Chapter 31: If You’re Not Convinced, Let’s Fight part 1
Young Master Bai pressed his lips together tightly. He hadn’t expected his casual remark to actually become a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Before the Star Pirates entered the interior of their spaceship, Young Master Bai lowered his voice and instructed, “I have S-rank Spiritual Power. You guys try not to stand out later. I’ll find an opportunity to cover your escape.”
Usually, he joked around and accepted being called ‘Nephew,’ but in terms of age, he was the oldest in the group. He had to take responsibility.
Besides, look at the other three: a healer who couldn’t fight, a milk-drinking cub a few years old, and a Big Cat with no Spiritual Power.
Young Master Bai suddenly felt a wave of mission and duty washing over him. He had to protect this nest of the young, the weak, and the disabled.
Ning Yunyi watched as Young Master Bai clenched his fists, looking ready to fight to the death. “Do you know how many Star Pirates are outside?”
Young Master Bai counted carefully. “From our window, there seem to be over twenty.”
Ning Yunyi shook his head. “There are fifty in total. Apart from ten who are S-rank Spiritual Power users, the other forty are all A-rank.”
Young Master Bai froze in place, looking at him in disbelief. “Are they sick? There are less than sixty of us in total, and not all of us are Spiritual Power users. Why send so many? What do they want?”
Initially, he wanted to fight, but hearing there were ten S-ranks, let alone fighting, he estimated he’d be laid out flat the moment he went up.
Ning Yunyi guessed a possibility. “This ship’s destination is the First Star. The people going there either have business there or are originally from there. This entire spaceship has a phrase written on it: We are all Fat Sheep.”
Young Master Bai thought of his entire net worth that his old father had transferred to him before he left.
He swallowed hard. “Do you think… if I transfer the assets back to Old Bai now, is it still too late?”
Ning Yunyi had an ominous premonition. “How much did City Lord Bai transfer to you?”
Young Master Bai silently looked up at the ceiling. “Probably… everything.”
Ning Yunyi: “…”
As the two fell silent, the door to the inner cabin was violently breached. The sound of the isolation seal breaking came through clearly. The leader of the Star Pirates was a bearded man, laughing loudly as he walked in carrying a large blade.
The minions behind him split into two rows to clear the path, shouting as they entered, “If you don’t want to die, stay in your seats! Anyone who dares to move gets thrown out of the ship!”
That would be a dead end.
Ning Yunyi moved Ning Xiao Miao to the inner side, next to the Big Cat. Young Master Bai quickly filled the empty seat in the middle.
The closer he was, the better he could protect the father and son.
This flight to the First Star wasn’t full, but there were still quite a few people—57 passengers in total, plus one exotic beast.
The Star Pirate leader led a dozen minions inside, looking with satisfaction at the crowd who didn’t dare move from their seats.
The dozen minions immediately began checking the luggage from the front row with a clatter.
Young Master Bai craned his neck to peek, then looked down at his wristband which showed no reaction. His face turned even uglier. “They’ve set up a jammer inside this large spaceship.”
This cut off their retreat; they were terrified the passengers would contact the outside world.
Were they really going to die at the hands of this group, or be driven off to mine energy ore?
Or maybe his secret of being a half-beast would be discovered, and he’d be sold directly.
Ning Yunyi had noticed the Star Pirates checking wristbands earlier. Hearing this, he hummed a confirmation. “Don’t act rashly. Play it by ear.”
Young Master Bai obediently nestled into his chair. If he didn’t know how formidable these Star Pirates were, he might have attacked rashly.
Without any assurance of victory, making a move would just be seeking death.
The people on the spaceship were clearly wealthy. Thinking that spending money could avoid disaster, they didn’t stop the pirates from checking and snatching their luggage.
The Star Pirate leader became increasingly smug. “See that? A preliminary cleanup is necessary. I specifically checked; on this ship, aside from one S-rank and ten A-ranks, the rest aren’t even worth mentioning.”
Rich and without combat power—they were sitting ducks.
They wouldn’t even need to waste a single soldier.
The minions also praised their boss’s brilliance.
Soon, they reached Ning Yunyi’s row. Seeing Young Master Bai’s delicate, ‘pretty boy’ appearance, the leader scoffed, “You guys are together?”
Young Master Bai eyed him warily but nodded in admission.
The Star Pirate leader laughed loudly, taking out a device to compare. “So you’re the only S-rank Spiritual Power user in this group? Tsk tsk, look at these thin arms and legs. Doesn’t look like it.”
Young Master Bai didn’t make a sound. He watched as the minions dragged out the two large suitcases he had brought. As soon as they opened them, the minions gasped. “Boss! It’s definitely fat! It’s full of good stuff.”
There were even several high-level energy crystals.
These were priceless treasures.
The Star Pirate leader’s eyes lit up too. He shoved two minions aside. “I’ll handle the rest!”
If two boxes were this valuable, the remaining two must be worth a fortune as well.
As he spoke, he reached past Ning Yunyi to grab the two rattan chests on the inside.
Little Xiao Miao instinctively gripped the handle of the chest with his small hand. His little robot was inside.
The little cub’s eyes turned red; that was a gift from his father.
The Big Cat also frowned, guarding the Little Meow Cub more tightly.
The Star Pirate leader became even more convinced there was good stuff inside. He was about to yank it away violently when Ning Yunyi gently covered Ning Xiao Miao’s hand with his palm before he could, shaking his head at the boy.
Ning Xiao Miao then let go, allowing himself to be gathered into his father’s arms, staring at the rattan chest with red-rimmed eyes.
The Star Pirate leader rubbed his hands together excitedly and opened it carefully. However, when he opened the first one, inside was the cheapest, most common type of disposable, scrap-metal robot.
The Star Pirate leader laughed in anger. “A broken robot… why are you treasuring this so much?”
Ning Yunyi didn’t get angry. He explained slowly and methodically, “This is the first gift I gave to the child, so naturally, it’s treasured a bit more. Our valuable things are all in the first two boxes.”
The Star Pirate leader didn’t believe him at all. But when he opened the second rattan chest, his face turned green. “Are you people sick in the head? You pay such an expensive ticket price, and your luggage consists of a broken robot and… three food basins?”
Ning Yunyi said, “Those belong to our Big Cat. It’s nostalgic and only likes to eat nutrient solution from these big basins.”
The Star Pirate leader glanced at the sleek, shiny Big Cat. That fluffy fur… it was obviously fed on exotic beast meat. Drinking nutrient solution? Who are you kidding?
Exotic beast meat wasn’t cheap—a hundred Star Coins a catty. With three basins this size, how much meat did it consume every day?
The Star Pirate leader signaled his minions with a look: focus on these two.
Checking the luggage beforehand was also to see who the fattest of the fat sheep were. They would take these people first, force out all their assets, and then contact their families to squeeze every last drop of wealth out of them.
As for the ones who weren’t fat enough, there was no need to waste effort. After stripping them clean in the first round, they’d be thrown directly out of the spaceship, sending them to the afterlife.
Soon, a ship full of people was herded off.
Ning Yunyi, the three humans, and one cat followed low-key off the spaceship and arrived at the center of the Star Pirates’ large ship.
It was massive, fully a thousand square meters, and very empty.
They were divided into two groups, left and right. One group had more people; they were the ones deemed ‘not fat enough.’
Ning Yunyi’s group had fewer people but belonged to the ‘fat enough’ category.
Coincidentally, all the high-level Spiritual Power users from the ship were in this group.
The Star Pirate leader was amused. He waved his hand, and immediately subordinates stepped forward to tie up the group without Spiritual Power one by one and throw them into a corner.
