CHAPTER 4
Chapter 4: Don’t Touch Me
“Come on, you’re still so proud after getting beaten up.”
Chen Cheng felt that it wasn’t good for the two of them to stay, so she pulled Chen Jiamu out of the ward.
Back in his own ward, Chen Jiamu sat on the sofa, curiously asking, “Why does he need an IV drip?”
“Could it be that he has some kind of illness?”
Chen Cheng pondered for a moment and said, “I don’t know the specifics, but the nurse said he refuses to eat, so he’s getting nutrients through an IV to keep him alive.”
“His situation is pretty bad.”
Chen Jiamu frowned, suddenly remembering Chen Cheng saying he didn’t have autism, and quickly asked, “If he doesn’t have autism, what does he have?”
Chen Cheng sat on the sofa and remained silent for a long time, “I haven’t found out, it’s definitely not autism.”
“Just don’t provoke him.”
“So mysterious? Could it be a mental illness?”
Chen Cheng grabbed a pillow and threw it at him, “Stop guessing. Your wound is almost healed; go back to school the day after tomorrow.”
“Even if you don’t want to study, you have to at least show up; just don’t cause trouble.”
“I’ve got enough headaches with work; just give me a break.”
Chen Cheng rambled on, and Chen Jiamu shrugged helplessly, picked up the pillow and hugged it, sat down obediently, and lowered his head to respond, “I know.”
In the afternoon, Chen Cheng left. Chen Jiamu was alone in the large ward. His mother, Su Yi, wanted to see him, but he refused.
With nothing to do, Chen Jiamu walked out of the ward and paced the corridor. He wondered what Li Qi was doing now.
Why was he starving himself?
Wasn’t it good to be alive?
The Li family was so rich, he could live however he wanted. He could go wherever he wanted, do whatever he wanted, it would be great.
However, the thick door blocked his view, and he was too embarrassed to knock.
After standing there for a few minutes, he returned to his ward, his fingertips tracing the two scars on his abdomen. Chen Jiamu couldn’t help but shiver.
So close!
He almost died at Li Qi’s hands!
Fortunately, the utility knife was short and spared his life. Otherwise, he would have really died.
This shows that Li Qi is indeed a ruthless person.
But he’s also a pitiful person. Although Chen Cheng said he didn’t have autism, he felt he wasn’t far off.
It seems that he should take better care of Li Qi in the future and help him give up his suicidal thoughts.
Life is so precious; youth has just begun!
After making up his mind, Chen Jiamu was discharged from the hospital the next day.
Chen Cheng didn’t come today because she had something to do at work. Only Su Yi and Chen Wensong came to pick him up.
Chen Jiamu sat in the middle, head down, listening to Su Yi’s nagging, and only spoke after she finished, “Mom, I understand.”
“You understand? You understand and still almost caused such a big mess for me.”
“Fortunately, nothing happened, or what would your father and I have done!”
Even Chen Yi’s good temper was worn thin. She had been afraid of his wounds reopening, so she waited until his discharge to scold him.
“I’m fine now, besides, didn’t Big Sister help too!”
“Shut up!” Chen Wensong, sitting to one side, couldn’t help but speak, his tone slightly angry.
Seeing his stern face and ruthless eyes, Chen Jiamu immediately shut his mouth, lowering his head and not daring to say a word.
“Alright, don’t scold Jiamu. Didn’t he also suffer a loss!”
Seeing her beloved son being scolded, Su Yi felt sorry for him and gently patted his shoulder.
Chen Wensong was speechless, “If he had been more obedient, he wouldn’t have been hospitalized for a month.”
“This time back to school, if you cause any more trouble, I’ll discipline you myself.”
“Of course, you can’t let others bully you either, or it will embarrass our Chen family.”
“Oh…” Chen Jiamu mumbled and turned to look out the window.
His good days were over long ago…
Time flew by, and three days passed in a blink of an eye. Since returning to school, Chen Jiamu had been much more well-behaved.
He didn’t skip class and instead quietly lay down in the last row of the classroom and slept soundly.
The other teachers, seeing this, simply ignored him.
At noon, Chen Jiamu sat under the large banyan tree, enjoying the coolness of the shade.
It had been raining intermittently for the past few days, and the air was filled with the smell of earth.
Finally, the sun came out today, but the air was still cool. Chen Jiamu had been cooped up in the classroom and didn’t want to stay any longer.
While listening to music, a black figure suddenly caught his eye. Chen Jiamu’s pupils constricted, and he quickly took off his earphones.
“Hey, Li Qi, are you okay?”
Li Qi looked up and stared quietly at the person who had called out to him, his eyes flickering. Chen Jiamu’s name instantly appeared in his mind.
It was him.
Chen Jiamu…
Li Qi looked away and ignored Chen Jiamu’s greeting, continuing to walk slowly towards the dormitory.
The Li family had placed him in City University hoping he could make new friends at school. A more open environment might help his condition…
However, Li Qi didn’t think this method was feasible…
“Hey, I’m talking to you, why aren’t you answering me?”
“Wow, you’ve lost so much weight!”
Seeing Li Qi ignoring him, Chen Jiamu simply blocked his path and grabbed his wrist.
At that moment, Li Qi’s thin wrist shocked him. How light must he be?
Didn’t he eat properly?
Eyes wide, Chen Jiamu carefully observed Li Qi’s figure. Li Qi was about the same height as him, but he was terrifyingly thin.
His wrists were a whole circle smaller than his. Black clothes were already slimming, and on him, they made him look paper-thin…
His face was pale, his thick glasses covering most of his face, his drooping bangs obscuring the gloom in his eyes.
Being grabbed by Chen Jiamu, Li Qi’s pale lips pursed, his brows slightly furrowed. He forcefully pulled his wrist free.
“Don’t touch me.”
“My business has nothing to do with you.”
Li Qi didn’t want others to get close to him. In his perception, people were always monsters driven by self-interest; without self-interest, anyone could be abandoned.
Just like that woman, unable to enter the Li family’s door, she doubled her suffering and imposed it on him.
“You stabbed me and say it has nothing to do with you?”
“We’re sort of acquaintances now. Come on, let’s go to the cafeteria for a meal.”
“I’m quite lonely eating alone.”
Chen Jiamu directly ignored the wariness in Li Qi’s eyes and pulled his wrist towards the cafeteria.
One pulled hard in front, the other’s face was tense and reluctant in the back.
This comical scene was witnessed by the little brothers following Chen Jiamu, who were so shocked that they didn’t even realize their ice cream had fallen to the ground.
When did the Li family’s kid become so close to Chen Shao?
Did the two become friends in the hospital?
