Streaming Earth Cuisine In The Interstellar to Raise Star Cubs chapter 48.4

Part 4

Neighbors had been snidely mocking him for days. Fortunately, it was a detached house. By keeping the doors closed and not going out—and claiming they moved to pay off debts for his youngest son, Ning Mengde, out of righteousness and credit—he barely managed to save some face.

Ning Second Uncle was just waiting for the storm to pass so he could get the Mu family head to help him snatch the Ancestral Home back.

But for the past two days, he couldn’t contact the Mu family at all. He frowned. “Are the Mu family planning to burn the bridge after crossing it and ignore us?”

Ning Mengde shrunk aside, not daring to make a sound.

Ning Second Uncle’s face grew uglier. Furious, he pointed at Ning Mengde. “How exactly did you contact Mu Jiayi? Even if the Mu family head is unreachable, surely you can contact Mu Jiayi?”

Ning Mengde could only speak honestly. “Father, we really don’t need to worry. The Mu family is huge; would they really ignore us? Besides, Jiayi isn’t that kind of person. He’s busy accompanying Zong Ling lately. Once Zong Ling inherits everything from the Zong family, the Mu family will rise with the tide. They’ll definitely be able to snatch the Ancestral Home back then.”

Ning Second Uncle’s expression remained grim, but slightly better. He had to admit, that hit the mark.

That was why he chose to side with the Mu family—and, of course, because he harbored thoughts of seizing the Ning family for himself.

Why should the Ning family be handed to that wet-behind-the-ears brat, Ning Yunyi, just because Big Brother had an accident?

Ning Second Uncle took a deep breath. “Keep contacting Mu Jiayi. You must get a definite answer from him. And use your brain—trick him into saying something that confirms he made you do those things back then. Keep some leverage. If he really ignores us later, we’ll be left blind.”

Ning Mengde repeated his mantra: “I think Jiayi isn’t that kind of person…”

Ning Second Uncle shook his finger in anger. “You prodigal son! If not for you, I’d still be living in the Ancestral Home… instead of hiding here like a rat!”

Ning Mengde felt wronged. He did it for the Ning family too.

Who knew they would be pitted like this?

Just as the father and son were arguing, the butler ran in, his face pale. “Master, Master, bad news!”

“What are you panicking for?” Ning Second Uncle sat on the sofa. He felt nothing could shock him now; he just wanted the Ancestral Home back.

The butler’s voice cracked. “Ning… Ning First Master is back!”

At first, Ning Second Uncle didn’t understand. When it registered, he shot up, his voice piercing the roof. “What did you say? Big Brother is back? How is that possible? Wasn’t Ning Zhanfeng wanted and arrested? Ning Zhanfeng’s betrayal is set in stone; how could they release him?”

The butler was frightened by his ferocious expression. “Not only is the First Master back, but I heard… the Eldest Young Master has also been reinstated and returned. The wanted order has been withdrawn.”

Ning Second Uncle gasped, his face instantly turning white.

Ning Mengde, thinking of Ning Zhanfeng’s cold face, trembled in fear. It’s over! Cousin is back. If he finds out Ning Yunyi is dead, and that it was our group who plotted it…

“Father! What do we do? If they find out our family, the Mu family, and the Ji family conspired against Ning Yunyi, then…”

“Shut up!” Ning Second Uncle was panicking too.

But the butler’s next words shattered all hope. “I heard the First Master is bringing General Ning this way… I’m afraid, they come with ill intent.”

Otherwise, no one would have come to tip them off beforehand to watch the show. This happened in the morning, yet they were only told now—the neighbors were likely waiting for this exact moment.

Ning Second Uncle flusteredly ordered, “Close the door! Don’t open it no matter who knocks.”

But obviously, it was too late. Professor Ning and his group had already arrived outside the Ning residence.

Ning Yunyi looked at the dilapidated plaque reading “Ning Residence,” his eyes cold.

Behind him were thugs brought from the Underground City—carefully selected, possessing intimidating presence despite not having high spiritual power.

Neighbors hiding behind their doors peeked out. They had been rubbing their hands in anticipation since hearing the news that morning.

Ning Second Uncle’s family had been arrogant for years, offending everyone.

Outsiders might believe they moved out of the Ancestral Home to pay debts as Ning Second Uncle claimed, thinking he was righteous. But in reality, they were a nest of ingrates.

Now that Professor Ning was back, let’s see how he still had the face to claim he inherited the position of Family Head legitimately.

Ning Yunyi knew Ning Second Uncle wouldn’t open the door. He didn’t bother knocking; he simply raised his hand.

The leader of the thugs behind him stepped up and violently kicked the door.

With a few kicks, the door burst open.

With a loud crash, Ning Second Uncle’s family, who had planned to play dead inside, had no choice but to come out trembling.

Ning Second Uncle dropped his previous arrogance, smiling ingratiatingly. “Big… Big Brother, when did you get back? I was actually thinking of selling the house recently to pull strings and save you.”

His words were pretty. In the past, Professor Ning would have known the truth but turned a blind eye. But things were different now.

Evidently, Ning Second Uncle didn’t know that. He tried to fool him with the old tricks.

The onlookers and neighbors gathered around—some lying at the door, some climbing the walls.

The wall was lined with heads.

Professor Ning looked at him coldly and exposed him instantly. “Selling the house to save me? I was locked up for months without a peep from you. You were planning to wait until I died inside before taking action, weren’t you?”

Many had seen the gentle Professor Ning, the polite Professor Ning. Even when angry at his brother, he would usually just frown in displeasure.

Seeing this sarcastic Professor Ning, Ning Second Uncle froze, forgetting to react.

“Big… Big Brother, it’s all a misunderstanding.”

“Uncle, Father was really thinking of a way! But the Ancestral Home was scammed away by someone! It’s him! This guy named Bai scammed it!”

Ning Mengde saw Ning Yunyi, who looked uninvolved, and pointed at him furiously.

Professor Ning sneered. “So when the Ancestral Home is scammed, you have no solution. It turns out you planned to sell it. However, the Ning Ancestral Home is clearly property of my eldest branch. What right do you have to sell it?”

The melon-eating crowd paused. What does that mean? Only belongs to Professor Ning?

Ning Second Uncle’s face paled, having a bad premonition. “Big… Big Brother…”

Professor Ning gave him no chance. He took out an agreement and projected it via his wristband, enlarging it for everyone to see clearly.

Didn’t Ning Second Uncle want “face”? Then he would tear it off completely. Otherwise, how could he justify the suffering Yunyi and the cub endured these past months?

“Years ago, after our parents passed away one after another, we brothers divided the family property. You voluntarily gave up the position of Family Head. To compensate you, I only took the single property of the Ancestral Home. The rest, including all assets and industries of our parents, were left entirely to you. Added together, those exceeded the value of the Ancestral Home several times over. From that moment on, the Ancestral Home had nothing to do with you, and the so-called Ning Family Head had nothing to do with your second branch. Everything was earned by me alone. What does it have to do with you?”

His deafening voice spread all around. With the division agreement from back then, Ning Second Uncle couldn’t refute it even if he wanted to.

His face turned white, realizing it was truly over this time.

Professor Ning’s eyes were cold. “I believe I, as an older brother, have treated you well. Over the years, whenever you had trouble, I helped you to the best of my ability for the sake of brotherhood. But what did you do? Knowing Zhanfeng and I were in trouble, you didn’t choose to help—that’s fine. But you hit us while we were down.”

“Knowing full well the Ning family had nothing to do with you anymore, you took advantage of outsiders not knowing the truth. After our accident, you occupied my Ancestral Home as the new Family Head, drove out my offspring and young grandson, and left them to fend for themselves. Is this how you act as a second brother? As a second uncle? As a granduncle? Unkind, unjust, unmerciful, unvirtuous—you’ve done every evil deed! Ning Lao Er, tell me yourself, how have I wronged you for you to treat my family this way?”

Ning Second Uncle’s face was white. Seeing the heads of people watching the drama all around, he knew if he couldn’t explain this, he would be… he would be ruined.

He stammered, “This matter… is really a misunderstanding. Big Brother, I was just afraid Yunyi, without spiritual power, couldn’t hold onto the Ning family. So I wanted to protect the Ancestral Home for you first, then use connections to rescue you, and finally find Yunyi to explain. Who knew Yunyi couldn’t wait and ran off with that Ji family kid…”

Professor Ning listened to his continued nonsense. When he finished, he exhaled lightly. “Do you believe that yourself?”

Ning Second Uncle decided to play dumb, sticking to that excuse. “Big Brother, we’ve been brothers for so many years. We are blood brothers; would I harm my own nephew?”

Professor Ning: “Is that so? But you did harm him. Not only did you harm him, you used the cruelest method. One wouldn’t even be so ruthless to a stranger, yet you were. Ning Lao Er, when you laid a deadly hand on Yunyi, did you think about the fact that he is only in his twenties?”

Thinking of this, Professor Ning couldn’t help but shed tears. If Yunyi hadn’t had that great opportunity, he might have died on the Garbage Star.

They might not even have found his body, or saved Xingyao.

And one of the people who harmed him was his own Second Uncle.

The onlookers, originally there for the show, were stunned. What does Professor Ning mean? The Second Young Master was murdered? And Ning Second Uncle did it?

Heavens, Professor Ning’s two sons. One is a General. The other, though rarely seen, reportedly got into the Capital Military Academy at eighteen with top scores.

Pity he dropped out later.

And now… he died?

Ning Second Uncle and Ning Mengde both turned pale. They know?

They had only recently learned from Mu Jiayi that Ji Hao and Ning Yunyi were both dead.

Professor Ning didn’t give him a chance to refute again. “Taking advantage of the accident with me and Zhanfeng, you looted a burning house, wanting the Ning family. You colluded with the Mu family and the Ji family to set a trap. You had Ji Hao, that so-called childhood friend, trick him into going to the Garbage Star, and finally killed him.”

Ning Second Uncle tried to deny it. “Big Brother, where did you hear this? Absolutely not…”

Professor Ning: “Did you think I would speak without evidence?”

Although Big Brother Ning hadn’t investigated his own matters these past few days, he had been watching Ning Mengde and Mu Jiayi, as well as their interactions with Ji Hao over the past year.

Big Brother Ning quickly pulled up several videos from his wristband.

They were from before Ning Yunyi and Ji Hao left the Capital Star.

The first was Ning Mengde going to the Mu family.

The second was Ning Mengde meeting Ji Hao.

The third was Ning Second Uncle, Ning Mengde, and Ji Hao meeting. This was only two days before Ning Yunyi and Ji Hao left the Capital Star.

The fourth showed Ning Mengde hiding in the dark, witnessing Ning Yunyi—holding a pixelated Ning Xiaomiao—being chased down. Ji Hao “coincidentally” appeared to save them and then led the father and son away. Throughout the process, Ning Mengde just watched. There was no way this was unrelated to him.

After the videos played, the melon-eating crowd was dumbfounded, forgetting to react. Good heavens, this family not only steals money but kills people?

Harming their own nephew, their own cousin—how black are their hearts?

Professor Ning looked at the completely frozen Ning Second Uncle and his family. “Paying debts and paying lives is the law of nature. Ning Lao Er, Ning Mengde, before I take you away, pay back the money first.”
