Chapter 9. Invitation from the Medical Department
Su Tang dragged her exhausted body back to her room. Before she could open her door, the door behind her was pushed open first.
“Was it worth it?”
Only then did Su Tang discover that Mo Xiao lived right across from her. No wonder Zhan Ye spoke to her like that the other day.
“What?”
The silver wolf squeezed out from the door and nestled by her feet. Unlike before when it would happily stick to her upon seeing her, this time, the little fellow seemed a bit unhappy.
“I’m asking you, risking your life for those few points—was it worth it?”
She had just been carried into the Medical Department by Zhan Ye when the news reached him.
“There’s no such thing as worth it or not. I want to survive here; I know what I’m doing.”
Su Tang pushed open the door, and the silver wolf at her feet followed her in.
Su Tang closed the door, looked down at the cutie sticking to her feet, curled her lips slightly, bent down, and picked the little fellow up.
“Good baby, are you staying with me today?”
The little wolf didn’t speak, just burying itself in Su Tang’s arms and refusing to look up. Obviously, it knew something unpleasant had happened between its owner and Su Tang, causing the entire wolf’s mood to be depressed.
“Good.”
Su Tang didn’t want to explain anything to a wolf. She petted it twice, put it on the sofa to the side, and then walked into the bathroom.
Hearing the dripping sound of water from the bathroom, Mo Xiao couldn’t help but take out a cigarette and light it. He didn’t have a smoking habit, but it seemed that ever since Su Tang came to the White Tower, his addiction was being hooked up bit by bit.

Warm sunlight shone onto her cheek through the screen window. Su Tang stretched her arms comfortably. The little fellow seemed to sense her movement; from not far away came the sound of soft paw pads hitting the floor.
Su Tang closed her eyes, feeling the sound getting closer and closer, and then a soft touch crossed the soft mattress and finally pounced into her arms.
She couldn’t help but let out a few chuckles from her throat, her hands touching the little fellow acting spoiled in her arms with abandon.
“Good morning, darling.”
Opening her eyes, she adjusted to the bright environment, then looked down at the silver wolf who had instantly thrown yesterday’s emo mood to the back of its mind.
“Little fellow, I have a question to ask you. When you are by Mo Xiao’s side, do you also act spoiled like this?”
It was just a sudden thought, a casual question, but unexpectedly, this question made the little fellow flopping in her arms freeze instantly. Then, unaware if it was her illusion, she felt she heard the crisp sound of something shattering outside.
“Alright, if it’s hard to answer, we’ll skip this question.”
It was just a momentary whim; she wasn’t that obsessed with knowing the answer.
She played with the silver wolf on the bed for a while longer. After tidying herself up, she opened a small cabinet in the living room used for refrigeration.
A large amount of nutrient solution was stored inside. Although there was a cafeteria in the White Tower, the daily limited meal items were pitifully few. This was unavoidable; after all, most areas hadn’t been reclaimed yet, and areas suitable for growing food were extremely limited. Moreover, the outside environment wasn’t suitable for the growth of most crops.
Over time, people came to rely more on nutrient solutions to fill their bellies.
She picked up a blue package and stuffed it into her mouth. Just as she thought, it was blueberry flavored.
With a bottle of nutrient solution in her stomach, the emptiness was completely filled.
There seemed to be no other arrangements today. Mo Xiao hadn’t assigned her tasks, and the silver wolf hadn’t been recalled by him. That meant she could nest with the silver wolf all day today.
Just as the sense of satisfaction welled up in her heart, her wristband vibrated with such lack of tact. Su Tang sighed slightly. Sure enough, working people shouldn’t dream of a perfect vacation; see, the retribution came immediately.
Tapping the touch area of the wristband, a call request from the Medical Department popped up on the screen.
Why was the Medical Department calling her at this time? Could it be they detected the abnormality yesterday?
There was no time for Su Tang to think. White Tower Communication Rule No. 1: Official number call requests not answered within 30 seconds will be automatically connected.
Watching helplessly as the call request was automatically connected, Su Tang pursed her lips tightly and listened to the voice from the other side.
“Is this Guide Su Tang?”
“I am.”
The silver wolf seemed to sense her uneasy emotions; it jumped over from not far away and lay on her knees.
“It’s like this. Your spiritual power condition yesterday seems to have been severely overdrafted. According to the White Tower Guide Protection Guidelines, you need to come to the Medical Department for a detailed examination. Are you free now?”
Detailed examination?
Including what?
Will my special spiritual power be detected?
Thousands of thoughts surged in Su Tang’s mind, and for a moment, she didn’t know how to reply.
“Hello? Hello? Guide Su Tang, are you listening? If you have time, please arrive at the Medical Department at 9:30 this morning. If you have difficulties, we will send special personnel to provide assistance.”
“I’m listening. Okay, I will go to the Medical Department.”
Su Tang hung up the call and lay back on the soft sofa. Letting the sunlight shine on her body, she unconsciously began to feel cold. The stable days hadn’t lasted long; was it coming to an abrupt end now?
“Woo—woo~”
The silver wolf rubbed hard into Su Tang’s arms, seeming to want to bring her supporting strength.
“I’m fine, little fellow. But now, you should go back to your master yourself. I have to go out in a while; I’m afraid it’s not convenient to take you with me.”
The silver wolf hesitated for a moment, staring tightly at her with its big aquatic-blue eyes for a few seconds, looking very worried.
“I’m really fine. Be good, go back to your master.”
Some things, she had to go to know the result. Continuing to think about those unhappened futures here was truly suffocating.
Seeing Su Tang’s firm attitude, the silver wolf didn’t persist. Before leaving, it lowered its head and rubbed affectionately against Su Tang’s wrist.
Although it didn’t know why this human was so uneasy, it felt its master would definitely know.

Returning to the Medical Department again, Su Tang stood at the door and took a deep breath before pushing the door open and entering.
Passing through a large corridor, the air was full of the smell of disinfectant. Walking to the end of the corridor and pushing open the door to the consultation room, what she felt first was the strong smell of disinfectant, mixed with a faint scent of cedar.
Su Tang couldn’t help but take a step back. This smell really couldn’t be described as pleasant.
“Sorry, I just received a severely injured patient. That guy wasn’t very cooperative and spilled disinfectant all over the floor.”
