Not a Dodder Flower Omega, But a Top-Tier Mecha Master Chapter 12

Chapter 12: The Chosen One of Misfortune

By the time Bai Mu had finished explaining the repair plan to the mecha masters without reservation, it was already afternoon.

During that time, he had only a bottle of nutrient solution for lunch before immediately throwing himself back into mecha maintenance and answering everyone’s questions.

After a day of maintenance, everyone had personally proven that Bai Mu’s repair plan was both correct and efficient. Their attitude toward him had clearly become much more respectful.

At least on the surface, no one dared to look down on him anymore. Even the two provocative mecha masters awkwardly came to consult Bai Mu about parts of the plan they didn’t understand. Bai Mu showed no impatience toward them, answering their questions seriously, to the point where they were so ashamed they kept rubbing their hands.

“Triangular Eyes” initially didn’t want to ask Bai Mu. He had asked others, but no one could answer him. He could only bite the bullet and approach Bai Mu. He had prepared himself for Bai Mu’s mockery and cold eyes, but Bai Mu treated him no differently from the others, explaining very carefully in a relaxed tone. After hearing the explanation, the man felt even more ashamed. He said with a bit of embarrassment, “Um… well… my name is Qi Ji. Thank you very much, Mr. Luo Yi.”

The name was easy to remember. Bai Mu gave a gentle smile.

Qi Ji added, “Mr. Luo Yi, you’ve worked for so long. Do you need a rest? Or you could wander around the base to relax?”

Bai Mu indeed needed some free time, but not for rest. It had been two days since he first came to the base, and he hadn’t had a chance to understand its layout. He hadn’t dared to bring Xiao Piao along these past two days. He first needed to confirm the location of the light mecha energy pool, then find a chance to bring Xiao Piao to the base and put it in the pool to recharge.

“Just call me Luo Yi,” Bai Mu appropriately showed curiosity toward the base. “I can wander around the base freely?”

“Of course. The various aprons are areas mecha masters can enter freely. But don’t go toward the armory or the energy pool; it’s a hassle to get over there.”

Bai Mu nodded to show he understood. Qi Ji gave him a schematic diagram of the base and asked if he needed a guide. Bai Mu politely declined Qi Ji’s kindness and left Apron No. 1.

Bai Mu pretended to wander around casually, but he was actually heading toward the energy pool. He was wearing the base’s work uniform, so there were no obstacles along the way. However, he didn’t get reckless. After confirming the energy pool’s location from a distance, he returned along the same path.

When Bai Mu returned to Apron No. 1, he stood by the window for a while. For some reason, even though the plan was going smoothly and he had successfully entered the base, he felt a sense of emptiness in his heart at this moment.

In his chaotic life lately, he seemed to always be entangled with one person. This made him feel like a fly that had accidentally flown into a spiderweb, wrapped in silk. This feeling made him very uncomfortable, but fortunately, he would be leaving soon.

Bai Mu looked out the window and thought carefully. He decided that once the coordinate system problem was solved, he would leave. He also knew from the crowd that in two weeks, it would be Laea City’s most important festival, Independence Day. Before Independence Day, the Consul should be very busy—the perfect time to leave.

Having made up his mind, he left the window, intending to go to the restroom before returning to the maintenance site.

Bai Mu reached the restroom, reached out, and pushed the door in one fluid motion. Then, he came eye-to-eye.

Bai Mu felt he was truly the chosen one of misfortune.

There was only one person in the restroom. The man was humming a song casually, his legs slightly bent. His belt buckle was undone and hanging loose, and his suit trousers were draped loosely at his waist. At the moment Bai Mu opened the door, the man was pulling down his trouser zipper. When their gazes met, the zipper was already fully down. His movement stopped abruptly, his hand still in the posture to perform the next action.

The man’s expression was incredibly “colorful,” but he didn’t show a hint of embarrassment. He even raised an eyebrow at Bai Mu, with a look of realization as if he had uncovered a secret. His expression seemed to say, “I knew you were that kind of person.”

To be able to remain so calm and shameless after having an Omega push open the wrong restroom door and nearly expose himself… who else could it be but the Great Consul?

The air froze for a second. The next second, Bai Mu moved his gaze away, his eyes becoming hollow and blank. He stared straight ahead and very smoothly backed out, closing the door and ducking into the Omega restroom next door in a flash.

Bai Mu was in a daze, his facial muscles stiff. He tapped his head with his hand, trying to use the action to drive the high-impact image from his mind. He didn’t know what he was thinking, actually walking into the wrong restroom, and so coincidentally seeing Han Naijin.

Bai Mu waited in the restroom for several minutes, thinking Han Naijin must have left. Only then did he come out to wash his eyes—no, his hands—at the sink.

Creak. The door to the Alpha restroom next door opened. A lean Alpha with an arrogant smile walked out. Seeing him, the Alpha’s smile became even more malicious. “Oh, what a coincidence.”

Bai Mu: “…”

Coincidence or not, you know it in your heart!

Han Naijin’s shirt sleeves were rolled up to his wrists, revealing his tight forearm muscles. He walked to Bai Mu’s side and casually hummed a song while washing his hands in the rushing water.

The corner of Bai Mu’s mouth twitched. He completed the fastest hand-washing of his life in three seconds. He then gave a nod and said, “Take your time washing, Officer.”

With that, Bai Mu quickened his steps toward the elevator. His intent was clear: he didn’t want to share an elevator with Han Naijin.

Han Naijin saw Bai Mu’s hurried retreat in the mirror. His mischievous side rose again, and he quickly finished washing and quickened his pace.

As he was walking fast, his light computer flickered. Han Naijin pulled it out to check. There was a message:

[He went to the energy pool.]

Han Naijin let out a cold laugh and put the computer back in his pocket.

Bai Mu quickly pressed the elevator button. Just as the doors were a sliver away from closing, the gap began to widen again. A tall silhouette with an arrogant, annoying smile appeared outside. “You haven’t gone down yet? Perfect. Let’s go together.”

Bai Mu ignored his childish behavior, staring at the floor numbers above the elevator like a meditating monk.

Han Naijin smiled as he stepped in. Bai Mu immediately moved to the furthest corner, but he still felt the elevator was crowded and his breathing was tight.

As the elevator began to descend, Han Naijin turned to look at Bai Mu, his face full of inquiry. “Hey, I have a friend who was once peeked at by an Omega in the restroom. What do you think that Omega wanted to do?”

Bai Mu: “…”

There’s really no need to create a ‘friend’ out of thin air.

Bai Mu looked back at Han Naijin numbly. “Is there a possibility that the Omega just accidentally pushed the wrong door?”

Han Naijin nodded first, as if agreeing with Bai Mu’s words. Then, he began to ponder. After some thought, he shook his head. “Doesn’t look like it.”

Bai Mu: “…”

Han Naijin was composed and even a bit serious. Anyone who didn’t know better would think they were discussing something important.

Bai Mu asked back gently, “Then what does the Consul think that Omega meant toward your ‘friend’?”

Han Naijin still had that unreadable smile. He moved several inches closer to Bai Mu, his gaze roaming over Bai Mu’s face. “He might have been coveting my friend for a long time.”

A bolt of thunder exploded over Bai Mu’s head. In the Consul’s mind, his image was currently—

A person whose long-term unrequited love turned into a twisted, morally bankrupt pervert who follows people to the restroom to steal a glimpse of their ‘spring scenery’!

Bai Mu’s lashes couldn’t stop trembling, and a vein throbbed on his forehead. He first let out a cynical laugh, then looked at Han Naijin with a look of pity and regret. “Officer, have you ever suffered a head injury?”

Han Naijin couldn’t hold it in and burst out laughing.

Ding. The elevator doors opened. Bai Mu brushed past Han Naijin and walked out. He quickened his steps again, putting distance between himself and Han Naijin as he returned to the maintenance site.

As soon as he returned, he was surrounded again by people asking questions. Bai Mu answered seriously, but from the corner of his eye, he saw those long legs walking toward them with an unhurried pace. Bai Mu pretended not to see, focusing on the questions.

When others saw the Consul, they all stepped forward to greet him.

Han Naijin also smiled and nodded to everyone.

Seeing the Consul arrive, the people around Bai Mu wisely scattered. Only Qi Ji remained, looking at his small notebook, hesitating whether to leave or ask.

Bai Mu proactively asked Qi Ji if there was anything he didn’t understand.

Qi Ji stepped forward and began to ask the questions in his notebook one by one. Thus, the Great Consul was left standing to the side with his long legs apart, unaddressed—he looked quite lonely.

Qi Ji’s attitude toward Bai Mu had done a 180-degree turn. From his earlier disdain and mockery, he now looked at Bai Mu with eyes full of admiration and awe. While he listened to the explanation, his triangular eyes kept darting toward Bai Mu.

Someone beside them let out a light cough. Qi Ji looked over—it was the Consul. Qi Ji squinted his eyes and said flatteringly, “Consul, are you unwell? There is water over there.”

Han Naijin: “…”

Qi Ji, completely unaffected, continued to look at Bai Mu with admiration, listening to the gentle explanation.

Before Bai Mu could finish with Qi Ji, someone else came looking for him, saying that a certain joint of a mecha’s ankle couldn’t extend. Everyone hadn’t found the problem and asked if Bai Mu could take a look.

Bai Mu had to set aside Qi Ji’s questions and follow everyone to the mecha.

There was a large maintenance platform at the mecha’s ankle. Bai Mu followed them up, knowing someone was following as well.

When the crowd saw Bai Mu arrive, they all made way, letting him to the very front.

Bai Mu crouched down and used tools to check. But the location was quite awkward; he couldn’t reach it while crouching. He knelt on the floor and poked his head into the giant metal shell to inspect.

Because of the kneeling posture, Bai Mu’s trousers were tight against his body, highlighting how thin his waist was. Han Naijin knew how thin Bai Mu’s waist was—on the night of the frisking, his two hands could have completely wrapped around it.

Han Naijin’s peripheral vision caught everyone stealing glances at Bai Mu’s waist and hips. He suddenly felt a twinge in his heart, as if someone had pinched it. He turned to the crowd and said sternly, “It’s enough to have Luo Yi here to inspect. Everyone go back to your tasks. We’ll discuss once the inspection is done.”

Hearing the Consul’s order, everyone stopped lingering on the platform.

Once everyone else had gone down, Han Naijin’s heart finally felt a bit more settled. He couldn’t help but think back to the first time he saw Bai Mu at the casino. The Omega was wearing only a bathrobe, revealing two fair, straight legs. He had never seen an Omega with such beautiful legs. Last night, when those two legs straddled him… it would be a lie to say his heart didn’t stir.

Cough, cough. What am I thinking?

“I found where the problem is,” Bai Mu’s voice came from inside the metal shell, echoing slightly. “The bottom layer of the driving turbine has a gear misalignment, and the sensor’s driving hydraulic pressure is too high…”

Bai Mu waited for a while, but no one responded. He withdrew his head from the mecha. Behind him was only a slightly frowning Han Naijin.

Where did everyone go?

Having knelt for a long time, Bai Mu found it hard to straighten his back for a moment. He looked up at Han Naijin. That face, which usually held a smile, seemed to be under a bit of low pressure. Bai Mu didn’t know which nerve in this man was acting up again.

Bai Mu struggled to stand up, but a wave of numbness hit his legs. He almost knelt again. Han Naijin was quick, catching Bai Mu before his knees hit the floor. With a thud, Bai Mu crashed into Han Naijin’s arms again. Both of them swayed before finding their footing.

Bai Mu’s entire face was buried in the crook of Han Naijin’s neck. The Alpha’s crisp pheromones filled his nose. Bai Mu’s body stalled for an instant, but he quickly backed out of Han Naijin’s arms with composure, returning to a proper distance. He felt he should say something, but he met Han Naijin’s suspicious gaze.

“Don’t use the same trick twice.” Han Naijin’s narrow eyes squinted slightly.

Bai Mu: “…”

Bai Mu was speechless, but his mind was still on the two problems he had just found. He took a deep breath, trying to convince himself not to lower himself to the man’s level for now.

Seeing that he didn’t answer, Han Naijin made a “just as I thought” expression. His tone softened slightly: “Alright. No more repairs today. Let’s go buy clothes!”

Bai Mu: “?”
