Shocking The Madman Stole Someone Else’s Canary to be His Wife Chapter 8

Chapter 8: What Do You Like About Him

The silent standoff lasted until evening.

Wen Yan said he forgave him, telling himself it was Photoshop and camera angles, but he still couldn’t get over that hurdle in his heart.

In the evening, Gu Yulan said he wanted to go to a restaurant with Wen Yan for dinner.

Pei Zhouye followed closely. He couldn’t stand seeing Wen Yan eating with another man, walking together, or even talking together!

But that person was still Wen Yan’s boyfriend. Even if he didn’t want to watch, he had to keep his eyes on them.

If there were any intimate moves, he would interrupt them regardless of the consequences.

He had countless ways to separate Gu Yulan and Wen Yan, but they were all defeated by a single sentence: “I believe you.”

Wen Yan was willing to be with Gu Yulan. Wen Yan liked him; even if that person was a jerk, he liked him.

If he forced them apart, Wen Yan wouldn’t let go.

Pei Zhouye was unwilling to let Wen Yan hold a torch for anyone in his heart. He would tolerate it for at most one month; he would make Wen Yan and Gu Yulan break up.

Inside the restaurant.

As soon as the two sat down, Gu Yulan’s phone rang.

Wen Yan stared at Gu Yulan’s phone, thinking, Is Gu Yulan leaving again this time?

Seeing Wen Yan’s gaze, Gu Yulan smiled and turned off his phone.

“In case there really is something…” Wen Yan was startled by Gu Yulan’s action and wanted to persuade him.

Gu Yulan took Wen Yan’s hand and placed it in his large palm, letting them feel each other’s pulse.

He looked at Wen Yan, his eyes smiling. “There is nothing that can’t wait for the duration of a meal. What’s more, this is my time with you.”

“Yan-yan, with me, you are number one.”

Wen Yan asked in confusion, “Didn’t your brother fall into a coma a while ago?”

“I’m not a doctor.” Gu Yulan’s smile widened. “Can the time it takes to eat a meal let me perform surgery on him?”

If that person died, he would be even happier.

Wen Yan acknowledged this, withdrew his hand, and rubbed his hands together, looking the other way.

Gu Yulan saw the tips of Wen Yan’s ears turning red and smiled dotingly.

Wen Yan was too easily shy.

After ordering, Wen Yan spoke to Gu Yulan.

“Recently, I always feel like a pair of eyes is watching me.” He paused. “It’s scary.”

Gu Yulan: “Do you want to move in with me? I have several properties in Jiang City. Take a look and see which one you like, and we’ll move in.”

“Or I can move into your rental to accompany you.”

Wen Yan shook his head hurriedly. “No need, living alone is fine.”

His rental conditions were average, but compared to where Gu Yulan usually lived, it would definitely be a world of difference.

Besides, he didn’t want to cohabit so soon.

Gu Yulan laughed, his tone pampering. “You’re being like this again.”

Wen Yan followed with a faint smile.

They seemed like a couple with compatible souls, or like friends who had known each other for a long time.

Wen Yan felt relaxed and happy in this moment.

Wen Yan got up and left the table to go to the washroom.

Cool water flowed from the tap, washing over Wen Yan’s long, slender fingers. Wen Yan finished washing his hands and looked up, suddenly seeing the figure of the person behind him in the mirror.

Pei Zhouye. It was Pei Zhouye again.

Seeing this face reminded him of that unspeakable dream. Wen Yan felt ashamed and embarrassed. He avoided Pei Zhouye’s gaze, not planning to greet him, and prepared to leave.

His path was blocked.

Wen Yan was forced to look up. He suddenly realized that perhaps because of that dream, his body would turn hot and soft if he got too close to Pei Zhouye.

He hurriedly took two steps back.

Pei Zhouye looked at Wen Yan’s instantly flushed face and finally smiled.

Wen Yan didn’t see the smile at the corner of Pei Zhouye’s lips. “Long time no see, Pei Shao. My boyfriend is still waiting for me, I’m leaving first.”

His wrist was suddenly grabbed. Wen Yan was slow for a few seconds before struggling fiercely. “What are you doing? I’m going to shout!”

This was the restaurant’s washroom; people were coming and going. He didn’t want others to misunderstand.

“What do you like about him?” The anger Pei Zhouye had been suppressing finally exploded when every sentence Wen Yan spoke included the word “boyfriend.” His voice was very low, but his grip wasn’t heavy.

“None of your business!” Wen Yan shook his hand vigorously. The other’s strength was great and steady, holding him firmly. His little struggle was useless against him. “Let go! I’m really going to shout!”

Pei Zhouye chuckled softly. Wen Yan slowly looked up, and seeing the smile on Pei Zhouye’s lips, his heart skipped a beat.

For young masters like them, Pei Zhouye’s wicked love of bullying people was the norm. It was Gu Yulan—treating him so well, with such a gentle and approachable personality—who was the rarity.

Pei Zhouye saw Wen Yan zoning out and got even more annoyed. “No one will come even if you shout.”

Wen Yan looked around and finally noticed that in that short while, not a single person had walked by. No one came in from outside either.

He was a little afraid. This feeling of being controlled was very familiar.

“You like him even though he treats you so poorly? Tell me what you like about him, and I’ll let you go.”

“I like everything.” Wen Yan didn’t know whether to trust his words, but under the circumstances, there was no other way. “He’s gentle, treats me well, respects me. Is that enough?”

Pei Zhouye kept his promise and let go.

Wen Yan lowered his head and left hurriedly.

Pei Zhouye stood in place, watching Wen Yan’s retreating figure.

He treats you like a caged bird; I view you as a rare treasure.

He was certain he could do the latter two, and as for the first one… if Wen Yan was willing, he could fake it too.

But as for Gu Yulan, I’m afraid not a single one of the three is truly accurate.

That dog occupying the magpie’s nest.

When Wen Yan came out, Gu Yulan was fiddling with his phone.

Seeing him return, he immediately put the phone away.

“Why were you gone so long?”

Wen Yan’s wrist had a red ring around it. Gu Yulan frowned.

Wen Yan decided to tell the truth. “I ran into Pei Zhouye. He was very strange.”

Gu Yulan was stunned for a few seconds. “Then let’s stay far away from him in the future.”

Wen Yan pursed his lips. “Okay.”

He was already far away from Pei Zhouye. He wouldn’t have come into contact with someone like Pei Zhouye anyway.

The dishes had all been served. While the two were eating, someone nearby suddenly raised their voice deliberately.

“Yuqing, isn’t this your younger brother?”

Gu Yulan and Wen Yan looked toward the source of the voice at the same time.

Three people were sitting together. The one in the middle bore a resemblance to Gu Yulan between the brows.

Gu Yuqing’s tone was very cold, his expression filled with disgust. “He is not my brother.”

The person next to him chuckled and looked at Wen Yan. “Nice taste. Is that the one from A University? How much for a night to make him follow you?”

Gu Yuqing gave a contemptuous low laugh. “Two million.”

Gu Yulan’s face looked terrible. He subconsciously looked at Wen Yan. Wen Yan’s expression wasn’t good, but he still held his hand comfortingly.

The expression on the face of the person next to them was mocking as he looked at Wen Yan frivolously. “That expensive! Then the equipment must be worth the price…”

A lewd smile still hung on the man’s face when suddenly, a hand with distinct knuckles clamped onto the back of his neck from the side. With a bang, his face was pressed onto the table. The glass on the table jumped from the shock.
