Chapter 95: Ilya’s Secret
“Yiyi? Why are you here?”
Chen Cheng stood in place, watching An Yiyi run toward her. An Yiyi came to a steady stop in front of Chen Cheng, her expression full of worry. “I went to the company to find you, but they said you went to the police station. I thought something had happened to you.”
“I’m fine. The one who has something wrong is Jiamu. His arm was injured by a falling brick, and he’s in the hospital right now.”
“As long as you’re fine… but how did he get hit?” An Yiyi looked confused. She actually hadn’t paid attention to Chen Jiamu for a long time.
As for what he was doing, she had no idea at all.
“I let him go to the construction site for an inspection, and someone ambushed him.”
“The police said they found out who it was, but we have to wait until the person is caught.” Looking at the time, Chen Cheng walked toward the car parked nearby. Just as she opened the door, she subconsciously looked back at An Yiyi. “I’m going to the hospital to see Jiamu. Do you want to come along?”
Chen Cheng assumed An Yiyi still liked Chen Jiamu; otherwise, why would she come to the company to find her every few days?
She even said she had fallen in love with someone she shouldn’t. Wouldn’t that be Chen Jiamu?
Chen Jiamu didn’t like her, so there was indeed no possibility for the two of them.
But, it was only impossible with Chen Jiamu. Why would her family fight with her because of that?
They even kicked her out of the house.
Chen Cheng felt this matter was too brain-taxing, so she chose not to think about it. She wasn’t actually that interested in who An Yiyi liked.
In her eyes, An Yiyi was just a gentle and introverted young girl.
“O-Okay.”
Hearing she was going to the hospital to see Chen Jiamu, An Yiyi felt a bit of inner resistance. But at the thought of being able to stay by Chen Cheng’s side, she reluctantly agreed.
After the two got into the car, they headed straight for the hospital.
However, what An Yiyi didn’t expect was that she would be intercepted by Li Xi at the hospital.
At the hospital, Li Xi estimated the time was about right. He looked at Chen Jiamu, who was lying on the bed with his eyes closed, and held his hand, saying tenderly, “Eat something before you sleep.”
“At least have some soup.”
Opening his eyes, Chen Jiamu stared at him for a while, then nodded and went back to resting.
“Then wait a bit, I’ll go buy it for you.”
Li Xi placed a kiss on his forehead and then walked out of the ward with large strides.
Leaving the hospital, Li Xi immediately began searching the nearby streets. Seeing a restaurant that looked decent, he went in and ordered a serving of soup and some dishes.
Meanwhile, at the hospital, Chen Cheng parked the car, and the two rushed to the ward.
In the ward, Chen Jiamu heard footsteps and thought Li Xi had returned. He turned his head and was about to ask what he had bought, but the ones who pushed the door open were Chen Cheng and An Yiyi.
Seeing An Yiyi behind Chen Cheng, Chen Jiamu had long since become accustomed to it.
Since some unknown time, a “little tail” had appeared behind Chen Cheng.
Bai Jing was also complaining to him that whenever he happened to meet Chen Cheng or asked her out, An Yiyi would appear.
If she wasn’t downstairs, she was on the street. She wouldn’t even let him be alone with Chen Cheng, making it so he had no chance to talk more with her.
Adding to the fact that he had a lot of work, he didn’t have much time to look for Chen Cheng either.
Chen Jiamu naturally saw Bai Jing’s feelings for Chen Cheng. However, regarding Chen Cheng’s affairs, Chen Jiamu wouldn’t intervene too much.
So, he felt it was fine if Bai Jing liked Chen Cheng. Besides, Bai Jing’s conditions were very good.
“Your face is so pale. Does it still hurt a lot?”
Chen Cheng closed the door and sat by his side. She reached out and placed her hand on his forehead, only sighing in relief when she didn’t feel any heat.
“It’s alright.”
“How is the investigation going?”
Chen Jiamu saw her come in and assumed she had some idea in her heart.
“The police said it was a habitual offender, but they don’t know why he targeted you this time.”
“We have to wait until they catch the person.”
Hearing it was a habitual offender, the corner of Chen Jiamu’s mouth twitched. His luck was truly wretched—he hadn’t done anything, yet he was still targeted.
The two of them talked back and forth. An Yiyi sat to the side feeling a bit awkward.
She stood up, whispered a few words into Chen Cheng’s ear, and then quietly left the ward.
Seeing her leave, Chen Jiamu couldn’t help but comment, “She’s almost become your little follower.”
“She likes you way too much. What, is she trying to steal my sister from me?”
“Is she the only child in her family?”
Seeing that he was still in the mood to tease her, Chen Cheng dotingly patted his head. “Is this kid jealous?”
“She’s just a little girl, what are you being jealous of? She might be clingy because she’s an only child and doesn’t have a sister to care for her.”
Chen Cheng attributed An Yiyi’s clinginess to her lack of sisterly love, which was why she was so fond of her.
“True enough.”
Chen Jiamu chuckled. Chen Cheng suddenly remembered that his injury hadn’t been reported to their parents yet.
“Did you tell Mom and Dad?”
“No, I don’t want them to worry about this.”
Chen Jiamu knew what Chen Cheng wanted to say and shook his head in refusal.
“Fine.”
The two were chatting in the ward, while An Yiyi was at the stairwell making a call. After a few words with the other party, she heard footsteps behind her. Turning her head, she saw Li Xi standing behind her holding a food container.
He was staring straight at her. When their eyes met, Li Xi suddenly curled his lips into a smirk.
“Long time no see.”
“Ilyia…”
