Chapter 93. Too Tightly Wound
Throughout the next day, after several consecutive sessions of absorption, Su Tang’s spiritual sea gradually stabilized.
As the morning sun filtered through the window lattice, Su Tang sat by the edge of the bed and closed her eyes. Within her spiritual sea, the silver-blue jellyfish was swimming freely. The energy from the cocoon had been completely devoured, and the previously shattered barriers had been repaired.
Her spiritual sea had recovered so quickly these past two days thanks to Mo Xiao.
“It’s time.”
A faint silver light flickered at Su Tang’s fingertips; her spiritual power had fully returned. A knock sounded at the door, and Su Tang invited the person in.
For the past two days, only Mo Xiao had come to find her at this hour.
He walked toward her, his posture tall and straight, though his shoulders were slightly stiff and his left hand instinctively guarded his chest.
When he reached Su Tang, the tips of his ears instantly turned red.
“Are you fully recovered?”
Mo Xiao’s voice carried a hint of regret. Up close, Su Tang finally realized why he looked a bit off—the curve of his chest seemed fuller than usual, and the faint outline of something hard was visible under his combat uniform.
Su Tang couldn’t help but look down, stifling a laugh. It was already quite prominent; there was no need to pad it further.
“Yes, thanks to your help, I’ve completely recovered.”
“I’m going to find An Se now and have him take me to the medical pods.”
Mo Xiao watched her retreating back and quietly breathed a sigh of relief. His fingertips uncontrollably pressed against his chest, where the medical pads he had inserted protected him from the constant friction of the fabric.
After being repeatedly kissed and licked by her over the last two days, that Mark had become exceptionally sensitive. Even the slightest rub of clothing was enough to disturb his peace of mind.
While changing this morning, he had looked at the pinkish skin in the mirror and ultimately couldn’t resist digging out chest pads from the medical kit. At least they provided a barrier against direct contact, making him slightly more comfortable.
Su Tang found An Se and explained her recovery. An Se didn’t find it strange; after all, Mo Xiao had been in and out of her room constantly these days, and he was well aware of what they were doing.
Hearing that Su Tang wanted to help Zhan Ye right away, he couldn’t help but raise a playful eyebrow.
“At this hour, Mo Xiao should have just left your room. Are you sure your body can handle it?”
“What does this have to do with Mo Xiao…”
Before Su Tang could finish, she suddenly realized the implication in An Se’s words. She shut her mouth instantly, her face flushed crimson.
“You… you knew?”
The man nodded with a teasing grin.
“The Medical Department is my territory, after all. How could I not know what you two were up to?”
“It was a very smart move. You don’t need to feel embarrassed in front of me.”
The results were significant, weren’t they?
An injury that would normally require half a month of rest had been mostly repaired in just two days. It was a very cost-effective trade.
“However, since he just left your room, do you need to rest a bit before going to Zhan Ye? After all, Zhan Ye’s situation is quite thorny…”
“No need! We didn’t do that kind of thing. I don’t need rest!”
The girl, face burning, practically shouted the sentence. An Se raised an eyebrow in surprise. It had been two days, and that fellow Mo Xiao still hadn’t swallowed the meat? He was truly a bit incompetent.
A trace of pity entered An Se’s gaze as he looked at Su Tang. If this opportunity had been given to him…
“Fine, are you going to take me or not? If not, I’ll go find Mo Xiao…”
“Follow me.”
An Se led the way, taking Su Tang through a series of twists and turns into a dark room.
As the door slowly opened, the heavy scent of disinfectant hit them—much stronger than when she first arrived at the Medical Department.
Zhan Ye lay on the treatment table in the center, his upper body bare. An Se hadn’t lied; the wound on his chest had scabbed over. It seemed the clotting factors had indeed worked.
“The pollution in his body is very severe.”
An Se pulled up a real-time monitoring chart. On the screen, the collapse value was nearly touching the red line.
“Try it first. See if you can establish a link with him.”
Su Tang nodded, sat down beside the treatment table, and gently placed her palm over Zhan Ye’s chest.
The moment her spiritual threads were released and touched Zhan Ye’s chest, they were violently repelled by a powerful force.
“I can’t. He’s resisting my entry.”
Su Tang withdrew her hand, her fingertips slightly numb from the force of the rejection.
An Se frowned.
“The excessive trauma to his body has triggered a stress response. He’s unconscious now, and his subconscious treats any approaching energy as a threat. Try to make him relax first.”
How was she supposed to make him relax?
Su Tang hesitated. Recalling her experience soothing Zhan Ye last time, she leaned over slightly and pressed a kiss to the corner of his mouth, her tongue carefully licking his tightly pursed lips.
“Zhan Ye, relax. Open up to me. Let me help you, okay…?”
Zhan Ye’s Adam’s apple bobbed slightly, but he showed no signs of relaxing.
The rioting spiritual power in his body even surged more violently because of the contact.
Su Tang felt somewhat helpless. She gently stroked him, lingering from his neck down to his collarbone. Her kisses drifted downward to the side of his neck, then his chest…
In the past, he would open up to her after a few kisses. But this time, no matter how she kissed or rubbed against him, Zhan Ye’s spiritual barrier remained as solid as ever.
“This won’t work.”
An Se retracted his excited gaze and looked down at the glowing red light on the monitor.
He couldn’t help but click his tongue.
“His body is getting tighter and tighter. If you keep this up, you’ll kiss him to death before he opens up to you.”
Su Tang stopped and looked up from Zhan Ye’s chest to An Se, her eyes full of anxiety.
“Then what should I do? Do you have a way to make him open up to me?”
She was truly out of ideas. This trick usually worked quite well; she didn’t know why it was useless now.
An Se’s gaze swept across Su Tang’s anxious face before lingering on Zhan Ye, trailing provocatively over the man’s body.
After a moment of silence, a smile suddenly tugged at his lips.
“Simple. Getting a Sentinel to open up to you through physiological relaxation is the fastest way. But right now, his muscles are in a state of high tension. Since simple kissing isn’t working, why don’t you try another method to make him really relax…?”
Su Tang froze, not quite understanding An Se’s meaning.
“How? Should I inject him with some muscle relaxants?”
“Muscle relaxants will affect the flow of his spiritual power. In his current state, the dosage is very hard to control.”
An Se shook his head at Su Tang, his gaze gradually fixing on Zhan Ye’s lower body.
“You might as well use the most primitive method.”
“What?”
“Hold it.”
