Chapter 70: Trapped Soul
Seeing that Chi Wan was only looking at her quietly, Ji Ke’s expression showed a flash of anger.
Then, as if remembering something, she began to pace leisurely around her.
“I know that you didn’t return alone this time.
You also brought a system with you.”
After she finished speaking, she stood before Chi Wan, who was of a similar height.
The two of them stood facing each other. Chi Wan was as calm as water, while Ji Ke put on an air of overbearing arrogance.
“A pity… it’s a trash system!”
[System: @#!@#&……!&@……%#&!]
“But I don’t blame it.”
As she spoke, she turned and continued pacing.
That dazzling silver phoenix spread its wings and flew over, obediently stopping beside her and nuzzling her palm.
“The entire Main God System is already in a state of chaos. A large number of high-level systems have betrayed it for profit, recklessly tampering with world rules. Those so-called ‘regular’ systems that maintain world order… only a few pieces of trash remain.”
Ji Ke shook her head and clicked her tongue:
“It just so happens that you, Chi Wan, have bad luck. The one you matched with is the trashiest among the trash.”
[System: ……%!……@#¥(!@#!@#&……!&@……%#&!]
Chi Wan’s head throbbed from the system’s cursing, and her brow furrowed slightly.
Ji Ke, however, thought she was breaking down because of her words.
Her smile grew even wider as she looked at Chi Wan:
“Don’t blame me for stealing everything from you. I spent a long time picking~
Among a pile of excellent destinies, I liked yours the most~”
In this vast world, she was the favored daughter of the greatest interstellar power. Both her abilities and her background were top-tier. She had lived a smooth life since childhood, her life practically “cheated”—even more so than a power-fantasy novel.
Even her marriage prospects… there were as many as seven of them. Seven men, each with distinct personalities and top-tier strength and looks, had lowered their noble heads for her, exhausting all their efforts to humbly seek her favor and love.
Such a destiny and life were better than the top destinies in any other plane.
She, Ji Ke, had set her sights on it at first glance.
“You want everything of mine, is that it?”
Chi Wan finally spoke.
Her voice was calm.
The culprit who had caused her such misery was right before her eyes, yet she wasn’t angry in the slightest.
“Naturally.”
Chi Wan shook her head. “If you want it, I’ll give it all to you.”
She looked at her calmly. “The status, the power, the men—I can give all of those to you.”
She wasn’t interested, nor did she want to fight for them.
Living as an ordinary person and lead an ordinary life—even if she remained single for the rest of her life—she didn’t think it was a big deal.
In this life, one lives for oneself. Everything else is external, not to mention that feelings between people have always been fickle and unstable.
Ji Ke, however, didn’t believe her.
She sat atop the silver phoenix and squinted at her, trying to catch a trace of disappointment or breakdown in her eyes.
But she could only see a cloud-like indifference.
This feeling made her extremely uncomfortable.
She had paid a massive price to obtain these things, not hesitating to personally kill Chi Wan’s parents.
And yet, Chi Wan didn’t care?
Everything that was so heart-stirring… she didn’t care?
It was truly laughable.
As if wanting to tear through her calm facade, her tone grew faster:
“Chi Wan, stop pretending to be indifferent here.
I’m telling you, even though you’ve returned, you can’t change anything.”
As she spoke, the phoenix rose slightly into the air, looking down at Chi Wan from above.
Ji Ke’s gaze was like that of someone looking at an ant:
“I just love personally tearing apart a person’s last hope. When the moment I arrive comes, you will know just how miserable your death will be for daring to fight me.”
“Just thinking about it is quite exciting~ The previous Chi Wan was just a machine; there was no thrill in killing her.”
[Host, I know now! She is a soul from an alien world!]
[A soul from an alien world cannot enter this world easily. A soul needs to go through a complex series of operations like extraction, transmission, fusion, and body-borrowing—acting against the heavens. It also requires finding a space-time loophole!]
[So, even though she is already losing her patience, she still can’t come to this world immediately! She can only meet you through a phantom image using this method!]
Listening to the System’s voice, Chi Wan merely lowered her eyes calmly:
“I hear what you mean.
It seems that even though I’ve clearly stated I can give everything to you and won’t fight you for it, you still want me dead.”
“Naturally.”
After Ji Ke finished speaking, she looked down at her coldly.
The phoenix beneath her began to flap its wings violently. In an instant, silver energy surged!
The Beyond-SSS-rank energy was like a hurricane, capable of destroying almost anything!
[Host, the rogue system can’t detect whether you possess energy or not. She is testing your abilities—this is the most important purpose of her trip!]
[Whatever you do, you must hide your strength!]
Chi Wan looked up at her. Under the brilliant light, her hair fluttered, and every inch of her fair face was stunningly beautiful.
“Going through all this trouble to create this opportunity just to see you in person… I didn’t expect you to be this beautiful. I’ve changed my mind.
How about your consciousness remains in this space-time rift forever, Chi Wan!”
Chi Wan instantly felt as if her soul were being torn away. She heard Ji Ke’s voice coming through the hurricane in fragmented pieces—
But the sensation of her soul being detached was extremely painful, and she couldn’t hear clearly.
…
When Qi Ye arrived, what he saw were two space-time rifts.
Except for Pei Yuan, all the Commanders were waiting outside the rifts, either standing or sitting.
Li Su looked at him:
“Chi Wan has entered the rift. It’s been over an hour, and there’s been no movement.”
They had also tried joining forces to break this rift.
All efforts were in vain.
“She went in alone?”
Qi Ye, covered in the dust of travel, had a sharp, cold gaze. His intent to hold them accountable was obvious.
With so many Commanders present, they let her—a Guide—enter alone?
Cang Lin’s expression was grave. “Except for her, none of us can get in.”
Immediately following that, the space-time rift began to fluctuate, and its light grew even more brilliant.
Everyone stood up and looked toward the rift, only to see a thin, small body being sent out from within the white light!
Following that, one of the space-time rifts vanished, leaving only the final one.
Chi Wan’s body hadn’t even hit the ground before she was caught by Qi Ye. In an instant, the others also crowded around.
The girl being held in his arms had a pale face and weak breathing. Although she was completely uninjured, her eyes were tightly shut, and no sign of life could be seen.
