Popular Guide: S-Class Sentinels All Want to Monopolize Me Chapter 49

Chapter 49: On the Verge of Losing Control

Yasuo lowered his eyes. His voice was deep and fragmented, as if it spilled from his throat.

He didn’t consider himself a good person. Having paid so much for the White Tower, he absolutely didn’t want to end up like Shen Ji in the end. He would rather die in a mission than be treated without dignity like some kind of monster.

He admitted, that venomous snake Shen Ji had indeed seized his vital weakness. To be exact, there was not a single Sentinel who could refuse the temptation in those words of his.

But he also didn’t want to force a Guide as he had proposed.

Perhaps, when he was thoroughly forced into a desperate situation like Shen Ji’s, only then would he understand what the answer in his heart was.

“What are you chatting about?”

Anse’s voice, carrying its customary laziness, drifted leisurely into the ears of the two present.

Yasuo raised an eyebrow and turned his head, only to see Anse walking over unhurriedly. Dressed in a white coat and gold-rimmed glasses, it made that old fox look quite the gentleman hypocrite. He carried a box in his hand in a pretentious manner.

“Oh, Yasuo is here too.”

Yasuo coldly snorted. What was he pretending for? The spiritual entity was connected to its master’s consciousness; didn’t he already know he was here?

Hearing its master’s voice, the little fox in Su Tang’s arms instantly lifted its head, struggling to jump down. Su Tang hurriedly let go. The little fellow darted to Anse’s feet with a whoosh, rubbing its head against his trouser leg, emitting aggrieved whimpers from its throat.

“Oh, who bullied you here, you useless little thing.”

Anse bent down and picked up the fox, his fingertips rubbing its bristling tail. Although he was comforting the little fox in his arms, his gaze swept over Su Tang and Yasuo one by one.

“Department Head Anse.”

Su Tang quietly breathed a sigh of relief. Honestly speaking, she wasn’t familiar with Yasuo. Now that Anse had arrived, it somewhat alleviated her nervous emotions.

Anse ignored her. Holding the fox, he walked in front of Yasuo, placing the box he carried onto the empty ground aside.

“Bullying Xiao Wei here right after returning, why didn’t you go find me at the Medical Department first?”

Seeing Anse unobtrusively inserting himself between him and Su Tang, Yasuo scoffed and shifted to the side, pulling open the distance between him and Anse. What a joke, he didn’t have the habit of being physically close to a Sentinel.

“Anse, this fox of yours is just like you, simply extremely impolite.”

“It’s always better than some people, getting handsy with a weak little Guide and wantonly frightening spiritual entities.”

As he spoke, Anse suddenly manipulated his spiritual power, probing toward Yasuo. Pale golden spiritual power enveloped his entire body. Yasuo subconsciously entered a state of alert.

“What are you doing?”

“Giving you a routine checkup, don’t move.”

She originally thought that with Yasuo’s arrogant nature, being scolded by Anse like this would definitely cause him to counterattack. Unexpectedly, that little black cat actually remained obediently motionless just like that, allowing Anse to examine him.

Su Tang opened her hands and caught Xiao Wei, who threw itself back into her arms after being neglected by its master. Her fingers rhythmically ravaged that fluffy fur.

Holding the soft little fox in her arms, Su Tang ignored the exchange of glances between those two men. Lowering her head, she combed the hair she had messed up on the little fox bit by bit. Thus, she didn’t see how stiff the man standing in front of her became.

“Tsk—”

“Put away this sickeningly disgusting posture of yours.”

From Yasuo’s perspective, it was crystal clear. This old fox was clearly so pleased that his eyes were narrowed. Did she like petting that bristling fox so much? It clearly didn’t feel as good as the black cat on his shoulder. He didn’t know what she was so invested in petting it for.

The more Yasuo thought about it, the more annoyed he felt. He gathered his spiritual power, rejecting Anse’s examination.

Ignoring Yasuo’s almost cursing words, Anse’s brows furrowed tightly. He was more worried about Yasuo’s body.

“How could your riot value rise so quickly? Not just the riot value, your spiritual power disorder is simply a total mess. Did you not use the suppressants I gave you at all?”

Before Yasuo went on the mission, he had given Yasuo some special suppressants. Judging from his previous examination results, as long as he injected those suppressants on time, no matter what, his current condition wouldn’t have become this bad.

Yasuo’s face darkened, and he scoffed.

“Since when did you become so long-winded? My affairs are none of your business.”

“I just don’t want to personally go collect your corpse one day.”

Anse didn’t get angry either; his tone carried a bit of seriousness.

Su Tang was alarmed listening from the side and subconsciously looked at Yasuo.

The man’s posture was relaxed, but at this moment, he was like a cat that had its tail stepped on and bristled, looking extremely tense in the nerves.

She believed Anse had no need to lie about this aspect. So, was Yasuo’s condition really that terrible already?

Then would he accept Shen Ji’s proposal?

Su Tang felt uneasy, and the action of her fingers kneading the little fox involuntarily became a bit heavier. Anse’s body stiffened; he almost embarrassed himself in front of Yasuo. His gaze cast a slightly displeased glance at Su Tang, but he saw the little girl looking absent-minded, not knowing what she was thinking. He couldn’t help but sigh in his heart.

It seemed he had to find time to give her a good talk about the knowledge regarding the body structure of Sentinels.

“Stop cursing me over there.” Yasuo kicked the pebble on the ground. His voice was stiff, yet inexplicably carried a bit of gloominess. “I’m perfectly fine. No need for you to hypocritically play the good guy there.”

“Perfectly fine?”

Anse raised an eyebrow.

“If you were really perfectly fine as you say, you wouldn’t be disturbed in your thoughts by a few words from that guy Shen Ji, and you wouldn’t be wantonly teasing Su Tang here. Yasuo, wake up. That laughable self-control of yours is fundamentally no match for out-of-control spiritual power.”

These words were like a needle, accurately piercing Yasuo’s sore spot.

He fiercely raised his head, a trace of brutality flashing in his eyes.

“You sent people to spy on me?”

“I have zero interest in spying on you.”

Anse lowered his head, bent down, and took out a vial of potion from the box by his feet.

“You should know that the most precise spiritual power detection instruments are all embedded within the walls inside the White Tower. The spiritual power fluctuations during your conversation with Shen Ji, and your situation in the office throughout the day today, were all transmitted to my terminal.”

He paused, his tone softening a bit, carrying a hint of helplessness.

“Don’t be willful at a time like this anymore. This potion has a stronger effect than the ones given to you before. After using it, come find me for a test tomorrow.”

Yasuo’s fist clenched and then loosened.

He knew Anse was telling the truth. His spiritual power recently was indeed difficult to self-control. Even at the moment he saw Su Tang, he had thought about accepting Shen Ji’s proposal and capturing the little Guide. He knew that whether Su Tang was willing or not, that guy Shen Ji would always have a way to extract her spiritual power for their use.

It was just that the clarity after the confusion made him loathe himself even more for the disgusting things he was just thinking about.
