Chapter 22: A Mystery of Identity
“You!” Zhang Yan clearly hadn’t expected Xiahou Qian to dismiss her so decisively. But no matter how much she said now, it was useless. She glanced at Chi Shaochen, only to find that he hadn’t looked at her from beginning to end. Ultimately, she could only stand up and stomp out of the meeting room in her high heels, as if venting her dissatisfaction.
“Does anyone else want to leave?” Xiahou Qian didn’t even look at the departing Zhang Yan, but merely watched the remaining people calmly.
Although no one spoke, they all sensibly shook their heads.
These people would stay either out of respect for Chi Shaochen or because of Qianchen’s benefits. Now, they were also somewhat looking forward to the performance of Xiahou Qian, the real boss. Up to this point today, they were still quite optimistic about Xiahou Qian. Moreover, with Chi Shaochen as Qianchen’s umbrella of protection, they felt Qianchen had a very bright future, so they all chose to stay.
“In that case, everyone start introducing yourselves. Just names and positions will do.” Originally, it should have been Chi Shaochen or the General Manager he found who introduced them to Xiahou Qian, but now that the plan was disrupted, Xiahou Qian simply had them do it themselves.
“Kong Ling, General Manager.” The one speaking was the man who had introduced Zhang Yan’s identity earlier. Xiahou Qian looked at him and said nothing, but in his heart, he was quite satisfied with this General Manager.
“Wan Zhicheng, Human Resources Manager.” Wan Zhicheng looked to be around 30, male, slightly chubby, with fair skin and a gentle face.
“Li Shanshan, Promotion Manager.” Li Shanshan was a young woman in her 20s. Xiahou Qian felt she looked quite pleasant; she had a professional office lady style and was the only woman remaining.
“Wen Qian, Planning Manager.” Wen Qian was a young and fashionable handsome guy, but that was only compared to ordinary people; compared to Xiahou Qian and Chi Shaochen, he was just an ordinary person.
“Xu Hua, Recording Manager.” Xu Hua looked to be the oldest person present, a middle-aged man in his 40s.
“Luo Ying, Finance Manager.” Luo Ying was also quite young, probably not yet 30, leaning toward thin, with the refined air of an ancient scholar.
At this point, everyone present had finished their introductions. This was undoubtedly a young team, but for the entertainment industry, it was indeed more suitable for young people. Xiahou Qian was also very satisfied with this. He sat down in his seat; although his posture was still a bit casual, everyone felt that the pressure he gave off was much less than when he was standing.
Xiahou Qian looked at the six future executives of Qianchen and stated his plans.
“In the future, Kong Ling will be fully responsible for the company’s affairs. Of course, this is on the premise of not violating my will. If there is a conflict with my will, naturally mine shall prevail. To the outside world, I am just an artist of Qianchen. As for how others spread rumors about me and the boss of Qianchen, or even about CEO Chi… I believe the Public Relations and Promotion departments aren’t just for show.” Xiahou Qian looked at Li Shanshan as he said this.
For a moment, Li Shanshan felt a mountain of pressure. Although she didn’t understand why such a young person could have this kind of aura, she had also climbed to this step based on her ability. She nodded seriously to Xiahou Qian and said, “President Xiahou, please rest assured. When the time comes, the Promotion department will produce the best plan at the fastest speed.”
“Formal work starts tomorrow. I will come over tomorrow morning to record songs; the Recording department should have everything arranged.” Xiahou Qian continued with his arrangements.
“No problem, but regarding the compositions… the company doesn’t seem to have relevant personnel at the moment.” Xu Hua couldn’t help but ask after hearing Xiahou Qian’s words. In principle, doing entertainment media definitely required a creative department or a copyright department, but Qianchen clearly had neither at the moment.
“I personally hold the copyrights to over two hundred songs. In the future, I will be personally responsible for this area as well. Unless Qianchen starts signing other artists in the future, we will not establish a related department or hire related talent.” Xiahou Qian felt that his own speed of writing songs was definitely enough for him to sing, not to mention he had so many works accumulated from before.
Xu Hua couldn’t help but show an expression of surprise, but he didn’t rashly flatter him. After all, he hadn’t seen those compositions yet, so he didn’t know their quality. He just couldn’t help but want to confirm one question. “The songs… were they all written by President Xiahou himself?”
“Is there a problem?” Xiahou Qian didn’t want to explain too much.
At this time, Chi Shaochen took the initiative to interject, saying, “When Manager Xu sees President Xiahou’s works, he will be very pleasantly surprised.” Although Chi Shaochen had only heard one of Xiahou Qian’s original songs, it was already enough for him to understand Xiahou Qian’s strength. Moreover, he knew Xiahou Qian was not the type of person to brag, though he was still very surprised that Xiahou Qian actually had copyrights to over two hundred songs.
“Since CEO Chi says so, I’m a bit impatient for tomorrow to arrive.” Xu Hua was a man of action, and his professional level was very high. He was just too honest, which was why he couldn’t get along in some companies where interpersonal relationships were too complex.
“Because the company only has me as an artist, Kong Ling will concurrently serve as my agent. In the future, if there’s anything, Kong Ling will communicate with me directly. I already have candidates for my assistant and Public Relations Manager; they will join tomorrow. Besides that, there’s a fresh graduate from the directing department; I plan to train him to become my future MV director. Manager Xu, arrange more learning opportunities for him.” Early MVs could be filmed by well-known MV directors in the industry.
“Alright,” Xu Hua answered.
“After the people arrive tomorrow, Wan Zhicheng, you directly help them handle the entry procedures.” Although Xiahou Qian wasn’t good at management, he could still arrange these simple matters well.
“No problem,” Wan Zhicheng stated.
“President Xiahou, most of the members of the Public Relations department were under Zhang Yan. Since Zhang Yan is leaving, I estimate her subordinates probably won’t come tomorrow either.” As the General Manager, Kong Ling naturally had a comprehensive understanding of the company members beforehand.
“It’s fine. The new manager will bring her own people with her.” Xiahou Qian previously felt that pulling Zhong Han from her original company only to continue as a deputy manager would be wronging her. Now that Zhang Yan was being tactless, it was the perfect time to make an example of her and vacate the position for Zhong Han. Zhong Han also had a group of subordinates who had long been dissatisfied with their original company; this was the perfect opportunity for Zhong Han to poach them all. After all, Qianchen’s benefits were better than there.
Kong Ling said nothing, but his eyebrows twitched slightly. He truly hadn’t expected Xiahou Qian to already have backup members. Zhang Yan had just left, and Xiahou Qian had already arranged the successor without even making a phone call. If anyone else had been as tactless as Zhang Yan just now, would they have received the same treatment?
Not only Kong Ling thought of this, but several people present did as well. In this short time, everyone had a new understanding of Xiahou Qian’s ability. They were very curious about Xiahou Qian’s identity and what his relationship with Chi Shaochen was.
“Also, regarding my debut plan, give me a piece of paper and a pen.”
After Xiahou Qian finished speaking, Kong Ling, who was closest to him, handed his paper and pen to Xiahou Qian. Xiahou Qian took the pen and scribbled a series of numbers on the paper, then tore off the sheet and handed it to Wen Qian.
Wen Qian curiously took the paper but only saw a mobile phone number. He couldn’t help but look at Xiahou Qian with doubt.
“This is the contact information for my fan club president. Contact him directly; he already has a first draft of my debut plan. Discuss it with him and perfect the plan. The Promotion and Public Relations departments can also add his contact info.”
“Alright.”
“Understood.”
Wen Qian and Li Shanshan replied. They felt that Xiahou Qian seemed to have many talents in his hands. If so, why did he need Chi Shaochen’s help to find the company personnel?
“However… my fan club president is a few years younger than me, but you must never look down on him. Setting aside his ability, his status alone makes him someone you cannot afford to offend.” Xiahou Qian already knew Zheng Wenxin’s impressive identity; Chi Shaochen had told him. Although Xiahou Qian had long heard Zheng Wenxin say his family was very rich, he hadn’t imagined his background was so powerful.
The people present felt a bit stifled. Another one they couldn’t afford to offend, and he was a minor!
So just who was their President Xiahou? The people he knew all seemed to be very extraordinary.
Why say that?
Just look at CEO Chi’s identity. Now, this fan club president was clearly another figure with a mysterious identity.
“That’s about it for today. In the future, if there’s anything, I will contact Kong Ling directly, and he will arrange it. If you have anything, find Kong Ling as well. I’m not responsible for management, so don’t bother me if there’s nothing. Unless Kong Ling does something detrimental to the company or my interests, do not bypass him to find me. Understood?”
Everyone nodded in unison.
Understood, naturally they understood. If they still didn’t understand after he said it so clearly, they might as well go home.
Thus, the first high-level meeting of Qianchen came to an end. From beginning to end, Chi Shaochen had almost no use other than acting as a background character. However, he was happy to cooperate. It was naturally better for Xiahou Qian to use his own ability and courage to awe and win over these people than to rely on him—though he didn’t mind at all and was even very happy to support Xiahou Qian.
After leaving Qianchen and getting into Chi Shaochen’s car, Xiahou Qian logged into the fan club management group with his phone. He notified Wen Xiao, Qiao Mu, and Zhong Han to go to Qianchen at 8:30 tomorrow morning to handle the entry procedures. At the same time, he told Zheng Wenxin that someone from Qianchen would contact him later.
Originally, Xiahou Qian had planned to sign a tripartite agreement with Zheng Wenxin, but now that Qianchen was under his own name, the signing could be handled as long as he and Zheng Wenxin were present. He wasn’t in a hurry; they could sign the next time Zheng Wenxin came over.
Just as Xiahou Qian finished sending the message, Chi Shaochen’s phone rang.
“Just left the company… You’ve all arrived? … Alright.”
Chi Shaochen finished the call in a few words, then turned to ask Xiahou Qian, “They’ve all arrived. Should we go back and change clothes before heading over?”
Xiahou Qian remembered again that he was going to meet Chi Shaochen’s friends. His mood, which had slightly improved after venting at the company, collapsed again. Even though he didn’t want to show any attitude to Chi Shaochen, Chi Shaochen could clearly perceive Xiahou Qian’s mood turning sour in an instant. He truly didn’t understand why Xiahou Qian was so resistant to meeting his friends.
“If you’re not changing, let’s just go over directly.” Anyway, he didn’t have the slightest mood to change clothes.
“Then let’s just go over directly.” Knowing Xiahou Qian was in a bad mood, and that the reason was because of him, Chi Shaochen completely went along with Xiahou Qian’s wishes.
