Chapter 26: The Big Transformation of a Little Bunny part 1
Ning Yunyi thought that with Bai Chengzhu’s imposing appearance, Bai Shaozhu would at least be a fierce beast.
The mental outburst was related to one’s own spiritual power. To have reached Level 6 and still continue upward, Bai Shaozhu’s spiritual power must have been substantial beforehand.
But what did he see?
In the wooden cabin hidden in the jungle, amidst a patch of glowing green, a small snow-white ball nestled on top, standing out sharply.
It was barely bigger than the palm of a hand. The tiny head was buried into a ball, the long ears flopped down on both sides. The entire creature occasionally let out a furious roar due to the outburst, its fluffy body trembling slightly.
Suddenly, the little rabbit seemed to sense something, abruptly raising its head. Its sharp animal eyes were fierce, its rabbit teeth bared threateningly, and it faced Ning Yunyi’s direction with a low growl of warning.
But the small ball, barely bigger than a palm, with its long ears slightly puffed up from agitation—one ear drooping down, and the other standing up—made a mockingly fierce leap forward with its front paws.
The trembling fluffy fur shook, giving off an air of what could only be described as “adorably fierce.”
Ning Yunyi stared at the fiercely cute little rabbit, his eyes fixated. His gaze traveled from the long, soft ears down to the sleek, well-maintained fur, and finally landed on the short tail.
This was truly unexpected.
Who would have thought that Bai Chengzhu, a large and imposing figure, would have a son whose beast form was… a little bunny.
Bai Chengzhu noticed Ning Yunyi standing there, not moving, and walked over. “Is there a problem?”
Ning Yunyi rubbed his nose and took another look inside, catching a glimpse of Bai Shaozhu—a fluffy ball the size of a palm—instinctively curling up again. He couldn’t help but glance at Bai Chengzhu.
Could it be that Bai Chengzhu was also…?
That image—he didn’t dare imagine.
Bai Chengzhu finally realized what Ning Yunyi was thinking. An uncommon look of discomfort flashed across his face. “I’m not.”
Ning Yunyi didn’t press further. So, it must be the other side then.
Bai Chengzhu looked at his son, who was once again curled up in pain. “Sir, are you sure you can suppress it?”
Ning Yunyi replied calmly, “Naturally.” To him, this level of difficulty wasn’t much, especially since Bai Chengzhu’s efforts over the years hadn’t been entirely in vain.
Although Bai Shaozhu’s mental outburst was severe, it hadn’t affected his body.
Bai Chengzhu let out a sigh of relief, his gaze falling despondently on the wooden cabin. “Since you’ve seen it, I won’t hide it from you. He’s a half-beast. They say he’s gifted, born with formidable combat power. But I would rather he were just an ordinary person.”
Half-beasts were rare. Each one could be trained into a sharp blade, but the same went for the brutal, inhumane training required to develop such potential.
Even if parents were unwilling, once exposed, they would be forcibly taken away.
But how could Bai Chengzhu bear it? The enormous achievements came at a cost so horrific that ordinary people couldn’t even begin to imagine.
From the moment his son was born, he gave up everything he had and settled on this remote planet, just so his child wouldn’t have to walk that path.
They had lived peacefully for so long, but in the end, they couldn’t escape the side effects brought on by powerful mental strength.
The stronger the spiritual power, the more prone the mental sea was to outbursts, even proportional to one’s level.
The higher the level, the more severe the outbursts became.
At first, it was still controllable, but in the last two years, it had become increasingly hard to suppress.
Until recently, the mental outburst reached Level 6.
If they didn’t find a solution soon, once it reached Level 7, there would be no way out but death.
Bai Chengzhu looked at Ning Yunyi. He couldn’t see through this young man, but at this point, he had no choice but to gamble.
“Since you’ve hidden your identity, you don’t wish for others to know who you are or where you come from. I won’t ask, as long as you can save my son. Whatever you ask for, I will do my utmost to fulfill it.” He was a man of his word. Once a promise was made, he would spare no effort in fulfilling it.
Ning Yunyi’s impression of Bai Chengzhu improved. “There’s no need for such formality, Bai Chengzhu. I’ve already mentioned my terms. They won’t involve you or Bai Shaozhu’s safety. Time is short; shall we begin?”
Bai Chengzhu hesitated. “I need to prepare some protective measures. If you enter the wooden cabin, A’Cheng will likely attack you immediately.”
Ning Yunyi gazed at the wooden cabin. “No need for all that trouble. I won’t be going inside.”
Bai Chengzhu was stunned. “What?” How could he treat him without entering?
Ning Yunyi replied, “You’ll see soon enough. But one session won’t be enough. It will take several days.”
These words were meant for Bai Chengzhu. If Ning Yunyi were to go all out, he could have immediately brought the outburst down to below Level 4. But based on what An Dong had mentioned earlier about Xun Xun’s situation, even 3S-level healers couldn’t continuously lower outburst levels. He had no intention of exposing his true capabilities.
At most, he would come a few more times, making it more secure and aligning with his public persona as a dual-S-level healer.
Bai Chengzhu was still in a daze. Based on his understanding of all the high-level healers across the galaxy, none could heal without making physical contact.
But it was clear this young man didn’t belong to that group.
Bai Chengzhu chose to remain silent. Whether it could be cured or not, they would soon find out when the young man made his move.
Ning Yunyi had to return to his livestream later, so he simply stepped forward, placing his palm on the wooden cabin. From the space, he manipulated a spiritual energy orb as a disguise, allowing a layer of spiritual power to visibly envelop him.
From his palm, spiritual energy flowed out like invisible threads, effortlessly penetrating the barriers set up by Bai Chengzhu, reaching the small, curled-up rabbit.
Ever since Bai Shaozhu’s mental outburst reached Level 6, he had been enduring constant pain. The kind of pain that felt like it was ripping his brain apart.
It felt as though something was gnawing at his mental sea. At first, he had suppressed it to avoid worrying his father, but soon, it became unbearable.
He feared this uncontrollable version of himself and feared losing control and hurting others.
He thought it would be better to die or self-destruct, but the consequences of such actions held him back.
The pain deepened day by day, making his life a living hell.
To prevent himself from losing control, he could only stay in this specially designed wooden cabin, without freedom, day and night.
He didn’t even know when the pain would eventually kill him.
After days of sleepless agony, he felt on the verge of collapse.
As Bai Shaozhu endured this endless torment, suddenly, something seemed to wrap around his limbs, then his ears. It felt like an invisible net enveloping him entirely.
In the next moment, a flood of warmth invaded his entire body. The excruciating pain, like thousands of needles stabbing at his mind and body, slowly began to fade away.
Until he no longer felt any pain, he opened his eyes in disbelief. Exhaustion quickly overtook him, and he fell asleep.
Bai Chengzhu had been watching the cabin closely. He noticed that not long after the young man released his spiritual power, his son, who had been trembling and growling in pain, suddenly froze.
Bai Chengzhu could hardly believe it. Was he no longer shaking? Could it be that the pain had subsided?
He pressed his entire face against the window, trying to get a clearer view.
The next moment, an even more unbelievable scene unfolded before his eyes. The noticeable small ball inside the cabin not only stopped trembling but also spread out its limbs. The short tail lay flat on the ground, and the long ears drooped at its sides. Its breathing was steady—it had… fallen asleep?
Bai Chengzhu’s eyes turned red. Ever since the mental outburst reached Level 6, his son hadn’t closed his eyes once due to the pain. And now, he was actually able to sleep?
