Sentinel & Guide: From Pariah to Heartthrob Chapter 10

Chapter 10: He Treats Her Differently

Chi Wan’s will to survive became incredibly strong at this moment.

This was her world.

Even if everything had been stolen, she could start over. There were still more than a hundred days before Ji Ke arrived.

If she worked hard to increase her Combat Value and whitewash the hatred the male leads held for her during this period, she could at least survive.

Even without the identity of the Chi family heiress or the luck of a heroine.

She, Chi Wan, wanted to live a good life.

A strong will to survive surged like a fountain of life.

She struggled, wanting to wake up.

“Three tubes of antidote have already been injected. We can’t inject any more.”

It was Hei Mi’s voice.

“It’s been two days. When will she wake up? She’s really dragging down everyone’s progress.”

The cold, arrogant voice was deep and domineering, currently tinged with impatience. It was Cang Lin.

“Mining Cave 031 has been marked and sealed according to schedule these past two days. Logically speaking, she hasn’t delayed any progress.”

“Truly rare, Qi Ye, that you would actually speak up for her.”

“It is a fact.”

The conversation came through the wall.

When Chi Wan opened her eyes, she saw a rusty, abandoned ceiling.

She sat up, only to find her body incredibly sore and weak. The toxin had probably not been completely cleared yet.

“Guide Chi Wan is awake.”

Following Hei Mi’s announcement, the people outside the door all looked in.

The towering bodies of the Sentinels exerted strong pressure, and the backlighting increased the intensity. Added to that was the presence of Cang Lin, who terrified her.

Chi Wan frowned, her hand gripping the edge of the quilt tightly.

Knowing she was afraid of him, Cang Lin scoffed and walked away.

His subordinates followed closely behind him.

Only Hei Mi and Qi Ye remained. Receiving a signal from his superior’s eyes, Hei Mi left immediately.

Qi Ye walked slowly toward Chi Wan and closed the door.

“The situation has changed. A large number of high-level pollution entities have been discovered in District 06. We need to go there with A1 Base to provide support. Your body…”

As he spoke, his gaze swept over her pale little face.

“I can do it. I’m much better.”

Not wanting to delay everyone’s time, Chi Wan squeezed out a smile.

“If you are unwell, we can delay departure by one day.”

“I really can do it.”

To prove herself, Chi Wan stood up abruptly.

Unexpectedly, a wave of intense dizziness hit her. She lost her balance and was about to fall.

Her waist was caught by a large hand. His slightly cool skin firmly supported her soft waist, but the force supporting her was direct, pulling her straight into his arms.

Chi Wan fell into his embrace unexpectedly, her nose filled with his cold, astringent snake scent.

The posture looked exactly like she was throwing herself at him. Chi Wan’s face flushed red, her hands pressing against his chest, trying hard to put distance between them.

She looked up at him in panic, meeting a pair of green eyes where light and shadow intertwined.

Those eyes were lowered indifferently, revealing no emotion at all.

“Guide Chi Wan, this is…?”

He spoke slowly, raising an eyebrow slightly. His usually cold eyes seemed puzzled.

Wrongly accused, Chi Wan wanted to cry. It was clearly his force that pulled her over, yet he made it seem like she was so overcome with lust that she pounced on him.

She stammered, trying to stand up:

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to…”

But the next second, as the large hand withdrew from her waist, she lost support and pitched forward into his arms again.

Her small face smashed into his pectoral muscles, making her wince in pain.

This time, he scooped her up completely.

He held her with one arm, his eyelids lowering lazily to look at the medicine case and supplies on the table. He lifted them easily with his other hand, his languid tone carrying a hint of raspiness:

“Considering your body hasn’t fully recovered yet, I won’t hold it against you this time.”

With that, he walked out.

Being held like this made her feel ashamed. She buried her head in the hollow of his shoulder, letting her thick hair hide her blushing face. The strands scattered in the crook of his neck, tickling his heart slightly.

Outside the building, the convoys of both bases were ready.

Receiving Qi Ye’s departure signal, Cang Lin strolled out and saw the scene, his eyes filling with amusement.

“A mysophobic snake holding a Guide. Truly a rare sight.”

Qi Ye only replied coldly, “You are very noisy.”

Hearing Cang Lin’s remark, Chi Wan realized with a start that Qi Ye was a germophobe!

He had even told her to stay three meters away.

For a moment, she looked at his profile with fear. From her angle, his distinct eyelashes were clearly visible, and the shape of his long, narrow eyes was sharp. He was extremely good-looking, but he also gave off a dangerous feeling.

Although he walked quickly, his steps were very steady. From the inside out, he really resembled a snake.

However, Chi Wan didn’t know how obvious her staring was.

Even in his peripheral vision, her large eyes couldn’t hide their focus and seriousness, causing inexplicable ripples in the heart of Qi Ye, who was holding her.

The feeling of being watched by her like this… wasn’t bad.

After entering the passenger cabin, Chi Wan was set down.

Almost as soon as her feet touched the floor, she sat at the other end of the cabin, maintaining a distance of three meters from him.

Seeing her avoid him like he was a viper, his hand paused slightly. His gaze swept over Chi Wan, who was curled up in the corner like a kitten, but in the end, he said nothing.

“This vehicle is so empty?”

Cang Lin hopped up without a second thought.

Their A1 Base vehicles were packed full. Squeezing in with that bunch of Sentinels was truly crowded.

Sentinels were extremely tall and had to hunch over in the cabin. His gaze swept over the two people sitting eight hundred meters apart, and he finally took a seat right in the middle of them.

Seeing Cang Lin board, Chi Wan instinctively felt resistance.

She scooted back until her entire body was practically pressed against the cabin wall.

“What did you do to make her so afraid?”

As the vehicle began to move, Qi Ye’s voice rang out abruptly.

“Me?”

Cang Lin, sitting sprawled against the wall, glanced at Chi Wan with his golden eyes, then smiled casually.

“I just forced Guide Chi Wan to soothe me once. I didn’t expect Guide Chi Wan to be the type who yields to force but not to persuasion. She’s certainly changed her previously nasty attitude toward me.”

“Forced. Soothing?”

Qi Ye enunciated each word, his green eyes turning a few degrees colder as they swept over Chi Wan’s tightly pursed lips.

With just one look, he read everything that happened that day.

The air pressure around him instantly dropped, and his voice became even gloomier:

“Forcibly entering her Mental Landscape when her body was extremely weak—is this something a Sentinel should do to a Guide?”

The smile on Cang Lin’s lips vanished.

He lowered his eyes, his fingers tapping rhythmically on his leg.

He admitted he was wrong in that matter.

But since it was Chi Wan, he felt no guilt.

“Regarding her, I only feel I was still too gentle at the time.”
