Not a Dodder Flower Omega, But a Top-Tier Mecha Master Chapter 6.2

Part 2

Zhang Qing looked at the waiting Han Naijin with a complex gaze. “Isn’t this a bit much? You’ve worked him into this state?”

Han Naijin ignored him, his eyes fixed on the bag Zhang Qing had brought. While rummaging through the bag, he said, “Don’t overthink it. He’s a suspect.”

“You won’t even spare a suspect? You beast!” Zhang Qing said.

Han Naijin: “…”

Han Naijin opened the tightly sealed bag Zhang Qing had brought. Inside were potatoes, tomatoes, and spinach—several fresh vegetables, some even with soil still on them.

“Don’t touch my vegetables.” Zhang Qing tried to grab the bag, but Han Naijin beat him to it, taking out several items and handing them to Situ. Situ immediately ran out to put the vegetables in the refrigerator.

Mankind had lived in the Hongdu Galaxy for centuries and was long used to relying on nutrient solutions for energy. Fresh produce had become an extremely precious ingredient. Only someone as wealthy and idle as Zhang Qing would focus on quality of life, even going as far as to set up his own vegetable patch, personally tending to it and installing anti-theft devices. But no matter how he protected it, his vegetables couldn’t escape the fate of being frequently “stolen.”

Half of a large bag of vegetables had been openly robbed by a thief. Zhang Qing was furious, but since there was a beautiful Omega waiting for treatment, he immediately transformed into an “angel of love” to analyze the Omega’s blood sample.

Han Naijin and Situ lounged lazily on the sofa, each scrolling through their light computers. Han Naijin would occasionally check on the Omega in the bedroom; the Omega was very quiet and made no sound.

After a while, Zhang Qing returned with several report sheets, reading as he walked: “Nothing serious. Some smoke inhalation burns in the throat, and overall weakness. He needs nutritional supplements and a good rest; he’ll be fine.”

Situ entered the bedroom and repeated these words to Bai Mu. Situ gave him some medicine and told him to take it on time. Bai Mu thanked Zhang Qing.

Then, Zhang Qing took out his light computer, saying he needed to create a patient file and add Bai Mu’s contact information. He even showed Bai Mu his vegetable patch and said that once Bai Mu recovered, he could visit his private clinic, where he would personally pick vegetables and make soup for him. Bai Mu only then realized he was being hit on. He was about to politely decline when Han Naijin grabbed Zhang Qing’s collar and hauled him out of the bedroom.

Because Han Naijin had been acting “unhuman” all night, Zhang Qing first lost the chance to spend a wonderful evening with a new model, then lost half of his personally grown vegetables, and finally lost the chance to get a cute Omega’s contact info. Zhang Qing glared at Han Naijin, muttering incessantly.

Han Naijin dragged Zhang Qing to the door and pretended to helpfully smooth his collar. Zhang Qing wasn’t appreciative: “This is where you’re wrong. Such a cute Omega should be open for fair competition!”

It was already past two in the morning. Han Naijin had no desire to talk further with Zhang Qing and simply pushed him out the door.

The bedroom still carried Han Naijin’s scent. Bai Mu seemed soothed by the smell and felt less tired. Hearing footsteps again, he knew Han Naijin was back. Han Naijin stood at the bedroom door and glanced inside. He said nothing, only quietly closing the door.

The moment the door closed, Bai Mu looked at the black bracelet on his wrist thoughtfully. He had now reached a compromise with the Consul. The Consul wouldn’t kick him out, even if he had to live under constant surveillance. But it didn’t matter; it was just a small bracelet. He could remove it anytime; it wouldn’t hinder him. The next step was to find an opportunity to enter the mecha base.

Bai Mu looked around the room. After a quick scan, Xiao Piao flew from behind the curtain and circled him once. Bai Mu held out a hand, and the ladybug landed on it.

Bai Mu pinched Xiao Piao’s wing, held it up to his eyes, and said seriously, “Xiao Piao, I need you to do two things. First, tell me everything about the Consul. Then, search for all information regarding the Laea City military mecha base.”

“Understood, Master.”

Xiao Piao might be an idiot sometimes, but it was highly efficient. As soon as the words left its mouth, a virtual screen was projected before Bai Mu, clearly listing several pieces of personal information about the Consul.

Bai Mu first noticed the date on the screen. It had been a full month since the day of his trial. He had no memory of what happened during that time. He wanted to ask Xiao Piao, but then he remembered the three fingers the mercenary had shown him at the casino. The mercenary knew of Xiao Piao’s existence, so altering its memory would be child’s play. What Xiao Piao told him might not be the truth.

As Bai Mu thought, he scrolled through the information Xiao Piao found. He read the important parts one by one and gained a general understanding of this young Consul.

In Laea City, this young Consul enjoyed immense popularity and had a large following of supporters and fans on the Star Network. Furthermore, in the month since he took office, his approval rating had already exceeded that of previous Consuls, including his father.

However, those who supported the Consul were mostly commoners. The noble class mostly held a reserved attitude, especially the four great families of Laea City. Aside from the Han family, the other families opposed the Consul and every policy or law he had introduced since taking office.

Those three great families even questioned the legality of his succession, and there were rumors that he had murdered his father to become the Consul.

Seeing this, Bai Mu couldn’t help but think: being the Consul in such a den of iniquity must be very difficult for this young man. He instinctively looked toward the door, even though he couldn’t see the person outside.

Bai Mu suddenly realized that Han Naijin had gone to sleep on the sofa and didn’t even seem to have taken a blanket. Whatever his goal was, Han Naijin had given up the bedroom to him.

Bai Mu got out of bed, opened the door, and walked quietly toward the sofa.

It was late spring or early summer. Though the cold had faded, the night chill was still noticeable.

Although the planets of the Hongdu Galaxy had very different climates from Earth, many had been terraformed to approximate Earth’s climate. For planets that couldn’t be terraformed, artificial domes were used to simulate Earth’s four seasons and day-night cycles.

So, in Laea City, there were distinct seasons and day-night patterns.

The room was dimly lit and silent, except for Han Naijin’s light breathing.

Han Naijin was lying sideways on the sofa, arms crossed over his chest. He was still in his casual clothes and, as expected, had nothing covering him.

Bai Mu looked around and saw a thin blanket at one end of the sofa. He walked to the front of the sofa and looked at the sleeping Han Naijin. The man’s hair fell over his forehead, his eyes were closed, and his breathing was steady. A sleeping person had lowered their guard, no longer staring at him with those sharp eyes. Before him was just a handsome young man.

Thinking of the information he had just found, a complex emotion rose in Bai Mu’s heart.

At that moment, the sleeping man on the sofa suddenly rolled over. He stopped crossing his arms, instead resting them casually on his waist. Bai Mu quickly took a step back, but fortunately, the man was only rolling over and hadn’t been woken up. Bai Mu saw that beneath Han Naijin’s left hand, the gun holster at his waist was open. He could take that gun with just a reach of his hand.

Bai Mu looked at the gun and smiled with a strange expression.

Bai Mu didn’t linger or let his thoughts wander further. He took the blanket and gently covered Han Naijin before returning to the bedroom.

After a very soft sound, the bedroom door closed again, and Han Naijin opened his eyes.

He looked down at the gun he had deliberately exposed, his gaze becoming unreadable.

Years as a mercenary had given him a keen sense for danger. Even in his sleep, if someone approached him, he would sense it instantly and go into a defensive state.

The moment he heard the door open, he was already awake.

In such a hurry?

Too impatient.

A hint of disdain rose in Han Naijin’s heart.

However, to his surprise, the Omega didn’t strike or steal anything. Instead, he just stood there foolishly watching him for a long time.

And then he covered him with a blanket.

Deep in the night, acting all sneaky just to cover him with a blanket?

Han Naijin was a bit confused.

He had suffered plenty as a mercenary—ambushing in the snow, going days without sleep. He wasn’t that fragile.

But… honestly, with the blanket on, it really was warm.

Han Naijin let out a light laugh. Might as well keep it on.
