Chapter 81: If You Encounter a Phoenix, Fuse Blood with Her
Amidst the howling sea wind, Chi Wan watched the seawater surge more violently as Yun Qi approached.
As he neared, the ocean seemed to be split by a giant axe, surging to both sides and carving out a direct path!
The seawater, piling higher and higher like the towering gates of the underworld, exerted a terrifying sense of pressure. The sound of the waves echoed like the shrieks of ghosts.
The strengthening gale sent Chi Wan’s hair fluttering wildly.
She calmly pulled her hand back. “I’ll go.”
Shen Yu stepped forward, his amber eyes shifting from the pitch-black path carved through the water toward Chi Wan. He did not interfere with her decision.
Shi Ye quietly watched Chi Wan’s departing figure.
Cang Lin stood with his arms crossed, an unreadable emotion flickering in his golden eyes.
Behind the crowd, Pei Yuan’s sharp gaze remained chillingly indifferent.
Every Sentinel turned their gaze toward the back of that petite figure.
A figure that appeared far too fragile when compared to their massive physiques.
Seeing her stubbornness and resilience, Qi Ye said no more.
However, his gaze followed Chi Wan toward the blue silhouette vanishing into the dark waterway, his cold voice rising slightly in volume:
“Yun Qi, if you dare to hurt her, I will not let you off.”
Yun Qi’s footsteps paused briefly. His eyelids lowered, but he continued forward without a word.
As the two entered, the walls of water collapsed, kicking up waves tens of thousands of feet high!
The waves crashed heavily against the rocks, only to be blocked by a suddenly manifested, massive lion!
The sea returned to a deceptive calm. Not a trace of the two figures remained, as if the shocking scene from moments ago had been nothing but an illusion.
…
Within the seawater.
Chi Wan followed closely behind Yun Qi’s silhouette.
The Sea God’s Contract allowed her to walk through the deep sea as if on level ground. There seemed to be a barrier between her and the water, and even her breathing remained unaffected.
As they stepped deeper, eerie subterranean plants began to appear. Thick, black, polluted stalks swayed like sea demons, chilling anyone who beheld them.
Suddenly, Yun Qi stopped.
Chi Wan immediately halted as well, gripping her firearm and looking at his back with trepidation.
Yun Qi did not turn around. His mental power could sense her fear. He spoke in a low voice:
“I will not do anything to you here. We are currently in a cooperative relationship.”
His voice was clear and cold, like a frigid spring atop a snowy mountain or a stream melting from a glacier.
“The grievances between us—I will settle them after we return to the Alliance.”
Chi Wan understood his meaning, yet hearing his words still made her feel as though her entire body had been soaked in ice water.
Yun Qi continued forward.
Only this time, a faint blue light flickered around his cerulean eyes, and blue energy rippled across his body.
Chi Wan knew this was his Prediction ability.
In the next second, he fired over a dozen fish-bone darts into the water. Wrapped in blue energy, the darts flew like arrows released from a bow, completely unaffected by the water pressure. Mid-flight, they “slammed” into over a dozen mutated marine organisms launching a sneak attack!
Black blood began to spread through the water!
Immediately after, even more energy from polluted entities approached!
Chi Wan focused entirely on constructing a mental barrier. Linked by silver energy, she prepared to devour the pollutants at any moment.
Swarms of marine pollutants crowded toward them!
Most were in a half-human, half-fish form.
The blue Kun-Whale manifested with a resonant, vibrating cry.
With a sweep of its massive tail, it slaughtered an entire section!
Chi Wan fought with all her might. With a wave of her hand, her energy could instantly drain the essence of a cluster of low-level pollutants.
But she suddenly noticed a tear falling from the eye of the powerful Kun-Whale. That pale blue tear was particularly conspicuous in the grayish-black water, like an exquisite bead emitting a faint blue glow.
Why was it crying?
Chi Wan realized the reason mid-thought.
These pollutants were once the tribesmen of Planet Poseidon.
At this moment, Yun Qi was killing his former people!
It was just that these tribesmen had all turned into pollutants now—low-level ones with very little self-awareness.
The pollutants were cut down one after another. Black blood exploded in the water like blooming black roses.
The scent of blood, mingled with the foul stench of the pollutants, grew even thicker.
The light in the depths of Yun Qi’s eyes vanished completely.
Killing his own kin with his own hands… even though he had mentally prepared himself, each strike felt like a blade piercing his own heart.
A powerful energy fluctuation surged out from the mass of pollutants.
Chi Wan looked over to see a human-shaped high-level pollutant swimming toward them at high speed!
“Rank Nine…”
Yun Qi stopped mid-sentence. When he saw the visitor’s appearance, his pupils trembled, and the energy around him became extremely unstable.
High-level pollutants retained a portion of their memories and possessed a degree of intelligence, but their bodies were rotted and polluted, and their consciousnesses were shackled and controlled.
The newcomer was a male pollutant of normal size with algae-green hair. His pupils were entirely black against a grayish face. He stopped before Yun Qi, floating in the sea. After a few seconds, he spoke, his voice like rusting iron, as unpleasant as an old man’s rasp:
“Prince, have you come… home?”
As he opened his mouth, foul black slime belonging to the pollutants merged into the seawater.
Hearing this, Chi Wan looked at Yun Qi nervously.
The entirety of Planet Poseidon had become pollutants, controlled and migrated to the Lost Sea.
These words were undoubtedly an invitation for Yun Qi to join them and become a pollutant as well.
Yun Qi’s brow furrowed. He pulled out his fish-bone blade and assumed a combat stance.
The high-level pollutant understood his meaning. He merely lowered his head and similarly drew a damaged fish-bone blade:
“Prince, my blade techniques… were taught to me by your own hand…”
“Make your move, Meng Ya.”
Under intense energy fluctuations, the two clashed!
The Kun-Whale swam out to join the fray. A Rank Nine pollutant was no easy opponent; Meng Ya’s entire body began to enlarge until he was as massive as the Kun-Whale. Black fins rapidly sprouted from his arms, legs, back, and face!
Even his five claws transformed into the shape of fish spines.
The seawater churned violently. Even with the Sea God’s Contract, Chi Wan found it extremely difficult just to stay standing.
After a fierce battle, Meng Ya gradually fell into a disadvantage and was knocked to the seabed by Yun Qi.
Yun Qi pressed his fish-bone blade against him. It was sharp and cold, yet the blade itself trembled slightly.
Yun Qi’s voice was somewhat broken:
“Meng Ya, your blade skills… have improved.”
Meng Ya, who had returned to his original form, suddenly smiled.
That smile revealed black, rotted teeth. It was a ghastly sight, yet the smile was sincere and warm. This was the first time Chi Wan had seen such a smile on a pollutant.
Finally, he said, “Prince, you must… harden your heart. Walk forward, and do not look back.”
Immediately after, he threw himself onto the bone blade.
Black blood diffused.
Yun Qi’s grip on the blade tightened. Behind him, more and more pollutants were swarming in!
…
Chi Wan had never felt a battle be so agonizingly long.
For a full three or four hours, the two of them fought their way into the deep-sea zone.
They saw all kinds of polluted coral and plants.
However, there were even more varieties of marine pollutants.
Killing pollutants wasn’t the hardest part; the hardest part was watching Yun Qi kill his former acquaintances, subordinates, servants, partners, and comrades-in-arms one by one.
They appeared in all forms: crabs with hard shells, soft-bodied organisms, and various bizarre-looking fish.
They encountered seven high-level pollutants in total.
Every single one of them respectfully called Yun Qi “Prince.”
One asked him, “Will you stay?”
One asked him, “Are you here to find the Sea God King?”
And another asked, “Have you come this time… to see us?”
Yun Qi answered none of them.
He only drew his blade in silence.
It was as if the simple action of drawing his blade took every ounce of his strength.
Chi Wan found it suffocating. Coordinating with him to kill people he knew, personally feeling the pain that seeped into his mental power—that was what she found most oppressive.
But from beginning to end, Yun Qi never stopped. Only the Kun-Whale would occasionally let out a mournful cry, like a dirge from the ocean floor.
Chi Wan looked back. Under the searchlights, the path they had come from was littered with corpses. The seawater had long since been dyed a dark hue.
The people of the Sea Race not only had to endure the slaughter of becoming pollutants but, after transforming, they had to be killed again by the Sea God Prince they revered.
How tragic and lamentable.
The seawater suddenly swirled violently!
It was like a giant whirlpool!
Plants, corpses, and pollutants in the vicinity were all sucked in!
Chi Wan was pulled into the vortex by a powerful force!
Immediately following that, her hand was gripped tightly by a slightly cool, large hand!
“Hold on tight.”
After his voice was shredded by the rushing water, the entire ocean seemed to let out a vibrating roar.
Chi Wan’s vision was blurred by the powerful currents. She could only vaguely feel that the surrounding pollutants and corpses seemed to gradually vanish. However, what followed was a surge of pollutant energy she had never felt before!
She was absolutely certain that this was a super-powerful Rank Ten pollutant!
Amidst her pounding heart, the seawater gradually stabilized. A middle-aged male pollutant, who shared a slight resemblance to Yun Qi, slowly approached.
Yun Qi’s brow furrowed deeper.
Upon seeing him, the Rank Ten pollutant smiled with relief:
“As expected of my son. Only with such a hard heart can you achieve great things.”
Yun Qi knelt heavily. “Father.”
Chi Wan slowly landed on the ground, looking at this man who, though he had become a pollutant, could not hide his noble and divine aura.
She thought to herself: So this is the former supreme leader of Planet Poseidon—the Sea God King.
“It’s just that your blade isn’t decisive enough. I know you; you are like your mother, too sentimental about the past. To have reached this point is already your best effort.”
Yun Qi did not speak. Though he was kneeling, his back was straight. Only his slightly lowered eyelashes trembled uncontrollably.
“If you keep killing like this, you won’t finish in twenty-four hours.”
The people of Planet Poseidon were too numerous.
Forget one day—even in ten days, he and she might not be able to kill them all.
At this moment, ten thousand miles under the sea, all was silent. Every living thing had quieted down due to the appearance of the Sea God King.
Yun Qi didn’t speak, but his hand gripping the bone blade was squeezed until blood trickled out.
The Sea God King looked toward Chi Wan, his voice filled with melancholy:
“This Guide beside you… I sensed her aura the moment she stepped into this place. I thought… who knew I had mistaken her.”
As he spoke, his tall body floated up slightly as he looked at Yun Qi:
“Child, I’m sure you already know the truth about the pollutants. Even a Rank Ten pollutant like me is nothing more than their tool.”
Yun Qi: “Yes. Two years ago, the Federation fought a great war against them. The casualties were countless, and nearly the entire Federation was reshuffled. Even then, they were only heavily injured.”
The Sea God King’s voice turned more majestic:
“They are currently hiding right here on Planet A-73. They possess the ability to be nearly immortal and can evolve pollutants. Once this Lost Sea is destroyed, one of their most important defensive lines will be broken. You wouldn’t dare leak such news, would you?”
Yun Qi looked up at him. “Only the top brass of the Federation know.”
The Sea God King’s pitch-black pupils seemed to burn with fire:
“We have already become pollutants. Our consciousness is trapped, and our flesh is rotting. We would die immediately if we escaped their control and this area. We have no other way, but you still do.”
His voice was firm. Even though it was obvious that another force within him was pulling at his consciousness, his expression remained unchanged:
“Child, you must remember the prophecy of the Sea God Priest. If you encounter a Guide whose spirit body is a Phoenix, fuse your blood with hers and use your Sea God Power to assist her. Only then can you break the deadlock!”
