Chapter 88: The System’s Secret
As she was pondering, Chi Wan suddenly felt something different in her mind.
Immediately after, the System’s voice transmitted excitedly:
[Host, I’m back!!!]
It was the System’s somewhat lazy, slightly honest-sounding, nasal-toned cute voice!
Chi Wan was instantly filled with excitement, her eyes brightening:
“System, you finished writing the report?”
After two seconds of silence, the System’s voice continued:
[That’s right, kept you waiting, hehe.]
While the System spoke, the experiences of the past two days flashed through its mind.
The extreme panic and grief felt as though they had happened only a moment ago. The intense light accompanied by a terrifying pressure had squeezed it until it could barely breathe.
At that time, it had pleaded repeatedly:
“Even though all my points are gone, I can still work hard! Give me some more time, don’t execute me yet.”
Within that magnificent white light, countless spots of light swirled. It was mysterious and powerful.
The Main God System was like a towering mountain.
It didn’t dare to look directly at it.
The Main God did not speak; only the voice of a high-level system sounded, cold and ruthless:
“Wild-path systems are running rampant. Not only do they constantly alter established worlds and rules, but they have even attacked the Main God Space. With internal troubles and external threats, we need capable systems now, not low-ability systems like you. The words struck its sore spot, and it felt unable to argue.
It was true; it had always been somnolent, lazy, and lacked ambition…

This was a host it wanted to protect properly.

It was born as a random light cluster within the Main God Space, a composite of particles and complex magnetic waves.

So, from birth, it felt that this existence was meaningless. It drifted through various worlds, eating and waiting for death, muddled through life with the “at worst, I’ll be executed” mindset.

Why did it suddenly not want to die now?

“I remember!”
Its voice carried anger and trembling. She was fighting everything alone; she needed help. How could they not remember her!
“She is my female lead! I remember!”
In its indignation, it realized it was being too emotional. Fearing that it would displease the other side, it asked humbly:
“So, if I am executed, you won’t send a new system to help Chi Wan, right?”
“Correct.”
“Then I beg of you, let me stay with her until she finishes this life, okay?”
“I beg of you…”
“Or let me stay with her until she is safe, please…”
Although its abilities were low, it wanted to accompany her through all her hardships.
It really wanted to.
Finally, after a thousand pleas and ten thousand entreaties, the Main God System finally relented, allowing it to accompany Chi Wan for another ten years.
The System didn’t tell Chi Wan any of this, only conversing with her happily:

[How did you level up so fast?]
[As expected of my host!]
It could only use a joyful tone to mask the pain in its heart.
Chi Wan told the System everything she had experienced over the past few days, piece by piece.
In her heart, “Tongzi” was like her most trustworthy partner in this world.
She had nothing to hide from it.
