Chapter 26: Amidst Ten Thousand Specters, She Came Like Light
The scene of one man holding back ten thousand Specters was too magnificent and shocking.
Chi Wan watched intently.
Was this the strength of a male lead?
In a “dual strong” novel, every protagonist was an absolute king of power when singled out.
Thinking of this, Chi Wan felt a bit forlorn.
All of this had nothing to do with her now. She was just a malicious supporting female character, a product of mechanical life, trying to find a way to whitewash herself, reduce the hatred in the male leads’ hearts, and live a good life.
But she had always been optimistic. In just a second, she adjusted her mindset.
So what if she was a supporting character?
So what if her ability was low?
Small supporting roles had their own wonderful lives too.
She turned around, ready to go help. But in the next second, the ground began to tremble violently.
The thick crust of the earth was actually being uprooted!
The earth overturned high-rise buildings, toppled high walls and structures, and the entire ground shook violently.
The crowd fled backward in shock and panic.
“Run! Everyone run!”
Amidst the screams, Chi Wan, who had been thrown to the ground, quickly scrambled up. She watched as the expanding fissures tore wider and wider, and then, massive, black, viscous monsters drilled out from underground.
This massive monster wasn’t a single pollution entity, but a conglomeration of thousands upon thousands of them!
“What is that thing!?”
“I’ve never seen it before. It’s like a monster!”
The Sentinels prioritized evacuating the ordinary people. Before they could catch their breath, the massive monster shook off a groundful of black, viscous pollution entities!
These entities began to frantically attack the crowd!
Bang bang bangâ!
Bang bang bangâ!
The Sentinels held their firearms, firing while retreating.
Many pollution entities possessed the ability to launch aerial raids, and instantly, chaos erupted within the Sentinel group.
Chi Wan’s Mental Entity leaped among the crowd, her powerful mental barrier escorting these Sentinels.
Light armored vehicles and small spaceships all rolled out, carrying batch after batch of members.
Amidst the chaos, Chi Wan saw Shen Yu in the distance.
Those massive amounts of black, viscous pollution entities, restricted by the barrier, turned around and headed toward him.
Even as an SSS-rank top interstellar Sentinel, facing so many Specters was already his combat limit. He couldn’t withstand the attack of such a massive amount of pollution entities.
Shen Yu knew he had to retreat as soon as possible.
Mobilizing his light energy to the extreme, the White Tiger sensed the retreat signal. Its body grew double in size, and with a tiger leap, it cleared a path for him. The ferocious tiger claws smashed into the ground upon landing, creating several cracks!
But the ground fissures didn’t stop!
The massive cracks extending hundreds of meters were still branching out rapidly. Buildings collapsed with loud booms, and amidst the gravel and debris, more and more pollution entities drilled out from underground!
The cries of the pollution entities, weird as ghosts, were as noisy as cicadas in the scorching sun, vibrating the eardrums.
Then, the tens of thousands of black viscous pollution entities converged, merging into a massive whole, resembling a black giant standing over ten stories high.
It waved its arm, smashing heavily toward Shen Yu’s direction.
The giant tiger ran rapidly. Shen Yu, on the tiger’s back, leaped into the air. His sword was like flowing light, the aura pressing. He plunged it sharply into the “giant’s” knee, then twirled the long sword, slashing out several blades of light.
The “giant,” in pain, scattered to attack. They began to target his most vulnerable pointâhis Mental Power.
And at this moment, in the darkness, the sky full of Specters also went crazy, coordinating with the pollution entities to attack his Mental Power.
Shen Yu was instantly attacked from all sides.
For the first time, he faced such a difficult situation alone.
Thorn City, originally designated as an A-rank mission, was actually hiding a big one.
His body was ablaze with golden light, and the long sword in his palm hummed slightly, as if sensing its master’s peril and vowing to fight until the last moment.
Beneath his messy, flying white hair, the tiger pattern on his forehead faintly surfaced. His eyes, illuminated brilliantly by the golden light, revealed a hint of divinity.
Just as the Specters and pollution entities pressed down together, his sword energy lashed out.
The golden light pierced through the pollution entities one by one, cutting out a sky full of black blood. Amidst the blinding sword light, Shen Yu sensed the rapid depletion of his Mental Power.
The White Tiger was also beginning to struggle under the siege.
Too many.
There were simply too many pollution entities.
He couldn’t leave, and he couldn’t kill them all.
The young man’s eyes gradually dimmed, and the hair on his forehead was long since drenched in sweat.
“Shen Yu!”
A clear voice suddenly rang out, as if coming from the horizon.
Shen Yu thought he was hearing hallucinations.
He turned to look.
In the sea of pollution entities where not a shred of light could be seen, a kitten covered in silver fur forcefully tore open a gap and leaped over!
And behind that cat, the girl with silver hair and skin so white it glowedâwho else could it be but Chi Wan?
“You…”
What are you doing here at a time like this?
He swallowed the second half of his sentence. Massive Mental Power rapidly repaired his Mental Landscape at that moment. The White Tiger shook its body, regaining its former majesty.
The rapid recovery of his body made it very clear to him that he needed her, right now.
The White Tiger leaped and caught the kitten’s body.
The tiny kitten lay on the huge White Tiger’s back, its figure almost invisible.
The White Tiger caught the kitten.
But what about her?
“I’m here to help you!”
She looked at him with a pair of blue-violet eyes, sparkling and extremely pretty.
Shen Yu pursed his lips, stopping the thought of having the White Tiger carry her as well. A corner of his heart melted, and he nodded gently:
“Okay.”
Then, he would protect her.
With Chi Wan’s mental barrier and assistance, Shen Yu’s combat power returned to its peak state.
The mental attacks from the pollution entities and Specters were no longer effective against him.
Chi Wan hid behind him. The young man’s body, nearly two meters tall, was upright and robust, shielding a corner for her.
However, in the busyness, Chi Wan discovered a thread of silver light within her white Mental Power. The silver light was wispy, like unraveled silk; though not obvious, it was vivid.
She diverted a bit of attention to guide that silver light, only to see it drill into Shen Yu’s body as if uncontrolled!
The next second, whether it was Chi Wan’s illusion or not, she saw the light ability before her become even more formidable.
She was slightly startled and lowered her eyes to look at her palm.
But at this moment, the pollution entities suddenly switched targets, all aiming at Chi Wan!
Shen Yu noticed immediately.
He lowered his eyes to look at the girl behind him, extended his long arm, and scooped her into his arms.
Chi Wan, caught off guard by being picked up, was unstable and hugged his neck tightly.
She looked up and saw the angle of Shen Yu’s jaw as he focused on the battle.
He was actually… holding her with one arm while fighting with the other!
