Chapter 30: Trust Her One More Time
Even though her small hand gripped the hem of her clothes in fear, she forced herself to appear calm.
Her fleshy lips were pressed tight, and her trembling, slightly lowered eyelids stubbornly avoided looking at him. It didn’t seem fake.
Shi Ye lost all interest.
In the increasingly suffocating narrow space, he turned to probe deeper into the tunnel.
“If you go fight like this, dying suddenly will be my responsibility. As the only accompanying Guide right now, I need to soothe you.”
Stopped by Chi Wan’s voice, which was soft but carried a tone of official detachment, Shi Ye paused.
Immediately after, he felt a gentle and powerful Mental Power wrapping around him from behind.
The Black Wolf King Mental Entity emerged uncontrollably.
Then, a kitten with silver fur leaped over.
Unexpectedly, before it touched the Black Wolf King, it was pressed into the wolf’s embrace by its tall body and ravaged ruthlessly.
Chi Wan retreated several steps in fright.
The shared senses made her shudder all over.
Shi Ye looked at his out-of-control Mental Entity. Under his suppression, the Black Wolf King regained some rationality.
But his voice was incredibly hoarse:
“As an SSS-rank Guide, you shouldn’t be unaware of what an irritability value over 90% means.”
Chi Wan certainly knew. Values over 80% required deep soothing, let alone 90%.
But she… felt somewhat unable to do it to him… right now.
Under the gaze of his crimson wolf eyes, Chi Wan gritted her teeth, stepped forward, and raised her hand.
Thinking she was going to slap him, Shi Ye didn’t move.
The next second, he heard her whisper:
“Bend down a bit…”
She couldn’t reach.
The crimson eyes, having lost half their rationality due to her Mental Power, calmed down significantly.
Not using those props to hit him, but switching to hands now?
Disgust flashed across the bottom of Shi Ye’s eyes.
He didn’t refuse.
A healthy mental state was the most important thing to him right now.
He slowly bent down, his lowered eyelids hiding the killing intent in his eyes.
However, in the next second, a warm, soft little hand rubbed the top of his head, messing up his black hair.
The small hand trembled slightly, but the force was absolutely gentle and inexperienced.
He looked up at her.
Under the dappled, somewhat blinding halo, her eyelids were translucent. The undried tears on her eyelashes refracted crystal light, and those focused blue-violet eyes held no malice, only concentration and seriousness.
Shi Ye’s eyelid twitched. He glanced at the irritability value dropping to 90% on his optical computer, yet his Mental Power grew increasingly restless.
This soothing… felt completely different from before.
Before, her Mental Power was cold and bitter. Aside from the change in data, he felt nothing from beginning to end.
But this time, from the moment her Mental Entity appeared, his Mental Entity seemed to lose control.
Even now, simply being touched on the head by her, he found it hard to stay calm.
A disturbance deep in the tunnel pulled back his thoughts.
His black eyes looked sharply into the unknown black depths.
“A massive number of pollution larvae have hatched.”
“What?”
Chi Wan turned back in shock.
In the darkness, densely packed pollution larvae rushed out like arrows from a bow!
The Black Wolf King roared and charged out!
Immediately after, Chi Wan was yanked away by a force. She crashed into a warm, solid chest. Seeing the two pollution larvae impaled on the tip of Shi Ye’s blade, she realized she had almost been ambushed.
Squeak squeak squeak—!
Squeak squeak squeak—!
Squeak squeak squeak—!
The dense swarm of pollution larvae surrounded the Black Wolf King!
Then Chi Wan saw the irritability value on Shi Ye’s optical computer jump violently from 90% to 93%!
The kitten couldn’t get close to the Black Wolf King surrounded by pollution larvae and jumped helplessly on top of Chi Wan’s head.
“Leave here. Tell the Sentinels to bring liquid flame guns.”
Such a large number of pollution larvae indicated just how many eggs were deep inside.
It was no longer something that could be eliminated by manpower alone.
Chi Wan nodded and intended to leave, but then she heard the nearly berserk roar of the Black Wolf King behind her.
This cry…
If she left, it was uncertain if she would see a living Shi Ye when she returned.
She turned back and ran toward the fighting man.
“Shi Ye.”
Under the control ability, a large number of pollution larvae hovered in the air as if frozen. The Black Wolf King went on a killing spree.
Shi Ye turned to look at Chi Wan running back. His crazed, sharp red eyes regained some rationality.
“Stay with me.”
As his Mental Entity was besieged by a massive number of pollution larvae, the irritability value on his wrist jumped to a terrifying 96%, even triggering an alarm:
“Detected that your current state is extremely unhealthy. Please be sure to find a Guide for soothing immediately—”
“Detected that your current state is extremely unhealthy. Please be sure to find a Guide for soothing immediately—”
…
Shi Ye’s breath was deep and scalding. He pulled her over, pressing her firmly into his arms.
Just this once.
Trust her one more time.
Squeak squeak squeak—!
The pollution larvae, released from control, surrounded Shi Ye.
His movements were ruthless and precise. Almost every slash of his blade could impale several pollution larvae at once.
Chi Wan, clamped in his arms by one arm, tried hard to mobilize her Mental Power to protect him, soothing him along the way.
The overly narrow space and dense pollution larvae made it impossible for her Mental Entity to latch onto the Black Wolf King.
She could only use the most primitive method—mobilizing her Mental Landscape and touch soothing.
But being protected so tightly by him, the range she could move was limited.
Close at hand were his pectoral muscles, appearing and disappearing with his combat movements.
Only, these muscles were covered in scars, preventing any impure thoughts from arising.
