Rebirth in the Apocalypse: My Little Space farm Chapter 44

Chapter 44: They’re Back?

There was no time to look back. Feeling the ground tremble beneath his feet and hearing the heart-stopping roar in his ears, Su Hao didn’t hesitate for a second. “Go!” he bellowed.

Peng Yu, who was still fighting, didn’t dare linger. He slapped away a zombie reaching for him and took off in a hundred-meter dash. As he ran, he wailed at the sky, “Oh, heavens! Oh, earth! I’m only seventeen, still practically a child! Please don’t let me get crushed! I’m a beautiful flower, the future of our nation! Mommy…!”

He leaped sideways as a massive boulder crashed right where he’d been standing. Instantly, Peng Yu ran even faster, screaming, “The apocalypse is too dangerous! I want to go back to Earth!”

The others’ mouths twitched at the sight.

The building was about to collapse, the tremors growing more frequent. Someone suddenly yelled, “Get down!”

The words were instantly swallowed by a deafening “BOOM!” The sound of the building collapsing, like an earthquake shaking a mountain, ripped through the sky. The rumble of falling rocks and the roars of zombies filled the air, and the smell of blood and dust choked them. A cold wind blew, and after a long moment, the dust finally settled.

A finger twitched. Feeling the silence around him, Meng Yong lifted his head, coughed a few times, and pushed himself up. Looking at his filthy clothes, his face contorted with anger. “This damn apocalypse.”

Just as he finished speaking, Gu Mo and Long Yi also got to their feet, dusting themselves off. Su Hao and Peng Yu climbed up a moment later.

“How are you guys? Are you okay?” Although they had met by chance on this mission, Gu Mo felt a sense of camaraderie forged in battle. He couldn’t help but ask with concern.

“I’m fine,” Su Hao said, shaking his head. He looked around, his gaze finally settling on Su Mo, who was running towards them. The coldness in his eyes softened.

Su Mo rushed over, with Shen Shaojie following closely behind her.

When Gu Mo and the others saw Shen Shaojie, they immediately walked over and bowed their heads respectfully. “Young Master.”

“How is it?” Shen Shaojie asked, raising an eyebrow at their battered appearance.

“Just some minor cuts, nothing serious,” Gu Mo said, lowering his head in shame.

“Good,” Shen Shaojie said, glancing over them before his eyes landed on Su Mo.

At this, the men’s eyes widened, and they felt like weeping. They swore this was the gentlest their Young Master had ever been with them. They all turned to look at the girl.

She was dressed in black, exuding a cold aura, yet her face was like that of an angel in the night, filled with a fatal allure. They had to admit, she was quite remarkable. But wasn’t she a bit too young? The image of an old cow grazing on tender grass couldn’t help but pop into their minds.

While they were lost in their thoughts, Su Mo had already reached her brother.

She looked him up and down, and seeing that he was unharmed despite his disheveled state, she breathed a sigh of relief. Still, she asked, “Brother, are you okay?”

“I’m fine.” Su Hao shook his head gently. He looked back at her, still worried. “What about you?”

“I’m okay,” Su Mo replied, shaking her head. She then glanced around him and frowned. “Where’s Peng Yu?”

“He was right here a second ago.” Su Hao paused, then looked around, his brow furrowed. “Over there.”

Following his gaze, they saw a figure squatting amidst the dark ruins, muttering something. Curious, Su Mo walked closer.

As she got near, her mouth twitched. She could hear him clearly now. “…I know you all died tragically, once and then twice again, but please don’t come for me. I may not have elders to care for or a wife and kids to feed, but I’m still a talented individual with all my faculties intact. So please, don’t come for me. After all, in a world that judges everything by looks, a talent like me who gets by on intelligence is a rare breed.”

With that, Peng Yu sighed dramatically. “Ah, what a wicked world! It’s always these vulgar humans that prevent talents like me from reaching our full potential. It’s truly a sad story.”

Shaking his head in mock sorrow, Peng Yu suddenly noticed a figure in the corner of his eye. “Huh? Mo Mo, what are you doing here?”

Her lips twitched speechlessly. After a moment, Su Mo’s face spasmed. “…You… carry on.”

Turning away, Su Mo’s mouth twitched again as she silently walked back to her brother.

Seeing her blank expression, Su Hao glanced over at Peng Yu, who was still squatting and muttering to himself. He couldn’t help but ask, “What is he doing?”

Su Mo looked at her brother, her lips twitching. After a pause, she said, “It’s nothing. Life is just full of pressure, and one needs an outlet.” She then looked up at the sky. “It truly is a sad story.”

“…” Su Hao was speechless.

The night grew colder, a chilling wind sweeping through as the dark clouds began to part, revealing a sliver of the full moon.

On the ruins, the group gathered to discuss where they would spend the night.

Suddenly, a piercing scream shattered the silence. “Su Mo, save meβ€”!”

The voice was filled with such panic it sounded on the verge of tears.

The group turned to look and saw several people running for their lives, pursued by dozens of zombies. The zombies roared, their cries filled with a ravenous hunger, as if enraged that their food was trying to escape.

Squinting at the approaching figures, a cold sneer formed on Su Mo’s lips, her eyes filled with indifference.

“Holy crap, isn’t that those little bastards?” Meng Yong yelled, practically jumping to his feet when he recognized them. He turned to the others, his voice full of hatred. “Nobody is allowed to save them! I’ll fight anyone who tries, damn it!”

No one said a word, but their eyes were all cold and merciless. Even the usually laid-back Peng Yu was glaring at them with fury.

It didn’t take a genius to figure it out. From their expressions, Su Mo knew that this group of cowards had likely used others as stepping stones to escape again.

A cold glint flashed in her eyes. Su Mo suddenly broke into a brilliant smile. “Didn’t you all just say you didn’t want to stay here any longer? What are you waiting for? Let’s go.”

“I second that,” Peng Yu immediately said, raising his hand.

Su Hao stood beside them silently, but the icy look he gave the approaching group was a clear sign of his agreement.

With that, they turned and walked towards their cars, leaving the other four behind.

Meng Yong glanced cautiously at his Young Master, holding his breath before he finally couldn’t help but say, “Young Master, uh, should we go too?”

Shen Shaojie raised an eyebrow at him. Seeing that Su Mo’s group was already about to get in their car, he looked at the fugitives running towards them. A charming smile spread across his face. “I wonder what would happen if we created a thousand-mile ice seal right here. I’m really looking forward to it.” With that, he turned around with a lazy air.

The other three instantly understood, their eyes lighting up with excitement. They turned to look at the approaching group with malicious smiles, a wicked glint in their eyes.
