Chapter 89: As Long As You Want To
An Yiyi’s voice was so high-pitched and loud that passersby stopped to stare.
Quickly extricating herself from Bai Jing’s arms, Chen Cheng turned around and saw An Yiyi running toward her, holding a pink umbrella.
“Yiyi.”
Steadying herself, Chen Cheng looked at An Yiyi as the girl stepped in front of her. An Yiyi’s chest was heaving with anger, her eyes staring warily at Bai Jing.
A love rival?
“Jie-jie, I bought the umbrella. Let’s go.”
An Yiyi held up the umbrella, making a move to pull Chen Cheng away. This guy had appeared in front of Chen Cheng twice now; even the most oblivious person could tell he was interested in her.
“Mm, okay.”
After nodding to Bai Jing, Chen Cheng walked away from the cinema entrance under the umbrella with An Yiyi.
Bai Jing squeezed his hands together, staring blankly at Chen Cheng’s retreating back until a friend’s hand slapped his shoulder, snapping him out of it.
“What are you looking at?”
“Nothing.”
Bai Jing shook his head and left the cinema with his companion.
Why did it feel like that girl named Yiyi harbored such a deep resentment toward him?
On the way back, An Yiyi tentatively asked Chen Cheng, “Jie-jie, who was that person?”
“Is he your friend?”
“Just a business partner. Jiamu’s college classmate.”
Chen Cheng didn’t think much of it; her knowledge of Bai Jing was limited to that. Years ago, Chen Jiamu had brought classmates home, but she didn’t have the slightest memory of them. That was why she hadn’t recognized Bai Jing initially.
“Oh~”
An Yiyi gave a soft response and didn’t continue her questioning. They walked to the parking area, and after getting into the car, An Yiyi became much quieter.
Once they reached her front door, Chen Cheng handed her the umbrella. “Go back and get some rest.”
“Keep yourself warm; the temperature drops when it rains.”
After getting out of the car, An Yiyi reluctantly took the umbrella. Hearing Chen Cheng’s concern, she immediately flashed a bright smile.
“Jie-jie, where are we going to play tomorrow?”
Chen Cheng was leaning down to find a tissue. Hearing An Yiyi’s question, her movements paused. After a moment of thought, she said, “I’m not sure if there will be any schedule arrangements tomorrow. I’m not certain I’ll have time.”
Hearing that she might not be free, An Yiyi bit her lip in disappointment. However, she maintained her smile and waved. “If you don’t have time, Jie-jie, it’s no problem.”
“We can make plans for next week!”
“Okay.”
Chen Cheng nodded in agreement and then drove away.
As soon as Chen Cheng left, An Yiyi’s face immediately fell. Jie-jie isn’t free…
And I have a love rival…
It seemed she needed to speed up her progress. she couldn’t let anyone else have an opportunity.
In this damp, dark night, everyone had different thoughts on their minds. Only Chen Jiamu and Li Qi enjoyed a peaceful time, lying in bed together and falling into a sweet dream in each other’s arms.
Early the next morning, Chen Jiamu received a message from Chen Cheng. The text told him he could take another day off; she would go to the company first.
After glancing at the message, Chen Jiamu buried his head back in the pillow and went back to sleep.
An hour later, he opened his eyes and looked at Li Qi, who had been up since early morning handling documents online.
After a moment of contemplation, he asked tentatively, “Do you have a lot to do today?”
“What is it?”
Stopping his work, Li Qi turned to look at Chen Jiamu. He didn’t understand why the man was suddenly asking this.
“I was thinking… the North is much colder than the South right now. I heard there are ice sculptures.”
“I…”
As he spoke, Chen Jiamu felt it was a bit ridiculous. Where could they even go with just one day?
Besides, it was too late to head North…
“If you want to go, I’ll buy the tickets right now.”
“We’ll take the earliest flight, yeah?”
Even as he spoke, Li Qi quickly opened his phone to check for tickets. Chen Jiamu was a bit conflicted, thinking that going for just one day felt too short.
With that thought, he grabbed Li Qi’s hand and said awkwardly, “Maybe we should forget it. The timing is too rushed.”
Li Qi paused, looking at him with a serious expression. He reached out and pinched Chen Jiamu’s cheek. “Don’t worry about so much. If you want to go, we go.”
“What does it matter if it’s one day or two? If you want to go, go. If you want to do something, do it.”
“You don’t need to consider all that. I’ll be with you.”
Once Li Qi finished, Chen Jiamu finally shut his mouth sheepishly, hesitating whether to ask Chen Cheng for more leave.
“Alright, the tickets are bought.”
“Get up and pack your things. We leave in one hour!”
With a ding, Li Qi put down his phone and urged Chen Jiamu to hurry.
“Huh?”
“That fast?”
“Yes. If we want to go, we go!”
Chen Jiamu scrambled out of bed excitedly and expertly packed his suitcase.
An hour later, the two of them appeared at the airport. Sitting on the airport sofa, Chen Jiamu still hadn’t fully processed everything.
An hour ago, he was in bed. Now, an hour later, he was at the airport.
And Li Qi was right beside him. At the moment, however, Li Qi was walking toward him with a bowl of noodles. Setting the tray down, Li Qi thoughtfully stirred it for him. “Eat some breakfast. We’ll be boarding soon.”
“Do you think my thinking is too scatterbrained? Just deciding things on a whim?”
Staring at Li Qi, Chen Jiamu was a bit worried. He was afraid of disrupting Li Qi’s work schedule.
“Not at all. As long as you want to go, I’ll accompany you anywhere.”
Li Qi picked up a mouthful of noodles, carefully blew on them to cool them down, and then put them in his own mouth.
After chewing for a bit and deciding it tasted good, he offered it to Chen Jiamu. “The flavor is fine, and it’s not too hot anymore. Eat up.”
“Okay.”
Li Qi was a meticulous person. Though he was somewhat obsessive in certain aspects, it didn’t stop him from being a perfect boyfriend.
A man who wasn’t a killjoy, who supported you wholeheartedly, and who was wealthy, handsome, and capable—thankfully, he belonged to Chen Jiamu.
After they finished eating, an airport staff member informed them that they could board.
As the staff helped push their luggage, the two looked at each other and shared a smile.
Once they went to another province, they wouldn’t have to worry about so much anymore…
