Paranoid Boss Always Wants to Possess Me Chapter 8

CHAPTER 8

Chapter 8: Going Home Together

“Mm.”

Li Qi responded lightly and sat in the passenger seat. Chen Jiamu froze for a moment, then pouted and lowered his head.

So Li Qi’s guard was pretty high…

After getting into the car, Li Qi remained silent, his eyes fixed on the road ahead.

“Li Qi, add me on your contacts!”

“Let’s hang out together sometime?”

The rain gradually subsided, and Chen Jiamu mustered the courage to show him his phone. Li Qi only glanced at it but didn’t make any move.

Seeing his lack of reaction, Chen Jiamu continued, “Add me, I won’t send you any spam messages.”

The driver was also attracted by their conversation, repeatedly glancing at Li Qi. Noticing the driver’s gaze, Li Qi pursed his lips and looked at Chen Jiamu.

After looking away, he slowly took out his phone and scanned his QR code.

Receiving Li Qi’s friend request, Chen Jiamu smartly sat up straight, took out his phone and started a barrage of messages.

Little Dogleg: [Am I such a cheap person? You stood me up, and now you want me to get your car?]

Peak Wood: [I’ll treat you to a big meal after the Dragon Boat Festival.]

Little Dogleg: [Just a meal to get rid of me? Am I a beggar?]

Peak Wood: [Beggars can’t enter five-star hotels, but I heard Song Qian might be around.]

Little Dogleg: [Okay, boss.]

With the car situation resolved, Chen Jiamu wanted to chat with Li Qi, but they were already home…

The car slowly stopped at the gate of the villa. The security guard, hearing the noise, poked his head out to check. Seeing it was an unfamiliar license plate, he immediately rushed out with an umbrella, “Unauthorized vehicles, leave immediately!”

Hearing the commotion, Li Qi slowly rolled down the window. The moment he saw Li Qi, the security guard immediately shut his mouth. Holding his umbrella, he approached quickly, “Young Master Qi, why did you come back in this car today?”

“The driver didn’t come.”

Li Qi responded indifferently. As he opened the car door, the security guard thoughtfully held an umbrella for him.

After closing the car door, Li Qi was about to leave when Chen Jiamu hurriedly called out, “Wait for me, Li Qi!”

Chen Jiamu’s shout reminded Li Qi that Chen Jiamu was also in the car. Turning his head to see his slightly disheveled appearance, Li Qi found it inexplicably funny.

Suddenly, a black figure passed by, and Li Qi saw that Chen Jiamu’s butler was standing in front of the car with an umbrella.

Chen Jiamu lived here too?

“Oh, Uncle Chen, you’ve arrived. Otherwise, I would have become a drowned rat.”

“It’s okay, I’ll have the servants prepare some ginger tea for you to ward off the cold.”

Chen’s butler was a portly middle-aged man, wearing a black short-sleeved shirt and matching trousers.

The umbrella was large, covering most of his face; Li Qi couldn’t see clearly even when he squinted his eyes.

Their conversation was casual, but Li Qi heard the butler’s affection for Chen Jiamu…

Is this what it feels like to be loved?

Seeing that Chen Jiamu had someone to pick him up, Li Qi left without looking back. By the time Chen Jiamu realized it, Li Qi had already disappeared into the rain…

“What are you looking at?”

Chen Jiamu’s eyes were scanning around. Uncle Chen asked, puzzled. Seeing no one, Chen Jiamu could only look away disappointedly and followed Uncle Chen to another villa.

“Nothing, let’s go.”

The driver who had taken them home was even more shocked. He thought it was an ordinary job, but it turned out to be the children of wealthy families…

He could use this to brag in his circle.

Back home, Chen Jiamu sat on the sofa and kept sneezing. After getting a bit wet, he felt dizzy.

“Drink this ginger tea quickly to ward off the cold.”

“I told you, you shouldn’t have come back by yourself; you should have asked Xiao Zhang to pick you up.”

Uncle Chen looked worried, his brows furrowed. He couldn’t help but nag.

“I didn’t expect it to rain; I’m so unlucky.”

The ginger tea was very spicy; Chen Jiamu had to sip it slowly. After half a bowl, his whole face was wrinkled.

“It’s so spicy, Uncle Chen…”

Unable to control his facial contortions, Chen Jiamu looked up at Uncle Chen and acted spoiled.

“Finish it, or you’ll feel uncomfortable tonight.”

“Why did you come back with Young Master Qi from the Li family today?”

“When did you two become so close?”

Uncle Chen looked at Chen Jiamu with affection as he grimaced from the spice. Seeing him finish, he asked his question from earlier.

Usually, Chen Jiamu was sent back by the driver, or at least a friend. Why did he receive a message today to meet him at the villa opposite…

When he saw Li Qi, he instinctively frowned. Wasn’t Chen Jiamu hospitalized because of him?

He thought the two would resent each other because of this incident…

“Coincidence, then it started raining, I didn’t have an umbrella, so he gave me a ride.”

After drinking the ginger tea, Chen Jiamu curled up on the sofa and closed his eyes. Silently enduring the aftertaste…

“Is that so? Then he’s quite nice.”

“It’s great that you two could reconcile.”

Uncle Chen smiled, the wrinkles at the corners of his eyes bunching together.

“Mm-hmm.”

Perhaps because of getting wet, Chen Jiamu felt his consciousness becoming more and more muddled under the effects of the ginger tea…

Gradually, his head drooped, and steady breathing filled the room…

Huh? He fell asleep already?

Uncle Chen squinted his eyes to take a closer look, and after confirming he was asleep, he quietly took a blanket and covered him…

The rain outside gradually intensified, accompanied by the sound of the downpour, Chen Jiamu seemed to sleep even more soundly…
