Paranoid Boss Always Wants to Possess Me CHAPTER 70

Chapter 70: Brother, You’re So Nervous

At the hotel, Chen Jiamu arrived as promised. He knocked on the door, and it opened; a large hand immediately pulled him into the room.

Powerful arms pinned his shoulders, and Chen Jiamu’s breathing quickened.

“Brother, you’re so nervous.”

Hot lips pressed against his ear. Chen Jiamu subconsciously closed his eyes, reaching out to grab the man’s hand.

“So impatient?”

Li Xi let out a muffled laugh, his whole body trembling with it. Chen Jiamu pulled his hand and placed it on his own chest, pressing it tightly against his heart.

The lights weren’t on in the room; only a faint night light glowed.

Chen Jiamu looked up into Li Xi’s eyes. Under the dim light, both of their breathing became urgent and heavy.

“Li Xi, what was that sentence you said under the fireworks?”

Chen Jiamu actually knew, but he wanted to hear Li Xi say it to him personally.

“Hm?”

“Do you want to know?”

Li Xi didn’t rush to speak. Instead, he quietly felt the heartbeat transmitted through his palm.

Thump, thump!

Every beat passed through his palm to his own heart, making it tingle numbly.

“Yes, I want to hear you say it again.”

Swallowing, Chen Jiamu didn’t dare miss a single change in his expression.

“Do you really not know?” Li Xi suddenly leaned in, the distance between them just a finger’s width. Warm breath washed over his face, and he could faintly smell the mint in his mouth.

Li Xi didn’t smoke, and neither did he. The mint flavor in his mouth entangled Chen Jiamu’s senses like a viper, making him want to get closer.

“Mhm, I don’t know.”

“So I want to hear you say it.”

Their gazes were glued together like lacquer. Li Xi hooked his lips in a smile, his large hand supporting the back of Jiamu’s head, his tone extremely devout and serious. “I said, I love you.”

“Now do you know? Chen Jiamu, I, Li Xi, love you to death.”

Boom. Chen Jiamu felt his mind go blank. Li Xi’s sentence echoed in his ears.

“I love you too.”

Chen Jiamu lifted his head, and their lips met. Desire ignited in that moment, burning fiercer and fiercer.

What is love? Chen Jiamu didn’t know. But the one thing he could be certain of was Li Xi’s reckless choice, his love that remained unchanged for four years.

Except in movies, who would recklessly wait three or five years? Li Xi could give that answer right now.

Chen Jiamu would wait for him, and he was waiting too…

Early the next morning, Chen Jiamu and Chen Cheng appeared at the company gate on time. He was glowing with health, his mental state a perfect score.

Chen Cheng looked at him in confusion as they got out of the car together. He had been incredibly happy in the car.

He was still like that at the company gate.

Walking side by side, Chen Cheng couldn’t help but ask curiously, “So happy, did you win the lottery?”

Knowing what she was asking, Chen Jiamu raised an eyebrow and pouted. “Can’t happiness be about something else? Does it have to be the lottery?”

“Besides, how much can you win in the lottery?”

Chen Cheng rolled her eyes at him. “Otherwise, what could it be? Are you in love?”

“You’re overthinking it. I’m happy because I saw my handsome face this morning. You have to be careful that the beauties in the company don’t get their souls hooked by me.”

Seeing his narcissistic appearance, the corner of Chen Cheng’s mouth couldn’t help but twitch. Why was Bai Jing quiet and introverted, while Chen Jiamu was like a dumbass with a death wish?

The elevator doors opened, and the two walked out one after the other. Chen Cheng glanced back at him and sneered, “The company’s beauties aren’t pigs; they don’t eat just anything.”

Now Chen Jiamu was unconvinced, howling as he leaned in front of her. “Wow, that’s too much! I’m your brother! Am I not handsome?”

“I think you have some misunderstanding about the word handsome. Read more books, watch fewer of those horseshoe-trimming videos; they lower your IQ.”

“Chen Cheng! I want to sue you!”

“Lawsuit bounces back!”

amidst the siblings’ bickering, Chen Jiamu’s journey of growth slowly unfolded…

The difference between a fast pace and a slow pace was quickly exposed. All morning, Chen Jiamu was busy spinning like a top.

His brain was also spinning fast, accepting the “education” of the senior employees. Watching the group of people looking down because of their busy work…

Chen Jiamu felt ashamed of what he had said that morning.

No wonder Chen Cheng said that. People were so busy they didn’t have time to look at you, let alone have their souls hooked…

Finally surviving until noon, Chen Jiamu lay exhausted on his desk, staring at the white ceiling, unable to say a word.

“Well, do you still think it’s fun?”

Chen Cheng walked over holding two drinks, looking at him with a mix of heartache and amusement.

Looking up at Chen Cheng, Chen Jiamu suddenly felt a bit sour. Taking the milk tea from her hand, his voice was much quieter. “Sis, have you lived like this for all these years?”

“I’m used to it. You get used to it.”

Chen Cheng nodded but didn’t complain. To grow into an independent, mature woman, how could one not experience a little wind and rain?

Chen Jiamu opened the milk tea and took a sip, feeling the sweetness of the taro paste spreading in his mouth. Fortunately, with the taro paste to sustain his life, Chen Jiamu could catch his breath.

“Old Sis, you’ve worked hard.”

Chen Jiamu had wanted to say this for a long time, but there was never a suitable occasion. Now that they were both in the company, Chen Jiamu gave her a thumbs up, revealing his true feelings.

“Oh stop it. But for four years, why do you like taro paste so much when you drink milk tea?”

“This stuff is sweet to death.”

Chen Cheng looked at the milk tea in her hand, her brows wrinkled. Seeing Chen Jiamu busy up and down, she thought to buy him a milk tea. Remembering he always drank a specific taro milk tea, she thought to try it too. Result: it was deadly sweet…

Chen Jiamu paused in drinking his tea. Then, looking at Chen Cheng seriously, he answered firmly, “Because I like it.”

Taro milk tea…

Actually, that cup of taro milk tea he drank years ago was on a day he went to the milk tea shop with Li Xi. Because he heard that if you’re unhappy, eating something sweet makes you feel better.

He thought Li Xi would feel better after drinking it, so he ordered two cups.

The taro milk tea that day was the best he had ever tasted, but Li Xi didn’t like it.

He also said it was too sweet…

But it didn’t matter. The cup of taro he gave away had already served its purpose.

Sweetness really does make people feel better, just like Li Xi.
