Chapter 32: Escape
Shen Yanzhou didn’t answer. Instead, he irritably pulled out a cigarette and held it between his lips. Tilting his head slightly, he lit it.
The bright red ember flickered, casting a slightly gloomy shadow over his handsome face.
Yu Yi’an stared at the Patek Philippe “Golden Ellipse” lighter in the man’s hand, his mouth curving upward.
“Shu, the lighter I gave you—is it easy to use?”
Shen Yanzhou glanced at his fingertips and casually placed the lighter on the sofa.
“Yu Yi’an, did you go to my house to see Lin Yuan today?”
Yu Yi’an impaled the apple on the tip of the knife and held it out. “Mhm.”
Shen Yanzhou waved it away. “I’m not eating.”
A look of disappointment appeared on Yu Yi’an’s small face.
He withdrew his hand, still holding the apple with the knife tip, and brought it to his own mouth for a bite.
Shen Yanzhou stared at him coldly and said again, “Lin Yuan said you threatened him?”
Yu Yi’an tilted his head slightly, looking at Shen Yanzhou.
Then he frowned. “How is that possible! I didn’t; he’s talking nonsense!”
He understood that Shen Yanzhou was testing him.
Because through their brief contact, he felt that Lin Yuan was a smart person.
Therefore, at this time, Lin Yuan would certainly not say such things and draw Shen Yanzhou’s fire toward him.
“Shu, I just went over to see who it was that snatched you away from me!” Yu Yi’an’s tone was tinged with melancholy.
Shen Yanzhou took a deep drag of his cigarette.
He exhaled slowly.
His tone softened slightly.
“Young Master, I made it very clear to you yesterday.”
“My feelings for you are those of an elder for a junior. Nothing more.”
“You are an adult now; I hope you can grasp the proper boundaries.”
Yu Yi’an coughed from the surrounding smoke.
“Shu, smoke less; it’s bad for your health.”
Shen Yanzhou: “Don’t change the subject! Remember exactly what I’ve said.”
Yu Yi’an lowered his eyes slightly. “Do you really like him that much?”
Shen Yanzhou pursed his lips.
He nodded. “Mhm, I like him!”
Yu Yi’an’s brow furrowed as he stared into the man’s eyes with extreme seriousness. “But does he like you too?”
Shen Yanzhou’s lip line tightened, and his expression became unnatural as he took another deep drag.
He exhaled again.
“He’ll like me sooner or later! You don’t need to worry about it!”
Yu Yi’an gave a dry laugh.
“Sooner or later? Shu, you don’t seem very confident!”
Shen Yanzhou crushed the cigarette out in his palm with a fierce twist, a ruthless look appearing in his eyes. “Yu Yi’an, my business is none of your concern!”
Yu Yi’an’s eyes froze, and the corners of his eyes turned slightly red. “Shu, you’re yelling at me? You’re actually yelling at me for him?”
In his memory, from childhood to adulthood, no matter how big a mistake he made, Shen Yanzhou might scold him or threaten him, but he had never snapped at him with such sinister anger.
At this moment, he understood that the man he loved most had truly changed!
And it was all because of that bane!
He smiled, his eyes red and the corners of his mouth curved up.
“Alright, I’ll listen to you.” He spoke softly.
“Shu, I’m tired. I’m going to my room to rest.”
With that, he slowly stood up.
He looked at Shen Yanzhou once more and whispered, “I’m sorry, Shu.”
Then he walked straight up the stairs.
Shen Yanzhou half-squinted his eyes, watching him disappear at the end of the stairs.
Only then did he get up and leave.
—
Over the next two days, Lin Yuan was obedient and well-behaved every day.
He didn’t throw any stubborn fits or go against Shen Yanzhou.
Shen Yanzhou felt that life was almost too good to be true.
Every night, just holding that fragrant, soft little body and sleeping peacefully was enough to satisfy him.
He looked at the date—it was about time. The old wounds and new marks on the boy had all healed.
He planned that tomorrow night, he would love him properly while teaching him a few things he didn’t know yet.
On the morning of the third day, Lin Yuan woke up very early.
He saw Shen Yanzhou out the door, even offering a slight smile as he said, “Ge, goodbye.”
As he watched Shen Yanzhou’s luxury car vanish from sight, the smile on Lin Yuan’s face disappeared.
He turned and went back inside.
He went upstairs to his own room.
At nine o’clock in the morning, there was a commotion downstairs.
Lin Yuan’s heart tightened as his tension rose.
He hurried to the top of the stairs and looked down.
Yu Yi’an had arrived.
However, he was blocked by Uncle Chen at the door.
“Uh, Young Master Yu, your Uncle instructed that Mr. Lin hasn’t been feeling well lately and cannot receive guests. Why don’t you come back another day?”
Yu Yi’an bit his lip.
As expected.
After his visit the last time, he had anticipated that Shen Yanzhou would pull a move like this.
Yu Yi’an acted confused. “Uncle Chen, it was my Uncle who called and told me to pick up Lin Yuan and bring him to his company!”
Uncle Chen: “Ah?”
Just then, his phone rang.
Uncle Chen glanced at it—it was Shen Yanzhou calling.
He quickly answered.
“Master!”
Shen Yanzhou’s voice came from the other end: “Uncle Chen, I’ve asked Yu Yi’an to pick up Lin Yuan and bring him to my office.”
Although Uncle Chen didn’t understand why his Master’s attitude toward Yu Yi’an had taken such a sharp turn again, he didn’t question it.
After all, the relationship between Yu Yi’an and Shen Yanzhou was right there.
“Understood.”
Uncle Chen hung up and spoke to Yu Yi’an with a smile. “Young Master Yu, you can go up then. Mr. Lin is in his room, the one to the right of the study.”
Yu Yi’an nodded with a polite smile. “Thank you for the trouble.”
With that, he turned and strode upstairs.
Entering Lin Yuan’s room, Yu Yi’an closed the door tightly behind him.
“Young Master Yu, thank you for coming on time.” Although Lin Yuan tried to suppress it, his voice still sounded a bit urgent.
“Is everything ready?”
During their meeting three days ago, Lin Yuan, while being grabbed by the neck, had whispered one sentence to Yu Yi’an.
“I want to leave Shen Yanzhou, forever! If you have a way to help me escape, he’s still yours!”
Just as he had envisioned, Yu Yi’an agreed.
After all, as things stood, Yu Yi’an could only hope to squeeze into Shen Yanzhou’s world if Lin Yuan vanished from it.
During these two days of anxious and agonizing waiting, Lin Yuan had done his best to act obedient and charming to avoid provoking Shen Yanzhou.
All for today—to use Yu Yi’an’s methods to escape!
Yu Yi’an stared at Lin Yuan’s beautiful face and curled his lips. “You don’t know me well enough. I’ve always been thorough in my work.”
His refined face held a look of maturity and gravity that didn’t quite match his age.
During these two days, he had arranged every step perfectly.
Lin Yuan nodded slightly, a look of gratitude in his eyes. “Thank you!”
Yu Yi’an huffed a laugh and waved his hand. “I’m not doing it for you.”
Lin Yuan pursed his lips. “Regardless, you are helping me. So you deserve a ‘thank you.’”
Yu Yi’an said no more and pulled a new phone out of his bag.
“Throw yours away and use this.”
Seeing the boy’s confusion, Yu Yi’an shook his head. “Truly stupid. My Uncle could track your location in a minute with that other phone.”
Lin Yuan finally understood and stuffed the new phone into his pocket.
He left the phone Shen Yanzhou had given him on the table, along with that bank card containing five million.
Yu Yi’an: “I’ve already made arrangements to send you to a small southern city to hide for a while. Once my Uncle’s obsession fades, you can quietly return.”
“With a man like him, he’s never short of partners. It won’t be long before he completely forgets about you!”
Lin Yuan’s eyes dimmed imperceptibly, then he nodded. “Alright!”
“This is your new ID card. Even the national network won’t be able to detect it’s fake.” As Yu Yi’an spoke, he handed over a brand-new ID.
Lin Yuan took it and asked again, “How did you trick Uncle Chen just now?”
Yu Yi’an acted nonchalant. “Just a backdoor in the mobile network, a virtual phone number, AI voice sampling, and automated editing.”
He spoke as if it were as simple as breathing.
Lin Yuan didn’t know that Yu Yi’an was an expert hacker.
High-tech modern methods and internet bugs were things Yu Yi’an played with with total mastery.
He had collected Shen Yanzhou’s voice and edited it into a voice clip. Then, he used a backdoor in the telecommunications network to call Uncle Chen using a virtual number.
“Alright, let’s go!”
Yu Yi’an spoke and headed for the door.
Lin Yuan took a deep, deep breath.
He followed behind him and went downstairs.
At the entrance to the main hall, he turned back one last time to look at the luxury cage that had imprisoned him.
Then, he strode away.
