Shocking The Madman Stole Someone Else’s Canary to be His Wife Chapter 62

Chapter 62: Don’t Be Nervous

On the outskirts of B City on Friday, the mountain villa was brightly lit in the twilight.

About a dozen people gathered at the entrance but didn’t go in. Standing at the door chatting, their gazes drifted, seemingly inadvertently, toward the Maybach that hadn’t opened its doors for a long time.

Inside the car, Wen Yan pushed against Pei Zhouye’s chest. “We’re here…”

Pei Zhouye’s kiss deepened a few degrees, only releasing him when Wen Yan’s breathing became disordered.

The car windows were specially treated so the outside couldn’t see the situation inside, but Wen Yan could clearly see every gaze cast from the outside.

“Don’t be nervous.” Pei Zhouye smiled, grinding his index and middle fingers against Wen Yan’s lips, reddened from the kiss, his Adam’s apple bobbing.

Wen Yan opened his mouth instinctively and immediately heard a low chuckle.

“Baby, not now. They’re all waiting.”

Wen Yan realized what happened, the tips of his ears burning red instantly. He wanted to explain but couldn’t say anything.

“Get out!”

Pei Zhouye pushed the door open first, turned around, and personally blocked the roof of the car to lead the person out.

This considerate gesture, bordering on servitude, stunned the group outside.

The young man getting out of the car lowered his eyelashes, his neck still flushed with a thin red, the well-draped fabric outlining a superior waistline.

Seeing that clear, cold, and outstanding face, several suppressed gasps rang out from the crowd.

Several people stared straight at him. Wang Shu was so stunned he almost bit his tongue. Isn’t this Wen Yan? The canary kept by Gu Yulan, the famous flower of the high mountains who fell into the mud.

Pei Zhouye swept a cold glance over them. Everyone hurriedly restrained their expressions, shouting “Sister-in-law” all at once.

Wen Yan could feel those probing gazes just now and was aware of the rumors about him among this group of people; he only felt embarrassed.

A two-million-yuan canary—it was a rumor before, but now it had become a fact.

The two walked into the villa, with a few people following behind.

At the back of the crowd, Chen Yuchen’s face was ashen.

He had originally planned to take over Wen Yan once Gu Yulan fell from grace, but the blind date partner arranged by his family, Min Yue, was too clingy, and he couldn’t shake her off for a while. Who would have thought that in the blink of an eye, Wen Yan would be with Pei Zhouye?

If he had known this would happen, he shouldn’t have cared about decency back then and should have snatched him directly from Gu Yulan. Now that Wen Yan was by Pei Zhouye’s side, he didn’t even have a chance to get close.

Chen Yuchen didn’t give up and asked Shen Yao in a low voice, “Doesn’t Brother Pei have mysophobia? Wen Yan was kept by Gu Yulan for a while…”

“Shut up, you,” Shen Yao interrupted him with a frown. “That’s all in the past. Is it your place to manage my brother’s affairs?”

Min Yue, standing nearby, clenched her handbag.

“Brother Yao, was that person really with Gu Yulan before? How long has he been with Brother Pei?” Min Yue asked indirectly from the side.

She had followed Chen Yuchen on this trip solely because she heard Pei Zhouye would be coming; otherwise, she wouldn’t have bothered to travel so far.

The rumored Pei Zhouye, who kept strangers away, seemed to only have room for one person in his eyes.

But men, especially heirs like the Pei family’s—how could there be only one man by his side?

Shen Yao saw the speaker was Min Yue and relaxed his guard a little.

Min Yue was Chen Yuchen’s blind date candidate, and it was likely to happen soon; the Min and Chen families had been cooperating a lot recently.

“Over a month, since September…” Shen Yao answered casually, then suddenly shut his mouth.

Min Yue wouldn’t let it go, covering her lips in feigned surprise. “Oh my, wasn’t that during Seran’s birthday party? Gu Yulan brought that person along too; they were so intimate then. I didn’t expect that now…”

Shen Yao’s face sank. Her words stopped just short of explicitly saying Wen Yan was fickle.

But back then, it was Pei Zhouye who actively wanted to be the homewrecker and poach him.

Shen Yao opened his mouth, not knowing how to refute, when Wang Shu yanked him back.

He then glanced sideways at Min Yue, smiling yet not smiling. “Miss Min, I advise you to inquire less about Brother Pei’s affairs. Some thoughts… weigh whether your family background is enough for you to play with first.”

The words carried thorns. Min Yue’s face changed slightly, and she shut her mouth resentfully.

Once the two walked a bit further away, Wang Shu spoke up.

“Watch out for those two.”

Shen Yao gritted his teeth, feeling a bit guilty. “Do you think I don’t know?”

In the evening, the villa arranged a barbecue.

The chef’s technique was good; the roast wasn’t greasy, making it suitable for dinner.

The autumn evening wind blew over, charcoal fire crackling with sparks. The open venue was lively.

Wen Yan sat in a chair watching the performance arranged by the villa.

Pei Zhouye draped the knitted cardigan he had asked someone to bring over Wen Yan’s shoulders.

“My brother really knows how to pamper people.” Shen Yao grinned, making a deliberate gesture and looking at Wang Shu. “Brother Wang Shu, I’m cold too.”

Wang Shu rolled his eyes. “Stay cold then.”

The corners of Wen Yan’s lips lifted in a shallow smile. His aloof and distant face became more vivid because of the beautiful smile, his eyes gentle.

Wearing the knitted cardigan, he looked less like the inviolable, holy figure he usually did.

Some people stole glances. Chen Yuchen watched with hot eyes, staring straight at him.

Min Yue, sitting next to him with a cold face, also stared at that spot, her gaze landing on Pei Zhouye’s superior side profile as he looked at Wen Yan.

Pei Zhouye knew people were looking over here. He was used to such gazes and didn’t care.

“Why are you even thinner than before?” He pinched Wen Yan’s waist, finding not an ounce of excess flesh. “Why can’t I fatten you up?”

Wen Yan was very patient today. He looked up helplessly, his eyes clear and light. “I’m already three pounds heavier than before. Also, can you not touch me randomly outside?”

Pei Zhouye raised his eyebrows slightly, his hand on his waist sliding down to touch him ambiguously. “This is called touching randomly.”

Wen Yan was provoked by him and turned his head away, ignoring him.

Having annoyed the person, Pei Zhouye lowered his head to coax him.

Under the lights, a song and dance troupe in ancient costumes sang and danced.

The decadent music was set against the laughter and chatter of the crowd.

“Car racing tomorrow afternoon, mountain climbing at night. Have fun tonight, sleep most of the day tomorrow.”

Wang Shu stood up, brushed the ash off his hands, and walked into the midst of the dancing girls.

Light gauze shawls brushed past his arms as the crowd naturally cleared a space for him.

Wang Shu smoothly took a girl’s wrist and led her in a standard ballroom dance step.

The music switched from ancient style to fast-paced jazz, and the dance troupe in Hanfu was replaced by a group of girls in modified cheongsams.

Some people found dance partners; others danced with the boyfriends or girlfriends they brought along.

The corners of Pei Zhouye’s lips lifted slightly as he took Wen Yan’s hand.

Wen Yan was a little nervous. He placed his hand in that hand, his voice very small. “I don’t know how to dance the female steps.”

He had learned the male steps temporarily during a university activity and had stepped on his partner’s feet several times back then.

“I know how.” Pei Zhouye had already taken Wen Yan’s hand and started dancing to the rhythm.

Wen Yan had been in low spirits for a long time. Today, he was rarely in a good mood; right now, even if he wanted the stars in the sky, Pei Zhouye would give them to him.

Besides, it was just dancing the female steps—what was wrong with that?

Gazes from all around suddenly focused on them. Some even stopped dancing to look over.

Young Master Pei, who had never bowed his head, dancing the female steps for love—big news.

Wang Shu couldn’t hold back; a whistle had just escaped half a note when Shen Yao elbowed him hard. He reacted immediately and shut up.

With so many people staring, Wen Yan felt even more nervous and ashamed, missing two beats in a row.

Pei Zhouye’s smile didn’t change. After a note, he clasped his waist and pulled him into his arms.

The moment the music stopped abruptly, Wen Yan fell off guard into the crook of his arm.

His lower back was held steadily. Wen Yan looked up and met the smile filling Pei Zhouye’s eyes.

Applause and cheers exploded.
