Part 3
City Lord White smacked him on the head. “It won’t delay your meal!” What a sin. Who would have thought the brat who had zero interest in food would suddenly crave this stuff?
But thinking of the taste of the canned food, he also had high expectations for the skewers and braised meat.
Ning Yunyi didn’t stop them. Young Master Bai would run back on time without needing to be called anyway.
He began preparing for the livestream later.
Because City Lord White had come, he added a few more dishes. Thinking of the Big Cat’s fluffy texture earlier, and the fact that the White father and son had just revisited sad memories and needed some dessert, he prepared a portion of Cloud Cake for everyone, topped with a thick layer of cream.
City Lord White and Young Master Bai got rabbit-shaped ones.
The two house pets got ones shaped like the little kitten cub.
When Ning Yunyi finished the livestream and brought out the two cat-shaped Cloud Cakes, the kitten cub was hugging the Big Cat. The little guy was frozen in place, bewitched by the sweet aroma.
Since his father had fully sealed the kitchen two days ago, no smells leaked out during the livestream.
But can we eat sweet cake today?
Zong Hao’s sense of smell was getting better as he slowly recovered. Smelling the cake, which was exceptionally sweet and mixed with the special aroma of cream and fresh fruit, he and the kitten cub quickly dashed in to help.
Big Brother Ning returned with the White father and son.
Young Master Bai didn’t mention Big Brother Ning’s identity; Old White didn’t necessarily need to know.
Big Brother Ning was frank, however. When he arrived at the table, he calmly removed his red wig and mask.
City Lord White was raising his glass to toast his “Brother”. Noticing Big Brother Ning’s movement, he subconsciously glanced, looked away, and then—swish—looked back, eyes wide and round.
Big Brother Ning looked back calmly. Confirmed, biological father and son.
The arc of their widened eyes was exactly the same.
Big Brother Ning even asked thoughtfully, “Does Mr. White have a question?”
City Lord White was in a daze: Good heavens, big question, okay? So my Brother’s surname is actually Ning?
City Lord White quickly comforted himself, immediately raising his glass and smacking his lips. “I’ll use water instead of wine to toast my Brother and Brother’s Brother. If it weren’t for your care these past days, Ah Cheng… I won’t say more. I’ll drink this down first.”
He learned this from ancient books. When he was young, he had the fortune to drink grape wine once at the Imperial Palace. He heard there were only a few bottles in the palace. It was sour and astringent, but after drinking it, he felt dizzy and couldn’t describe the feeling, but the ancient books said it was good stuff.
Hearing City Lord White mention alcohol, Ning Yunyi raised an eyebrow in surprise. “Brother White has had it before?”
City Lord White chuckled. “I had the fortune to drink a small sip.”
He used to do all kinds of business and had some talent. Once, he followed the old Duke to a palace banquet and drank that tiny sip.
Ning Yunyi thought for a moment, asked them to wait, then pretended to go upstairs to get something. He removed the outer packaging and brought down a bottle of grape wine with low alcohol content.
When Ning Yunyi placed the wine bottle on the table, City Lord White sucked in a breath. Good heavens, Brother even has this?
Ning Yunyi simply poured out the water in City Lord White’s cup and poured him a glass of grape wine.
City Lord White’s hands were trembling.
As the wine flowed into the glass, a pure, unique aroma of alcohol instantly filled the air, mixed with the scent of fruit. It was a smell unlike anything he had ever encountered.
As for that sip at the palace banquet, City Lord White only wanted to say: What was that? Its fragrance wasn’t even a thousandth of this.
Ning Yunyi poured another glass for Young Master Bai, who was starry-eyed with anticipation. At least he’s over thirty, he can drink.
He also poured a glass for Big Brother Ning.
The grape wine he chose had a low alcohol content; one glass should be fine.
Just as he finished pouring and was about to put the bottle away, the kitten cub anxiously propped up his little body, holding his own cup. “Father!” Me! What about me! Father forgot me!
Ning Yunyi coughed lightly. “Children can’t drink.”
The little guy instantly wilted. “Father…”
Ning Yunyi: “After we eat, there are grapes. This stuff is made from grapes.”
The kitten cub’s eyes widened instantly, and he nodded his little head vigorously.
Ning Yunyi glanced at the Big Cat, who had also straightened his front legs on the table edge, looking at him expectantly with beast eyes. He gently reached out, touched the tips of his ears, and ruthlessly rejected him. “You can’t either.”
Zong Hao: “…”
Ning Yunyi took in all his expressions before speaking, “You eat grapes with the cub.”
Only then did Zong Hao flick his tail and bury his head to eat.
City Lord White carefully took a sip. The moment it entered his mouth, his whole body stiffened. The next moment, unable to resist, he downed it in one gulp and let out a satisfied breath.
Although the alcohol content was low, having rarely drunk before, he felt woozy after just one gulp. Subconsciously, he picked up the nearest dish—pan-fried tofu.
One bite of tofu, and City Lord White froze on the spot. He chewed again subconsciously to make sure he wasn’t dreaming.
He sat there dazed, then suddenly buried his head, his chopsticks moving so fast they left afterimages.
The only spare glance he had was reserved for his son, glaring angrily: Good heavens, I treat you as my good cub, and you hide such good things without telling your old father?
Rebellious son!
No wonder his cheeks are chubby like that. Boo hoo, if it were me, I could eat until the end of time too.
Young Master Bai grinned. “This is nothing. Wait until this afternoon when you follow me to the store. I’ll grill skewers for you personally!”
City Lord White turned a deaf ear. The afternoon meal was the afternoon meal; he had to make up for this meal first.
Young Master Bai laughed at his father, but also curiously tasted the wine. The unique texture made him down it in one go.
Smacking his lips—delicious.
By the time the meal was over, everyone was holding a piece of Cloud Cake, paralyzed on the sofa from eating.
The two little ones, Ning Xiaomiao and the Big Cat, still remembered the grapes. Afraid they would overeat, Ning Yunyi gave them each a small bowl with only a few grapes inside.
But the round, purple-crimson color instantly attracted attention, especially that fragrance—it was truly fragrant.
The kitten cub immediately chomped down one. A rich fruity aroma mixed with a refreshing sweetness filled his mouth.
He hugged the small bowl, squinting his eyes in enjoyment.
At some point, Young Master Bai, with a flushed face, squatted in front of the Big Cat, giggling at him.
His eyes were a bit glazed, but he still remembered he was an adult and couldn’t snatch a child’s grapes.
So he locked onto the Big Cat.
Normally, Young Master Bai definitely wouldn’t dare; natural instincts kept him away from the Big Cat. But now his brain was several beats slow. He squatted there asking, “Is it tasty?”
Assuming he wouldn’t get a response, Zong Hao looked up at him. Thinking about it—although this nephew was unsightly, he was still… his eldest nephew.
So Zong Hao hooked a grape with his claw and handed it over.
Young Master Bai immediately snatched food from the cat’s mouth, eating it in one bite, not even spitting out the seeds.
After eating, he looked at the Big Cat expectantly again. “Is it tasty?”
