Part 3
And four of them were A-level mental strength experts.
Mr. Xu’s legs gave out, and he collapsed to the ground with a thud. “I-I was blind to not recognize Mount Tai… Young Master Ning, spare me! Let me go! I was just following orders!”
Ning Yunyi stepped over the bodyguards and stopped in front of him. “Following orders? Then whose orders were you following?”
Mr. Xu’s face twitched, showing hesitation. “This…”
Ning Yunyi sneered. “What, still dreaming of wealth and glory? Let me tell you this: if you talk, I’ll spare your life; if not, this place is so remote, do you think anyone would bother looking for a missing person on a garbage star?”
Mr. Xu was utterly terrified. Back when that person devised this plan, they had also considered the chaotic nature of this place. Even if something went wrong, no one would investigate. That’s how they tricked him here, using outsiders to try and kill him.
On this garbage star, a few missing people would never raise suspicion.
“I-I don’t even know who that person is. He always gave orders through Mr. Ji. Mr. Ji was the one who contacted me. All I know is that the person comes from a prominent family on the First Star.” Mr. Xu was trembling all over, clearly panicked, afraid that Ning Yunyi wouldn’t believe him.
Ning Yunyi demanded to see the chat logs on Mr. Xu’s wristband.
After checking, he indeed only found conversations between Mr. Xu and “Mr. Ji.”
Mr. Ji had only passed on the orders and never revealed the person’s whereabouts or identity.
But as long as he had the ID, tracing the person would be child’s play for Ning Yunyi.
Ning Yunyi tapped Mr. Xu’s face with the wristband and asked, “Do you know where Ji Hao is now?”
Mr. Xu paled, carefully shaking his head, fearing that this answer would displease Ning Yunyi and lead to immediate violence.
Ning Yunyi waved the wristband. “So, you’re giving this to me?”
Mr. Xu’s face grew even paler. The wristband contained all his personal information, including his ID! But seeing Ning Yunyi’s smiling face, he didn’t hesitate to nod. “Of course, of course!”
Ning Yunyi stood up straight, looking down at Mr. Xu without expression. Then, he raised his foot and crushed Mr. Xu’s wrist.
Mr. Xu let out a pig-like scream before Ning Yunyi immediately silenced him.
Mr. Xu stared wide-eyed in terror: Didn’t he promise to spare his life?
Ning Yunyi said, “I said I’d spare your life. I never said I’d let you off so easily. You’ve messed with me twice. Crippling one of your arms and one of your legs is fair, right? Of course, if you’re not satisfied, feel free to come back next time. Let’s see if your remaining limbs will hold up.”
He smiled as he spoke.
The smile was radiant and dazzling, but in Mr. Xu’s eyes, it was like that of a demon.
No, no! Who would dare provoke this madman again?
Crippling someone’s limbs like it was nothing—this guy was worse than star pirates!
After Ning Yunyi crippled Mr. Xu, the twenty bodyguards, trembling and enduring their pain, quickly scrambled to their feet and dragged Mr. Xu away like a dead dog at Ning Yunyi’s command.
The group of twenty-one fled in a panic, not daring to linger for fear of being the next to lose their limbs.
Losing mental strength only turned you into a cripple, but losing your limbs made you a crippled cripple.
With a loud *bang*, the villa’s gate closed, and the courtyard returned to peace, as if nothing had happened.
Except, now Ning Yunyi had an extra wristband in his hand.
He carried the wristband into the living room, tossed it aside, washed his hands, and then scooped Ning Xiaomiao into his arms. “Were you scared?”
He pinched the little face, which had been icy cold earlier but was now warm again.
It seemed everything was fine now.
The little one obediently sat on Ning Yunyi’s lap, his small head nestled against his neck, shaking his head.
He was still not used to speaking, having relied on gestures to communicate before, and had only recently started speaking.
Ning Yunyi wasn’t in a hurry. After a few tests, it was clear his speech was no longer hindered.
But after the recent events, the little cub was exhausted and soon fell asleep in Ning Yunyi’s arms.
Ning Yunyi coaxed him into a nap, then went downstairs, with Big Cat silently following close behind.
Seeing this, Ning Yunyi ruffled Big Cat’s head. “Good job today protecting your master. You’ll get an extra meal tonight.”
Rewards and punishments had to be fair for a good master.
Big Cat pretended not to hear the word “master” and lay down next to Ning Yunyi’s chair.
Ning Yunyi picked up Mr. Xu’s wristband and pulled up the chat logs with Ji Hao.
Ji Hao was the so-called “friend” who had tricked the original owner out of all his star coins. The Ning and Ji families were neighbors and both prominent families, so the two had a close relationship.
Ji Hao was an unappreciated son of the Ji family, but he had always presented himself as sunny, cheerful, and talkative. He had followed the original owner around, acting as his protector, which is why the original had trusted him so much.
But in the face of profit, this so-called childhood friend had dealt him a fatal blow.
Ning Yunyi expressionlessly opened his own wristband, activated a program, and linked the two wristbands.
Then, he sent a message through the chatbox.
[Xu: Caught him.]
Ning Yunyi waited patiently. Less than ten minutes later, a reply came through.
[Mr. Ji: Really? Well done! Send me more pictures later, the worse, the better. Once confirmed, I’ll send the rest of the payment right away.]
Ning Yunyi didn’t respond immediately but instead looked at his own wristband.
As soon as Ji Hao replied, the black screen flickered. Ning Yunyi quickly typed something, and soon the black interface flashed again, and a window popped up.
[Target Locked: Garbage Star, F Zone, Underground City Auction House, 3rd Floor, VIP Reception Area]
Ning Yunyi closed his wristband and sent a reply.
[Xu: Sending pictures is boring. I’ll deliver him to you personally.]
[Mr. Ji: ???]
Ji Hao clearly didn’t understand. He had never told Mr. Xu his whereabouts, so he didn’t understand what Mr. Xu meant by “personally deliver.”
Ning Yunyi ignored him and closed the chat window.
He was in a good mood. He had thought Ji Hao had run off with the star coins long ago, but it turned out he was still here, hiding in the Underground City.
It seemed something in the Underground City was keeping him here.
Well, they could settle the old score and the new one together.
Ning Yunyi stood up, and Big Cat rose with him.
Ning Yunyi ruffled Big Cat’s head, enjoying the feeling, before tugging on its ears and saying, “I’ll be gone for a while. Can you watch the house?”
Big Cat thought about the address it had just seen. If it had been before, it might have been worried, but after seeing Ning Yunyi in action, it no longer felt he needed protection.
Big Cat, remembering its mission to stay behind, nodded its large head.
Satisfied, Ning Yunyi went upstairs, set up barriers throughout the second floor, and left an audio message in the study for the little cub. Only then did he head downstairs.
Before leaving, he changed into a new outfit: a black, oversized hoodie that covered his entire body, a messy wig that hid most of his face, and dark-gold contact lenses that masked his black pupils. A fake blue beard covered the lower half of his face.
When Ning Yunyi descended the stairs, Big Cat immediately became alert, but soon, after sniffing the familiar scent, it froze: ??
Ning Yunyi chuckled at its reaction and ruffled its fur as he walked past. “Take good care of the house.”
It wasn’t until he had completely left that Big Cat snapped back to reality: !!!
Ning Yunyi thought about Big Cat’s shocked expression and stroked the fake, bristly beard on his chin. It seemed the disguise was quite effective.
Even the little cat cub, his own son, might not recognize him face to face.
Ning Yunyi spent nearly two hours on the spaceship before arriving at Area F. The spaceship landed directly at the entrance of the underground city.
The Garbage Star is a collective term for the most chaotic lower-tier planets among thousands in the interstellar realm, and within these planets, Area F is the most mixed and confusing.
The underground city is the largest gathering place in Area F. It serves as both a den of iniquity and a fast source for information, as well as a venue for unexpected auctions.
Among the items, energy crystals are the easiest to find.
These crystals can enhance mental power and sometimes appear on the Garbage Star, but they are quickly snatched up.
Jí Hào hadn’t left for a long time and was still in the underground city. Ning Yunyi suspected that there was an auction for high-quality energy crystals today.
At the entrance, he was stopped by someone: “Do you have an invitation?”
