.
What kind of expression would the little guy make if he knew that Ye Chiyu had been thinking about him for over ten years?
[After informing my family, I plan to formally visit yours. Su Tang, regarding our marriage, I hope it will happen as soon as possible.]
Seeing this message, Su Tang was so shocked that he covered his mouth. They had just met, and it hadn’t even been two days—yet they were already talking about a flash marriage. This Mr. Ye was really hard to figure out.
But since he had already agreed, and knowing how fiery his sister’s temper was, Su Tang could only send a warning to Ye Chiyu.
[Mr. Ye, there’s something you should know first. My sister has quite a temper, and she’s not easy to deal with.]
After Ye Chiyu replied with a simple, “I understand,” he urged Su Tang to eat something. Then he instructed Qi Yuan to head back to the Ye family’s old residence.
Of course, he already knew about Su Tang’s fiery-tempered sister. But more importantly, he also knew that despite her sharp tongue, she was incredibly soft-hearted and doted on her adopted younger brother.
