Sentinel & Guide: From Pariah to Heartthrob Chapter 57

Chapter 57: Yue

“Smashing an electroshock device at a time like this—are you that bored?”

The mechanical door of the medical room opened, and Li Su, dressed in the crisp combat uniform exclusive to the Interstellar Legion, strode in.

As he spoke, he glanced at Cang Lin, who was wrapped in bandages of all sizes on the hospital bed, and tossed a star-screen to him.

Cang Lin caught the star-screen. On it, the mission regarding the Sea of Lost was marked with the Alliance’s highest SSS-rank priority.

The complex information and massive amount of images and text all indicated the importance and complexity of this mission.

He put down the star-screen and leaned against the mattress behind him, speaking lazily:

“I can enter the mission at any time.”

After half a day of machine therapy, the damaged parts of his body had mostly recovered.

Li Su stood by the window, watching him quietly, his grey-brown eyes calm and steady:

“I told you not to provoke her. Now that you’ve offended her, it’s even more impossible for her to participate in this SSS-rank operation with you.”

Mentioning Chi Wan made Cang Lin angry:

“I’m not willing to seek her out either; it’s just that my Mental Entity happens to prefer her mental power.”

Li Su was always keen. He glanced at him indifferently and ruthlessly exposed him:

“Is your Mental Entity not the manifestation of your own self-consciousness?”

Cang Lin was at a loss for words, maintaining a cold face.

The Vice Commander beside his bed was also a blunt person, adding fuel to the fire at this moment:

“That’s right, Commander. You mobilized us to help you grab a slot, and we thought you were going for Soothing. Who knew you went to smash a machine? If we’d known, we wouldn’t have helped you!”

Cang Lin shot him a chilling glare, and he shut his mouth.

But only for a second.

He spoke again: “The entire Guide group welcomes you, after all, you’re the most generous—your tips are always number one. Why did you have to go looking for Guide Chi Wan? If you ask me, you shouldn’t go looking for her next time.”

Leave the chance to us Sentinels.

“Did she not come?”

Unexpectedly, Cang Lin suddenly asked this.

the Vice Commander was stunned and immediately shook his head.

Cang Lin fell silent.

This woman was truly too much.

Knowing he was badly injured because of her, more than half a day had passed, and she hadn’t come to visit.

But fortunately, she didn’t actually want to shock him to death. That machine, for some reason, had its buttons reversed compared to other Alliance devices.

At that time, she must have intended to use the minimum voltage on him.

Thinking of this, Cang Lin’s heart suddenly felt a bit lighter. He looked at Li Su:

“Don’t worry. This time, she can be considered to owe me a favor. If I invite her, she might not necessarily refuse the Sea of Lost mission.”

Li Su didn’t speak.

He simply felt that a man’s self-confidence could sometimes be a double-edged sword.

After finishing her day’s Soothing work, Chi Wan planned to go to the Alliance’s training room to practice.

The Alliance prepared large-scale combat training grounds containing low-level Polluted Entities for Sentinels with Abilities.

This was to facilitate accurate testing and training of their Abilities.

However, just as she left the building, she saw the youth waiting downstairs.

Dressed in a white belted combat suit, his figure was upright, and his long legs stood at ease. His aura was undeniably ethereal.

Under the sunset’s glow, he was playing with a longsword in the corner, his profile bathed in the sunlight.

Who could it be but Shen Yu?

Noticing Chi Wan coming downstairs immediately, he smiled brightly and ran over.

His fine hair fluttered across his forehead, and his phoenix eyes shimmered:

“Guide Chi Wan, may I invite you to practice swordsmanship?”

Chi Wan was puzzled: “Practice swordsmanship?”

He rubbed his white hair, his smile becoming a bit bashful. He looked nothing like the mischievous person who had invited her onto his motorcycle back then; his eyes were filled with pure, clean kindness:

“This is a sword forged by our Shen family. The blade is delicate, and the hilt is surrounded by jade. It feels excellent and was designed specifically for Guides.”

As he spoke, his long, jade-like fingers gripped the sword and held it out before Chi Wan:

“For you.”

Knowing there’s no such thing as a free lunch, Chi Wan refused without a second thought.

“No thanks, but thank you.”

Her soft voice carried an undetectable hint of cold detachment.

The youth’s smile instantly froze on his face. Watching that back which walked away without the slightest hesitation, for the first time in his life, he suffered a sense of defeat.

But that beautiful silver-haired figure hadn’t gone far before she was urgently stopped by a Sentinel.

Shen Yu could tell that it was the Vice Commander of Cang Lin’s Base A1, Hui Ji.

He followed them and saw Hui Ji trying to organize his words, his face flushing as he stammered:

“Guide Chi Wan, our Commander is still in the medical center. Because his injuries are very serious, he could only ask me to bring a message.”

He put a heavy emphasis on the words “very serious.”

Chi Wan only registered “bring a message.” She tilted her head:

“Ah, you came at the right time. I’ve blocked Cang Lin’s Soothing authorization again.”

“Hard work for you to tell him. The bet was to unblock his slot, but it didn’t say I couldn’t block it again after unblocking it.”

“Thanks~”

Hui Ji was stunned.

He immediately felt there was no need to ask the following question.

But with great professional spirit, he braved it and asked:

“Our Commander invites you to join tomorrow’s SSS-rank Sea of Lost mission. Guide Chi Wan, are you willing?”

As he spoke, the System’s voice coincidentally rang in her head:

[Tsk, tsk, tsk. What a pity, what a pity.]

[It’s truly a butterfly effect. If it weren’t for that useless ‘Wild System,’ Host, you would already be doing ‘this and that’ with the seven male leads!]

Because the System’s words were too explosive, Chi Wan only heard the System’s voice.

She was confused: “Doing ‘this and that’?”

[Hehe, Host, don’t worry, it’s not the PG version.]

Chi Wan understood.

She thought of the two most annoying faces—Cang Lin and Pei Yuan.

Suddenly, she felt it was bad luck.

With the two of them… just the thought of it made her feel sick.

Her stomach was empty, but her heart was full of repulsion, and she involuntarily let out a retch.

“Yue!”

Hui Ji froze, then very tactfully said:

“I understand, Guide Chi Wan. I will definitely bring your words—or rather, your reaction—to our Commander!”

It seemed his Commander’s humiliation also made him, as a subordinate, feel extremely embarrassed. Hui Ji ran away very quickly.

Shen Yu walked up: “Is your stomach uncomfortable? Should we go to the medical center for a check-up?”
