Shocking The Madman Stole Someone Else’s Canary to be His Wife Chapter 56

Chapter 56: Be With Me Forever

After leaving the restaurant, Wen Yan didn’t share a car back to school with Wu Qingqing and Duan Mingtao.

Duan Mingtao was surprised. “You aren’t living in your old place?”

Wu Qingqing felt somewhat embarrassed. “If I had known you weren’t living there, I wouldn’t have chosen a place so far away to eat. Is it expensive for you to take a taxi back?”

Saying this, she felt even more guilty and simply took out her phone. “Brother Yan, where do you live now? Let me call a car for you.”

“No need!”

Wen Yan’s reaction was huge. He quickly tried to restore his usual expression. “It’s not far from here; I’ll just go back myself.”

Jinting was a very famous villa district; Wen Yan didn’t want his friends to know he lived there.

His relationship with Pei Zhouye wasn’t honorable to begin with. He had emotions he couldn’t articulate.

Shame, humiliation.

The two were startled by his reaction.

Their expressions stiffened for a few seconds, but they pretended not to notice and smiled. “Then be careful on the way.”

After finally separating from the two, Wen Yan lowered his head to hail a car on his phone.

This place wasn’t exactly remote, but the roads were winding, and it wasn’t close to other commercial circles, so ride-hailing drivers were unwilling to come out here.

It was getting late, and the nearest car was still 3 kilometers away.

When Cheng Shangshi came out, he was stunned to see Wen Yan standing by the roadside.

The young man by the road had a slender figure and excellent proportions. The light from the streetlamp hit him from the side, draping him in a veil of light. He looked a bit annoyed, head down as he swiped at his phone.

“Aren’t you going back with your friends?”

Wen Yan turned around and saw Cheng Shangshi again.

It was late now, and there weren’t many people on the roadside. Cheng Shangshi had taken off his mask; his baseball cap was pulled low, covering his eyes, but his high nose bridge and tight jawline were visible.

He felt a bit vexed. His embarrassed state was always seen by this person.

Once was fine, but after multiple times, it was inevitably awkward.

Wen Yan: “Mn. Waiting for a car.”

Cheng Shangshi walked quickly to his side. Without looking at Wen Yan’s phone, he guessed Wen Yan hadn’t managed to get a car.

“Let me drive you. I happened to drive here. Where do you live?”

Wen Yan didn’t answer.

Cheng Shangshi realized he was asking about the other’s privacy. “I live over by XX. Is it on the way? If not, I can take you to a place where it’s easier to catch a cab.”

Wen Yan hesitated for a while, looking down at the constantly spinning interface on his phone.

He sighed helplessly in a low voice. “Just take me to XX Road. Sorry for the trouble.”

The road was spacious with few people at night.

Wen Yan sat in the passenger seat.

Cheng Shangshi drove very steadily. He suddenly spoke, “You live in Jinting?”

Wen Yan instinctively wanted to deny it. He saw Cheng Shangshi’s brows in the rearview mirror and remained silent, which counted as a tacit admission.

He didn’t like to lie. The other party was also someone he had only met a few times and with whom he had no mutual friend circle.

Cheng Shangshi seemed to guess everything with distinct accuracy. This keenness touched the boundary of Wen Yan’s privacy, and he regretted getting into the car.

Cheng Shangshi understood and casually found a topic. “Then I’ll drive you inside. I have a house there, so I can get in. That way, you’ll have a shorter walk back.”

“I’ll get off at the entrance,” Wen Yan refused.

Cheng Shangshi: “Okay.”

He didn’t probe further.

The car stopped by the roadside, and Wen Yan thanked him and got out.

Seeing that Cheng Shangshi had no intention of driving inside, he glanced at him strangely.

The person inside the car window was stunned by that glance and understood Wen Yan’s misunderstanding.

Cheng Shangshi lifted both hands from the steering wheel in a gesture of surrender. “This is a house my family bought for me; I don’t live here often. I didn’t lie to you, and I really have no malicious intent.”

Wen Yan nodded. “Drive safe.”

One could earn a lot in the entertainment industry, and there were also many wealthy young masters experiencing life; Cheng Shangshi might be one of them.

He didn’t think too much about it and walked home by himself.

The door opened.

A person was sitting in the living room, holding a laptop and working. Hearing the sound, he likely looked up.

The face that was cold a second ago softened instantly, peach blossom eyes curving. “Baby, why are you back so late? It’s almost eleven.”

“The place was a bit far, hard to get a cab.”

Their interaction was natural, and Wen Yan reported his status naturally.

Even though the two had only exchanged a few sentences via chat all week.

Pei Zhouye placed the computer on the table and got up to go upstairs with him.

“Why didn’t you call Wu Men? He should have arranged a driver in advance. Or you could have just called me to pick you up.” Pei Zhouye frowned unhappily at the thought of Wen Yan waiting for a car outside so late.

Wen Yan heard the displeasure in his tone. “I didn’t tell him. It’s late; as long as I can get back myself, it’s fine.”

He couldn’t accept these things with a clear conscience; usually, if he didn’t have to contact Wu Men, he wouldn’t.

Pei Zhouye had transferred millions to his card, but he hadn’t touched it.

What he owed Pei Zhouye wasn’t just money; it was the various ways Pei Zhouye solved problems for him, blocked news, filled vacancies, and gave his father hope.

Pei Zhouye sensed Wen Yan’s low spirits and thought he was still unhappy about today’s events. “Don’t be angry, there won’t be a next time.”

“Or are you jealous?” He deliberately teased Wen Yan, his voice deep. “Lin Seran is Uncle Lin’s adopted son. Uncle Lin was kind to my dad and me, and I promised Uncle Lin I would take care of him. If you’re unhappy, I’ll interact with him less in the future.”

“I’m not!” Wen Yan finally lost his patience, picking up a cushion at hand and throwing it at Pei Zhouye. “You’re the sugar daddy, what right do I have to be angry?”

Pei Zhouye took the hit from the cushion, his smile growing wider. “Then give the sugar daddy a kiss.”

“Psycho!” Wen Yan stood up, his face red with anger. “I’m going to take a shower!”

Pei Zhouye didn’t make a sound but followed quietly, squeezing in before the bathroom door closed and locking it behind him.

Steam filled the bathroom.

Wen Yan, dizzy and confused, was truly angry. He thought, Next time I shower, I must close the door immediately.

Guard against fire, guard against theft, guard against Pei Zhouye.

Idiot who doesn’t understand human language.

After coming out of the bathroom and lying on the bed, Pei Zhouye took out several boxes from the bedside drawer and placed them by the bed.

Pei Zhouye knelt on one knee by the bed, plotting something again.

Wen Yan had no strength, turning his head away to avoid looking.

“Wife, be obedient.”

Pei Zhouye’s voice was hoarse, carrying heavy desire, his tone holding a faint threat.

Wen Yan turned his head back, puffing his cheeks in anger.

His gaze crashed into those deep, rippling peach blossom eyes, the smile holding a hint of boyishness.

Pei Zhouye took Wen Yan’s fair, slender fingers and devoutly pushed a ring slowly onto Wen Yan’s ring finger.

The slight weight and the sense of restriction on his finger were distinct at this moment.

“Wen Yan, be with me forever.”

“Wen Yan, I love you.”

Wen Yan was stunned for a moment. Pei Zhouye had already taken his hand to put another ring on his own hand.

Pei Zhouye took Wen Yan’s hand and placed it over his own heart. The vigorous, powerful heartbeat thumped beneath Wen Yan’s hand.

“Wen Yan, I heard it.”

“I heard you say you love me.”

Wen Yan snapped back to reality and pulled his hand away. The roots of his ears, already red, were now red enough to drip blood.

“Shameless.”
