Rebirth in the Apocalypse: My Little Space farm Chapter 38

Chapter 38: So-called Cannon Fodder?

Just when everyone thought the girl was about to die at the zombies’ mouths, an electric current suddenly rose in the wind. Su Mo moved.

Her footsteps shifted lightly. She narrowed her eyes at the approaching claws, her right foot settling, seemingly stirring up a whirlwind. A deep blackish-purple electric current appeared around her entire leg, growing more intense and turbulent.

Just as the man’s hand was about to touch her, she suddenly raised her right foot. Su Mo’s entire aura changed instantly, all her abilities gathering at her foot. Her whole leg flashed with deep purple light waves, forming a dark sphere.

Bang! A burnt smell filled the air, a hurricane roared in their ears, and a lightning-covered figure traced an arc through the air before crashing heavily to the ground, raising a cloud of dust.

The man’s face was pitch black, his entire body coursing with electric current, causing his body to convulse continuously.

Everyone stared in shock at this scene. Before they could recover, several red-eyed zombies from the staircase suddenly lunged down, biting viciously at the man.

Painful sounds mixed with unwilling roars echoed through the air. The rotting stench accompanied by bloody smell made the zombies surging behind even more frenzied.

Blood splattered, continuous sounds of tearing, chewing, and swallowing filled the air. Su Mo’s face remained coldly merciless: she never showed mercy to traitors.

But when looking at those zombies, her eyes flashed with surprise. Those were…

Flying corpses?

Red eyes flashed with turbulence, black dirty veins bulged on their hands, their mouths showing sharp fangs.

Su Mo narrowed her eyes, looking carefully. She discovered the red in those pupils wasn’t pure—they weren’t flying corpses yet, but it seemed they were close.

The painful sounds disappeared. Within a few breaths, those zombies had divided up the corpse, wolfing it down hungrily, leaving only a pool of blood on the ground.

No one dared to stand dazed anymore. The low growls accompanied by frenzied howling approached. Fear flashed in the remaining people’s eyes. Someone couldn’t help but shout: “Let’s go…”

Everyone instinctively lifted their legs to run. Seeing this, Lu Chen didn’t hesitate either. When approaching Su Mo, his figure paused, his eyes flashing with tenderness, but his voice urgent: “Mo Mo, quickly go. There’s a big guy upstairs.”

Speaking, he seemed about to reach out and pull her along. Suddenly, bang! A gunshot rang out, followed by a fierce whistling sound from behind, carrying overwhelming momentum as it shot toward them.

Dodging, searing pain shot through his hand as blood slowly dripped onto the floor from his palm.

Turning with cold eyes, Lu Chen’s gaze turned icy. He looked at the man across from him—disheveled hair, raised sword-like eyebrows, lazy dark red eyes. His eyes flashed with shock, having never noticed this man’s aura before. His whole body became somewhat alert as he watched him.

Seeing him not speak, Shen Shaojie’s eyes fixed on that hideous wound, seeming to flash with regret. Then he looked up at Lu Chen across from him, his face devastatingly beautiful, lips curved in a smile, saying wickedly: “Sorry, my hand slipped.”

His leisurely voice spoke of apology, but his face showed no trace of embarrassment whatsoever.

His hands clenched into fists, blood dropping rapidly indicating the wound was expanding. His face gloomy, Lu Chen stared fixedly at Shen Shaojie, his dark eyes containing turbulent undercurrents.

Looking blankly at the tense atmosphere between the two, Su Mo saw Lu Chen’s wound and really couldn’t understand how this scumbag had provoked that demon. But seeing his frustrated look, not daring to explode, she felt: absolutely refreshing!

Just then, a howling sound suddenly rang in their ears, followed by several more howls. Those low roars rose high, like wolves and tigers, yet utterly horrifying.

Several people quickly turned around. The next scene made everyone’s eyes widen, pupils contracting rapidly.

Those red-eyed zombies suddenly stood up, each raising their heads to howl, their voices seeming to carry both pain and joyful celebration. Then their bodies began rapidly swelling, their wounds healing at visible speed, their red pupils deepening dramatically.

“Shit…” Su Mo almost jumped up, cursing loudly: “Kill them quickly! They’re evolving!”

“Don’t go!” Almost the instant her words fell, Lu Chen shouted in alarm, reaching out to grab her figure but not even touching her clothes.

Completely ignoring the voice in her ears, Su Mo’s mind was filled with images of zombies’ ferocity after evolution. In her previous life’s ten years of apocalypse, she’d seen all types of zombies, but among all zombies, only flying zombies were what she most dreaded.

Developed muscles, strong physique, agile speed—every aspect was troublesome. Even in later stages, successfully evolved high-level zombies were almost indistinguishable from normal people in intelligence and appearance.

Inevitably, Su Mo’s entire body surged with violent force. She couldn’t let them evolve successfully—she had to kill them.

With this thought, Su Mo quickly raised her abilities, attacking toward the evolving zombies.

Thunder accompanied by rapid airflow traced across the sky, striking directly at the zombies with crackling sounds.

The zombies, due to evolution, remained completely motionless. She thought she could hit them, but whether intentionally or not, all the zombies from the staircase suddenly approached, and what had been just a small distance away suddenly seemed to go crazy, lunging at her and protecting the evolving zombies behind them.

One strike landing, she didn’t hit the evolving zombies but only took out a few ordinary zombies.

Anger flashed in her eyes. Looking at the surging horde of zombies, Su Mo’s lips curved in a cold smile: “The nail that sticks out gets hammered down. Since you want to be cannon fodder, I’ll take your lives today!”

“Come on!” With that, Su Mo drew the butterfly knife from her waist, her entire being extremely excited as she dove headfirst into the zombie horde.
