Chapter 9: The Truth of This World
However, the moment the message was sent, Chi Wan sensed danger approaching.
She turned her head abruptly, only to see an incredibly massive pollution tiger lunging fiercely at her!
This pollution tiger was larger than any of the ones before!
Chi Wan retreated toward the cave in fear, but then she remembered the bags the Sentinels had asked her to watch.
She grabbed the bags and ran quickly into the mine tunnel.
But the weight of seven or eight backpacks was not light, and they significantly hindered her movement.
In her panic, she tripped and fell hard to the ground.
Roar—!
The giant pollution tiger bit down toward Chi Wan.
In a moment of desperation, she picked up a rock from the ground and smashed it at the tiger’s mouth.
It struck the tiger’s tooth directly. Chi Wan grabbed the backpacks and scrambled deeper into the mine.
Roar—!
The giant pollution tiger was obviously enraged. Its paws slammed onto the ground, causing tremors. It leaped up, its body smashing against the cave wall and knocking down rocks, then lunged viciously at Chi Wan’s petite body.
At that critical moment, a massive silver snake body, carrying terrifying energy, rushed out from the depths of the mine!
It swallowed the tiger’s head in one bite and crushed it!
White-green brain matter mixed with the black blood typical of pollution entities splattered all over the ground!
The headless tiger body twitched and collapsed.
“That was the leader of the tigers from earlier. It came for revenge.”
Qi Ye’s tone was flat, but his slightly heavy breathing revealed his urgency. He had rushed up the moment he sensed the pollution tiger’s presence.
Fortunately, he made it in time.
He reached out a hand to her. “Are you okay?”
Chi Wan pushed away the backpacks blocking her front. Her small face was still somewhat pale from the lingering fear as she placed her hand in his palm.
She tried to stand, but felt a strong wave of dizziness.
Her brows furrowed, and even her hand in his palm dropped weakly.
Qi Ye tightened his grip on her falling hand and immediately saw her leg, which was stained red with blood.
A black spike of the Poison Scorpion Weed, lying close to the ground, was slowly moving.
She had been stung.
He immediately severed the black spike and picked her up to walk out.
“Commander, where are you going?”
“What happened to Guide Chi Wan?”
“What? Is Guide Chi Wan in trouble?”
Seeing this, the Sentinels rushing up from inside the mine followed with concern.
Chi Wan felt terrible.
She could feel herself being held, feel the firm skin against her was slightly cool but very broad and safe.
But she couldn’t open her eyes at all.
Her stomach seemed to be churning, and her brain felt like it was being stirred by an iron rod.
Suffocation, pain.
Before finally losing consciousness, she felt the poisoned wound on her leg being sucked by warm lips.
And in her haze, she seemed to hear Qi Ye say:
“Chi Wan, I don’t care who you are right now. Survive this for me.”
…
Then Chi Wan fell into a long darkness.
She heard the System’s voice again:
[Host, wake up! Being poisoned to death by a Poison Scorpion Weed is too pathetic!]
Chi Wan’s head was muddled. She spoke to the System with only her subconscious:
“Better if I die. I don’t want to be this broken vicious villainess. I want to go back to school, I miss my mom and dad…”
As she spoke, she suddenly realized she couldn’t remember what her so-called mom and dad looked like.
She felt a splitting headache.
Not only could she not remember her parents’ faces, she couldn’t even remember her own appearance in the 21st century, the name of her school, or the faces of her classmates.
Who was she, really…
Where were her memories…
The System’s voice became uncharacteristically serious:
[Sigh. Host, there are some things I should probably tell you.]
[Although I am just a low-level system, perennially rated the lowest for being lazy and sleeping on the job due to poor business skills, and I originally intended to just scrape a passing grade on this mission by keeping you alive…]
[But… even a salted fish has dreams. If we give it a shot, maybe we can get a better ending!]
“What are you saying? What is this? I don’t understand.”
Chi Wan opened her eyes and found herself in a pure white world.
There was a book on the ground.
She slowly walked closer. It was a novel titled The Super Strong Guide and Her Seven Supreme Sentinel Commanders.
Chi Wan opened the novel.
She was shocked to discover that the heroine was actually Chi Wan.
Chi Wan, SSS-rank Mental Power, Mental Entity: Phoenix, the only Super Strong Guide with SSS-rank Combat Value.
In a special ALP Interstellar mission, she went to Planet A-73 with seven Super Sentinel Commanders.
After experiencing many dangers and trials, she grew into a Super SSS-rank powerhouse alongside the seven male leads and fell in love with them.
The more she read, the more Chi Wan’s hands trembled.
The world in the novel was largely identical to the settings in the novel she had read before.
Except the heroine was different.
The heroine of that other novel was named Ji Ke.
Just as Chi Wan was confused, the words in the novel began to undergo a drastic change!
The black characters on the white paper floated up one by one, shattered, and reorganized!
The heroine’s name was changed to Ji Ke, and Chi Wan became the villainess who committed all kinds of evil.
The heroine’s appearance time was also changed. She appeared after the seven male leads had all grown into Super SSS-rank Sentinels. Carrying Super SSS-rank Mental Power and Combat Value, she seemed to have a heroine’s halo, making the seven male leads fall for her instantly.
Chi Wan threw the book away in fright.
[Host, do you understand now?]
[Actually, you have always been the heroine. But Ji Ke hired a rogue system with powerful algorithms to help her change the rules of this world and steal your destiny. Not only that, but your Mental Entity, background, luck, and abilities were all stripped away by her.]
[And to prevent your appearance from ruining her plan, your soul was uploaded into a 21st-century mechanical virtual world, while Chi Wan’s body was implanted with a mechanical lifeform—a programmatic vicious villainess who did bad things mindlessly.]
[This is also why this body, despite being an SSS-rank Mental Power Guide, had no Mental Entity before.]
[She had no living soul.]
Digesting all this, Chi Wan asked in shock:
“You mean, I am Chi Wan? The previous Chi Wan was just a mechanical lifeform?”
[Yes, Host. So you must survive. This is the world that truly belongs to you.]
