Chapter 15: He Hates Her
“I always thought that was an auditory hallucination.”
His voice was masked by the noise of massive amounts of purifier being sprayed behind him.
Chi Wan couldn’t hear clearly. She leaned her confused little face closer, looking at him with earnest eyes.
“What?”
As she got closer, her Mental Power mixed with her scent lingered at the tip of his nose.
The Mental Power he had felt while trapped in the painful memory—that radiant force that broke through the haze like salvation.
It was her Mental Power.
Now, in his heart, it held a different meaning.
He throbbed for it.
Binding Heat was faintly stirring.
For the first time in his life, he had easily triggered Binding Heat simply because of a Guide’s innocent proximity.
His green eyes darkened slightly. He stopped looking at her overly beautiful eyes, lowering his eyelids to hide all his thoughts, and calmly put distance between them.
In Chi Wan’s eyes, however, this behavior seemed like his germophobia acting up, resisting her closeness.
She pursed her lips and sensibly moved away to do her own thing.
“Let’s see what category the crystal is.”
Cang Lin brushed past Qi Ye, blocking his line of sight.
He punched open the high-level pollution entity’s skull and fished a green crystal out of the gray-green brain matter. Observing it with sharp golden eyes for two seconds, he stated with certainty:
“Level 7 Mid-grade Crystal, with Ability Factor.”
Ability Factors had a probability of being refined into Ability Awakening Orbs corresponding to the ability. They were extremely precious. They had to be handed over to the Federation for refinement, and bases could then redeem the desired Ability Awakening Orb based on their merit points.
However, the success rate of refinement was extremely low; there were only four successful cases in the entire galaxy. The merit points required for redemption were also exorbitantly high; currently, no base could afford it.
“I’ll report to the Federation.”
Just as Li Su finished speaking, his optical computer beeped with a call.
He quickly clicked it open, and a Sentinel’s urgent voice came through:
“Commander Li, the convoy is under attack by a large number of pollution entities, at least several hundred! Among them is a high-level Space-Attribute pollution entity; it has taken all our vehicles away!”
Hearing this, everyone’s expressions changed.
“A Space-Attribute pollution entity?!”
Space-Attribute pollution entities had appeared only once in recent decades, and their Ability Factor had never been successfully refined.
Its value went without saying.
“Sync the location marker. We’ll get there as fast as possible.”
After speaking, Li Su looked at everyone.
“Wrap this up quickly. Prepare to pursue the Space-Attribute pollution entity.”
“Yes!”
The Sentinels sped up the elimination of the pollution source.
The three Commanders, as usual, began the operation summary.
To ensure fairness, after every pollution source elimination, the participating Commanders had to upload the names of the ten people with the highest contribution, excluding those from their own base, ranked from high to low.
This action summary would directly affect the total contribution points of each base and individual in this A-73 operation.
If only one base was in the operation team, all contribution points would go to that base.
Future resource distribution on Planet A-73 would prioritize those individuals and bases with high contribution points.
This was the main reason these male leads were willing to participate in such high-risk operations.
After all, resources were important capital for survival in this galaxy.
Without a second thought, Qi Ye filled in Chi Wan’s name in the first-place spot.
Chi Wan, who was busy working, received the notification on her optical computer immediately.
She opened it and found that her contribution points had actually risen!
Although she had only moved up a few thousand places from the very bottom, it was no longer a pitiful zero!
Delighted, she turned to look behind the bustling crowd.
Intuition told her it was him.
Qi Ye was leaning there, talking to Cang Lin and the others.
His posture was distinguished, his bearing noble; almost every strand of hair was clean and exquisite.
If not for that hallucinogenic fog, Chi Wan would never have believed that such a clean and noble person had struggled for three years in a place as filthy as that dungeon.
And likely far longer than three years.
The next second, Chi Wan saw Cang Lin, who was facing Qi Ye, glance sideways at her.
Their eyes met, and Chi Wan’s first reaction was repulsion!
She turned her head back to continue her work, showing the back of her head to him with stubbornness and disdain.
Cang Lin exhaled heavily, his brow furrowing slightly.
When trapped in the hallucinogenic fog, he had indeed felt that it was her Mental Power that helped them break the trap of the illusion.
Although he detested her character in many ways, this time, she indeed deserved the most credit.
Withdrawing his gaze, he spoke in a low tone:
“You’re right. One thing is one thing. She does deserve first place this time.”
Qi Ye turned his gaze to Li Su.
The latter’s chiseled face was somewhat cold. As if recalling something, his tone was heavy and hard:
“Impossible.”
With that, he turned away to join the cleanup.
Cang Lin was used to this, but seeing the thoughtful look in Qi Ye’s eyes, he remembered that Qi Ye hadn’t participated in that operation.
While looking down to continue filling out the form on his optical computer, he whispered an explanation:
“In the operation three days ago, Chi Wan refused to save the dying because she hadn’t constructed a mental barrier, causing the death of three of Li Su’s subordinates.”
“Coming from a military family, Li Su values the lives of his subordinates most and detests those who abandon their comrades on the battlefield.”
“Chi Wan has pretty much stepped on every landmine possible.”
After speaking, he looked up at Qi Ye, his words laced with sarcasm:
“Qi Ye, did she give you a love potion? Your opinion of her changed so quickly.”
Qi Ye remained lazy, leaning against the wall, his gaze sweeping over Chi Wan behind the crowd.
“I don’t need you to remind a Mind Reader.”
“Tsk, I forgot you have Mind Reading. Then the Great Commander Qi must have read that she has some unspeakable difficulties, forcing her to humiliate and cause the deaths of innocent Sentinels and do those utterly atrocious things, right?”
Cang Lin scoffed as he spoke.
A sudden chill around him made him look at Qi Ye again.
Those green eyes were already extremely cold. The Mental Entity above his head loomed faintly due to his displeasure. The Silver Python formed by the Mental Entity had vertical pupils that sent shivers down one’s spine.
But Cang Lin had never been afraid of anything. He merely smiled faintly.
“If you want to protect her, I have no objection. But if she causes anyone else’s death in the future, I will be the first not to spare her.”
