Chapter 6: The Innocent Omega part 1
The expression on Han Naijin’s face twitched. For a moment, he was actually speechless. Great, he had been dragged in as a scapegoat without even realizing it.
Seeing Han Naijin’s frozen expression, Bai Mu added in a weak voice, “I didn’t touch the alarm system. You can have someone check it, Officer.”
Han Naijin released his chin. Losing his only support, Bai Mu felt a wave of dizziness. His body slid down the wall like a drop of water.
Looking at the slumped Bai Mu, Situ made a “please” gesture to Han Naijin. Han Naijin massaged his temples, crouched down, and looked ready to scoop Bai Mu up to handle it in one go. Bai Mu panicked slightly and said first, “Just… just help me up… it’s fine.”
Han Naijin offered an arm. Bai Mu leaned on it, but he had clearly overestimated himself. He swayed for a long time before he could barely stand. Then, with difficulty, he followed Han Naijin’s lead. Looking at the direction, it seemed they were heading to the Consul’s own room.
Bai Mu kept his head down, a fleeting smile touching the corners of his lips.
Situ didn’t follow them; instead, he entered Bai Mu’s room.
After walking through a corridor, they reached Han Naijin’s suite. Han Naijin helped him sit on the sofa and turned to walk away. Bai Mu was drenched in sweat, his pajamas sticking to his skin. The smell of sweat mixed with the scent of thick smoke made him extremely uncomfortable, and his throat burned with a stinging pain from the fumes.
“Want some water?”
A glass of water was held before him. Bai Mu looked up slightly, seeing Han Naijin’s handsome yet indifferent face.
Bai Mu took the water and began to take small sips, his thin lips gently pressing against the rim of the glass.
Han Naijin watched him drink until the glass was empty.
“More?” Han Naijin asked.
Bai Mu shook his head and said slowly, “Can I take a shower?”
Han Naijin pointed toward the bathroom, but Bai Mu didn’t move, looking a bit embarrassed. “I don’t have a change of clothes.”
Han Naijin turned and rummaged through a wardrobe, pulling out a set of pajamas and handing them to Bai Mu. Bai Mu propped himself up from the sofa. As soon as he stood, he felt another wave of dizziness and swayed, but he insisted on walking toward the bathroom.
The bathroom door closed, and Bai Mu’s haggard, weak expression immediately improved significantly.
After Han Naijin left the room earlier, Bai Mu had no desire to sleep. He studied the room—this place even shielded electromagnetic signals, cutting him off from the outside world. He couldn’t gather any information, and he didn’t even know where the mecha base was located. He couldn’t proceed with his plan.
He needed to change rooms.
He fixed his gaze on the blinking alarm by the window. He stepped forward. For a mecha master, dismantling and reassembling an alarm was child’s play. He used Xiao Piao’s wing to open the alarm’s casing, connected the fuse of the micro-bomb to the trigger, and then put the alarm back together.
A few seconds later, the trigger detonated the micro-bomb. He hadn’t expected the bomb to be a high-concentration smoke bomb. If Han Naijin had arrived even a few seconds later, he wasn’t sure he would have survived. But in the end, everything went smoothly.
Now that he had successfully escaped that room, he wondered where the Consul would place him next. However, he could roughly guess the Consul’s plan. Since the Consul hadn’t kicked him out, he wanted to keep him close for easier monitoring.
Bai Mu took a hot shower, finally clearing the smell of smoke and sweat. His spirit recovered a lot, but the moment he opened the bathroom door, he immediately reverted to a weak, helpless state, his eyes looking innocent and lost.
As soon as he looked up, he saw Han Naijin sitting on the sofa, arms crossed, his long legs stretched out and crossed at the ankles as he toyed with his light computer.
Bai Mu said nothing, leaning against the wall as he slowly shuffled toward the sofa, looking ready to collapse with every step until he sat back down.
Bai Mu finally had the energy to observe the Consul’s suite. The living area was simply furnished; there were few decorations, but they all felt high-quality. The solid wood and leather furniture, along with the black leather sofa they were sitting on, gave a sense of low-key luxury.
A moderate distance remained between the two of them. Neither spoke, leaving only silence—a sort of invisible standoff. The air seemed to cool down around them.
Han Naijin continued to toy with his light computer, his thoughts unknown. He only showed Bai Mu a sharp, handsome profile. Bai Mu’s eyes landed on Han Naijin’s well-defined jawline. The Consul’s skin was a healthy tan—the kind of healthy color Bai Mu had always liked.
The only sound in the quiet living room was the rhythm of their breathing. After a long while, Bai Mu decided to break the deadlock: “Officer, I don’t have a place to stay anymore.”
Han Naijin finally set down his light computer and turned to look at Bai Mu. He let out a cold laugh. “Isn’t this exactly what you wanted?”
Han Naijin’s tone was lazy and casual as usual, sounding like a joke, but a coldness could be sensed beneath it.
Bai Mu seemed to notice nothing, continuing to look bewildered. “What?”
Han Naijin stood up and walked toward Bai Mu. He grabbed Bai Mu’s wrist again and leaned in. Then, with a click, an electronic bracelet—or rather, a monitor—appeared on Bai Mu’s wrist. Han Naijin said coldly, “Wear this, and you’ll get what you want.”
Bai Mu’s expression remained calm as he looked down at the black bracelet on his arm.
Han Naijin didn’t hide his suspicion at all, and from the moment Bai Mu met Han Naijin, his mind had been full of plans to use him. The warm yellow light filled the space, reflecting two faces with hidden undercurrents. After a long silence, a smile curved Bai Mu’s lips. “Thank you, Officer.”
Han Naijin seemed finally satisfied, but his hand didn’t release Bai Mu. He pulled Bai Mu up from the sofa and led him toward the bedroom.
Bai Mu was surprised. Did this mean he was giving up the bedroom to him?
He wanted to keep him under watch, but surely this was unnecessary!
In a few steps, Bai Mu was pulled into the bedroom and pressed onto the bed. Han Naijin looked down at him and said, “It’s late. I’ll have someone clean a room tomorrow. You’ll stay here for tonight.”
“And you?”
Occupying someone else’s room so late made Bai Mu feel a slight pang of guilt.
Han Naijin pointed to the sofa outside. Without waiting for Bai Mu to speak, he walked out of the bedroom and pushed the bathroom door open.
Though the bathroom had been ventilated, a faint scent of Omega pheromones still lingered. That light, crisp sweetness made Han Naijin frown—not out of disgust, but because it stirred a strange emotion in him.
Han Naijin turned on the shower, and cold water sprayed down from over his head. He shivered, and his mind instantly cleared.
After a quick rinse, Han Naijin put on a bathrobe and walked out of the bathroom, just in time to meet Situ at the door. Both of them were stunned on the spot.
Situ looked suspicious at first, then seemed to understand something as his expression became “colorful.” He was seeing a specific image—
Deep in the night, an Alpha had just showered and was in a bathrobe. Earlier, he had “fled” an Omega’s room with his clothes in disarray. This… suggested they had just finished an intense “battle.”
Han Naijin didn’t have the time to deal with Situ’s imagination. In the gap, he changed into a clean set of casual clothes.
Situ suppressed a laugh and dragged a young man into the room.
The young man was named Zhang Qing, a Beta. He had refined features, was of medium height, and his family owned a hospital. He held a doctorate in medicine, but when people spoke of Zhang Qing, they mostly gossiped about the rich young master’s scandals with various starlets, causing everyone to overlook his superb medical skills.
Aside from chasing stars, Zhang Qing had ideals: he wanted to be a soldier and hoped to pilot a mecha one day. However, due to his naturally lazy nature and inability to stand the strict military discipline, he took a different path and became an honorable military doctor—only treating Han Naijin and those Han Naijin ordered him to treat.
Once Zhang Qing entered the bedroom and saw the weak Omega on the bed, his expression turned serious. He took out his examination equipment and gave Bai Mu a thorough checkup, also taking a blood sample. After a series of operations, Zhang Qing packed his equipment and walked out of the bedroom.
