25. Releasing Spiritual Power
Su Tang’s voice seemed so clear at this moment.
“I am a Guide. Actually, the air here, aside from smelling bad, doesn’t cause pollution to me. I can release my spiritual power to help you detect the direction of those things.”
Guides were different from Sentinels. The powerful spiritual power in a Guide’s consciousness sea could ensure they weren’t polluted; it was just that they were naturally weak in aggression, far inferior to the combat power of Sentinels.
“Captain, Guide Su is right. Releasing a Guide’s spiritual power can indeed help us solve our current predicament.”
Kelai’s eyes lit up. Originally, he had prepared to lead the Sentinels in a carpet search. Su Tang’s words undoubtedly lit a bright lamp for him.
“But Guide Su’s level isn’t high. Releasing spiritual power consumes a lot of a Guide’s spiritual power. If something happens… we aren’t in the Tower, and the medical standards won’t keep up.”
Some Sentinels also raised doubts. After all, Su Tang’s level was right there. Even if she could use spiritual power to scout, letting a Guide risk exhaustion to help them complete the mission was a humiliation carved onto every Sentinel.
“Don’t worry. My spiritual power hasn’t become so weak that just scouting isn’t enough. Besides, there are many supplement potions in the backpack, no need to worry.”
Mo Xiao stared at Su Tang for a while. The best solution was right before his eyes. As a Sentinel Captain, given the current situation, he couldn’t refuse Su Tang’s proposal.
“Okay.”
Receiving permission, Su Tang closed her eyes and slowly released her spiritual power.
As the spiritual power was released, Su Tang could clearly see every area her spiritual power brushed over.
Upon sensing an obstruction, she directed all her spiritual power toward that direction. Seeing the source of the obstruction clearly, Su Tang spoke.
“Vice Captain Kelai, at your 3 o’clock direction, there are about 50 alien species.”
Mo Xiao waved his hand. The Sentinels raised the energy guns in their hands and fired in the direction Su Tang indicated. Soon, ear-piercing shrieks came from that direction.
“Heh, Guide Su’s detection is really useful.”
“Is this the benefit of bringing a Guide on a mission? I’m actually starting to enjoy this feeling.”
“Thanks to Guide Su; otherwise, what would we have done about this mission?”
“That’s right. With Guide Su here, our mission this time will definitely conclude with a successful return.”
Su Tang was also very happy to be able to help them. She released her spiritual power again. Sensing a spot where the energy fluctuation was unusually obvious, she sent out all her spiritual threads.
Unlike last time, this time she encountered a significant obstruction. A scorching burning sensation transmitted along a wisp of spiritual thread. Su Tang hurriedly withdrew all her spiritual power. A faint burning sensation came from her fingertips, and Su Tang subconsciously shook her hand.
“What’s wrong?”

Mo Xiao looked toward the east.
“It seems that place should be the nest built by these species in this area.”
“Nest?”
Su Tang looked at Kelai who spoke.

Alien species with intelligence won’t move on instinct alone; they will organize an order and elect a leader. The leader establishes a nest, attracting a large number of alien species to submit, and then commands them uniformly.”
“The leader stays inside the nest, and other species come to provide for it.”
“Sounds very similar to the habits of the ant species.”
Hearing Kelai explain it this way, that leader was just like a provided-for Ant Queen.
“There are still differences.”
“An Ant Queen only needs to accept provisions within the nest and reproduce offspring. But that leader accepts the spiritual power provided by the species. Its level definitely won’t be low, possibly even higher than what the White Tower predicted initially.”
Su Tang looked at Mo Xiao.
“Captain Mo, what do we do next?”
Mo Xiao didn’t answer Su Tang but turned to look at Kelai.
“Kelai, lead the team toward the east side. Pay attention to clearing the alien bodies along the way.”
“Yes.”
The team’s advancing speed wasn’t fast. The members spread out in a fan shape, guns raised at all times, ready to deal with sudden dangers that might arrive.
“Don’t stray too far from me later.”
Mo Xiao walked to Su Tang’s side and couldn’t help but remind her again.
“Don’t worry, I value my life quite a bit.”
Just as Su Tang finished this sentence, a violent tremor caused a bump under her feet. Her entire body pitched forward uncontrollably. Fortunately, Mo Xiao beside her grabbed her; otherwise, she feared she would have become one with the bloody water on the ground.
“Looks like that guy sensed us coming.”
“Release your spiritual entities and prepare for combat.”
The most formidable thing about Sentinels didn’t lie in their tough physiques, but in their spiritual entities. At Mo Xiao’s order, various spiritual entities were released by the Sentinels. The Silver Wolf howled, instantly enlarging its body, standing majestically in front of Su Tang, arching its back, its entire body in combat mode.
With the vibration of the ground, the surrounding black mist became thicker and thicker, so thick one couldn’t see the surroundings clearly at all.
Su Tang released her spiritual power to probe for that guy’s tracks, suddenly sensing a pressure coming from above them.
“Watch out above!”
Almost the instant her voice fell, a black shadow charged straight down at them from above, fast as a bolt of lightning.
“Silver Wolf!”
Blocking in front of her, the Silver Wolf bent its hind legs slightly, then its entire wolf body lunged upward. Its tail became massive, and with a twist of its body, it swatted that black shadow forcefully aside.
The surrounding environment was truly terrifyingly dark. Sentinels had sharp senses, so fighting even in a pitch-black environment wouldn’t make them overly restricted. The scary part was that this black mist carried pollution values.
She could feel that quite a few Sentinels were already starting to show signs of irritability. Their pollution levels were gradually rising; this couldn’t go on.
Su Tang gritted her teeth.
She controlled her spiritual power to release fully, flowing freely in the pitch-black environment, emitting speckles of golden light.
“It’s the Guide. The Guide is dispelling the pollution.”
As the surrounding pitch-black environment was driven away bit by bit, everyone’s visible range also expanded.
Finally, they saw the true face of that black shadow.
It was a creature black throughout, practically a ball of flesh rolling on the ground, mixed with gravel and corpses from the ground, as well as liquid of indistinguishable color oozing from the flesh ball from time to time. Su Tang looked away; this thing was truly an eyesore.
