Chapter 19: Don’t Be a Bastard
“It seems Commander Pei has a new idea,” Shen Yu looked at Pei Yuan with interest.
“I wouldn’t call it an idea. It’s just that Guides dying accidentally during missions is a common occurrence in the base.”
With a single sentence, the expressions of the other five people in the room varied instantly.
Pei Yuan stood up slowly. The overhead light made his already bloodless face look even paler. The shadows cast by his high brow bone perfectly concealed his dark gray eyes.
His voice was clear and pleasant, his tone as calm and collected as always.
“Now that she is comatose and has lost her right to speak…”
Under the varying gazes of the five men, the corners of his mouth hooked up slightly.
“If she dies just like this, the Federation and the Chi family won’t have any evidence even if they want to hold someone accountable.”
Mission death. How to hold accountable?
Whom to hold accountable?
“You mean…”
Shen Yu’s expression grew a few degrees graver.
Concerning a human life, this wasn’t a small matter.
Although he detested Chi Wan, he had never thought of killing her.
“No.”
Li Su suddenly spoke up.
He looked at Pei Yuan. “If you want to kill her, that’s your business. I won’t interfere. But this time, no.”
Cang Lin understood perfectly why he wanted to protect Chi Wan this time.
He shook his head, sat aside drinking water and reading a report, too lazy to participate in a conversation that was meaningless to him.
But the others didn’t understand.
Yun Qi put down the Space Crystal. Under his cloud-blue messy hair, his clear, azure eyes looked at Li Su.
“Why not this time?”
Li Su didn’t answer, only looking at everyone.
“Are we still having the meeting?”
…
Medical Room.
Inside the precision treatment instrument, the silver-haired Chi Wan lay quietly. Her small face was illuminated by blue light, her closed eyes showing no sign of life.
“Commander Qi Ye, this is Guide Chi Wan’s test information.”
The medic handed Qi Ye an electronic display screen.
The screen showed all her physical data.
“First, blood deficiency, then excessive shock, plus poisoning…”
“The most fatal was that heavy blow from the pollution entity. Multiple internal organs were damaged. Although we have the galaxy’s top Life Light Source Healing Device that can penetratively heal those damaged organs, she still needs to rest well for a period of time.”
As the medic spoke, he looked at the screen with a troubled expression.
“Guide Chi Wan’s Mental Power… is a bit abnormal.”
Qi Ye looked at him. “Abnormal how?”
“Although the test results don’t show major problems, the strange thing is that her Mental Power and her body seem somewhat mismatched.”
The medic frowned tightly as he spoke, rubbing his chin in deep thought.
“There has never been such a case in the entire galaxy, so we’re unsure for now.”
“Or perhaps, it’s just that she suffered too much shock, causing severe fluctuations in her Mental Power. After all, Guide Chi Wan is a rare Guide in the galaxy who has no Mental Entity.”
Beepābeepābeepā
The instrument emitted a faint sound. Immediately after, Chi Wan was pushed out from inside the machine. Several medics immediately surrounded her.
The lead medic reached out directly toward her medical gown.
“What are you doing?”
Qi Ye’s voice deepened imperceptibly.
The medics froze, turning to look at the Commander one by one.
“Reporting to the Commander… the instrument treatment is complete. We are now preparing to apply medicine to Guide Chi Wan.”
Qi Ye’s gaze swept over the ointment in their hands, and he pinched the bridge of his nose helplessly.
“Is there no female medic? Or, like before, call a female Guide to help.”
The medic beside him looked troubled.
“Sentinels returning from missions all urgently need Guide soothing. Guides are scarce to begin with, and now none can get away…”
He walked toward the medics and took the ointment from their hands.
“I’ll do it.”
Then he glanced faintly toward the door.
“Thank you for your hard work. You may go rest first.”
Although they didn’t know why the usually unapproachable Commander was suddenly so attentive to Guide Chi Wan, the medics walked out obediently.
All treatment procedures were finished. This final ointment, used to assist healing and prevent scarring, could be applied by anyone.
Qi Ye pulled over a white chair and sat by the bed, applying medicine to Chi Wan with utter seriousness.
The medicinal crystals in the white jar were as transparent as water. He scooped up a bit and applied it gently to her forearm.
The wounds healed by the instrument had recovered somewhat. On her fair skin, flesh-pink wounds faintly showed bloody scratches.
As the pads of his fingers glided over the wounds, his movements were gentle to the extreme.
After applying medicine to the arm wounds, it was time for the waist and abdomen.
Pushing aside the medical gown, a fair waist that could be grasped with one hand appeared in his sight.
Qi Ye’s eyes flickered slightly, and he continued to apply medicine without changing his expression.
His movements remained gentle, but now that gentleness seemed to carry a hint of restraint and barely maintained calm.
He took a deep breath and looked away slightly.
His raspy voice carried an indescribable emotion:
“Qi Ye, don’t be a bastard.”
Chapter 20: That’s Not Impossible Either
When Chi Wan woke up, a medic was recording data outside the medical room.
Seeing her wake up, the medic looked pleasantly surprised.
“That’s great! Guide Chi Wan, you’re finally awake. I’ll go notify Commander Qi!”
He ran out as he spoke.
Before Chi Wan could ask anything, he had disappeared without a trace.
Why call Qi Ye…
She propped herself up on her arms and sat up, only to find that all the external injuries on her body had healed completely, without even a scar.
Though her body still felt somewhat uncomfortable.
[Host, your Mental Power and energy values are fluctuating severely.]
Hearing the System’s words, Chi Wan looked at her hands in confusion.
The energy waves in her palms weren’t clearly visible to the naked eye, only a faint layer of white light.
“Guide Chi Wan, you’re finally awake.”
Hei Mi poked his head out from behind the ward door. Standing over 1.9 meters tall, his usually stern face now squeezed out a rather incongruous smile.
The next second, he wiped the smile off his face and stood up straight with a solemn expression.
Just standing there, he looked like a soldier.
In front of him, Qi Ye walked in.
Under his gray hair, his long, narrow, sharp eyes naturally carried a chill, but the moment he stepped into the ward, they locked precisely onto her.
Even the depths of his eyes warmed imperceptibly.
“Is there anywhere uncomfortable?”
Chi Wan was still a bit dazed. Just as she was about to ask him how many days she had been in a coma, Hei Mi spoke rapidly:
“Of course she recovered well. For the past five days, our Commander has been here every day…”
Qi Ye: “Hei Mi.”
Hei Mi shut his mouth immediately, touched his nose, and continued standing guard.
Chi Wan got curious. Just as she wanted to ask “every day what,” she acutely sensed the chaos in Qi Ye’s Mental Power.
This chaos was caused by extreme suppression of mental mania.
She asked tentatively, “Do you need soothing?”
Hei Mi walked out very sensibly and closed the door.
With the door closed, the light in the room dimmed further, leaving only two blue medical lamps.
They reflected a beautiful cyan sheen in Qi Ye’s green eyes.
Seeing his emotionless appearance, Chi Wan thought he was unwilling.
“How about I extract some pheromones for you…”
“I need it.”
“Huh?”
“I said, I need soothing, Guide Chi Wan.”
He spoke leisurely, his eyes locked tightly on her, and actually took two steps closer.
Almost pressing against the edge of the bed.
Chi Wan couldn’t help but scoot back.
His gaze made her inexplicably nervous.
Swallowing hard, Chi Wan forced herself to remain calm and began mobilizing her Mental Power.
But Qi Ye’s expression showed slight dissatisfaction.
“Only False Soothing?”
“Huh?”
Chi Wan looked at him blankly.
In the original host’s memory, the first time she tried to soothe Qi Ye, his Mental Entity manifested almost as a stress response. The thick snake tail nearly flung the original host away, and he had fiercely warned her not to touch him.
So… did she hear wrong?
Then, in the next second, Chi Wan was sure she hadn’t heard wrong.
The man before herātwo meters tall, broad-shouldered and narrow-waisted, with a cold temperament and top-tier looksābegan to… take off his jacket.
Chi Wan sat on the bed in a daze, watching him take off his tight combat uniform, revealing the army green tank top underneath.
The thin tank top couldn’t hide anything. Qi Ye’s muscle texture was tight, every muscle shape looking as beautiful as a sculpture.
Chi Wan looked away, nervousness making her babble to fill the silence.
“While I was in a coma, what did you… do every day?”
“Applied medicine to you.”
“!!!”
The blush on Chi Wan’s ears quickly spread to her cheeks.
She looked at Qi Ye, not daring to ask where he applied it. She could only watch helplessly as he leaned in close.
The shadow cast by the light on him enveloped her, along with his scent.
“Anywhere on my body is fine.”
He looked at her, his raspy voice sexy and seductive.
“Guide Chi Wan.”
Chi Wan shivered and tried to flee in panic.
In her desperation, she kicked him, trying to put distance between them.
Qi Ye’s gaze swept over the fair, pink-tinged little foot, and he straightened up.
“Using your foot… that’s not impossible either.”
Chi Wan’s face turned red as a cooked crab. She hurriedly retracted her foot and burrowed completely under the covers.
If there weren’t no cracks in the floor here, she probably would have crawled into one.
Seeing her reaction, Qi Ye suddenly understood something.
She had actually wanted to kick him.
Looking at Chi Wan hiding under the blanket like a turtle withdrawing its head, he waited leisurely.
A smile rippled in his eyes.
He really hadn’t expected her to be so innocent.
